Project Update: Stretch goal unlocked: Additional Character for Solid State Machine!

Congrats, Nostalgics! You already unlocked the first stretch goal. That was quick!

Sniper Lotus, the legendary arctic Vesper, has officially joined the Solid State Machine cast as a fifth pregenerated character, complete with her own character board.

Onto to next one, then. That's a new boss for our stealth game.

But what are the following stretch goals hiding in the corrupted pixels? Take a guess in the comments 👀

Project Update: Funded! 25k times THANK YOU

The game is already funded! We barely had time to grab the controller and sit on the sofa. Thank you from the bottom of our low-poly hearts.

Now, all eyes are set on the upcoming stretch goals: the first one adds a brand new character (and their sheet) to Solid State Machine. Halfway there!

And what are those pixelated stretch goals below? Perhaps we'll get to see more when we unlock the first one...

Remember that you'll only have the chance to receive the free cardboard box pin and get your credits in the CorePlayer! Magazine if you back the project during the first 48h. The pin is free for any level of Early Bird pledge, whereas credits in the Magazine are exclusive to the Platinum pledge level.

If you can't find the answers you're looking for in the campaign page, head over to the FAQ section; if something is still amiss, let us know in the comments and we'll answer as soon as possible (and possibly expand the FAQs).

We also have a new survey for you: help us decide which ride will be added to Corebound Chronicles!

Corebound Chronicles is MemoryCore's take on the classic JRPG, where the journey is just as important as the destination. And no journey is complete without a companion that makes every mile memorable. In the great tradition of unforgettable video game mounts, Corebound Chronicles will feature a rideable creature that becomes part of the adventure. Three contenders. One winner!

Project Update: Reward Tiers unveiled! Join the Launch Party live stream tomorrow

Hi Nostalgics, are you ready? The campaign launches tomorrow!

And here we are at last with the update you've been asking for the most: a complete breakdown of reward tiers and add-ons. Before we begin, two important notes:

  • The magnetic console box, User Manual, branded Markers, Tokens and Sticker Sheet are included in all reward tiers.
  • VAT and sales taxes are already included in the price of all reward tiers and add-ons.

Now, let's dive into the different pledges.

The perfect pledge for anyone looking to get a first taste of MemoryCore.

This entry-level tier grants access to 2 complete games—Solid State Machine and Bloodsong: Hunters of the Night— for less than €45 or $50.

As with all our pledge levels, this price is exclusive to our BackerKit supporters, whose trust and support are helping bring MemoryCore to life.

Recommended for curious players who want to explore a little further.

In addition to the two games included in the Base Tier, you'll be able to select two additional games of your choice, expanding your collection while benefiting from a substantial discount compared to purchasing them separately.

The pledge for anyone who wants the complete MemoryCore gaming experience.

Anthology includes the full collection of six games inside the same console box, delivering more than 60 sessions of gameplay across a wide variety of genres, settings, and adventures at a heavily discounted price.

The collector's pledge.

Platinum includes all six MemoryCore games and adds a range of exclusive extras created specifically for our BackerKit campaign: a set of custom holographic dice stored in their own cloth bag, a premium three-panel GM Screen packed with tables and reference materials, and a holographic lenticular outer sleeve that gives your console box a uniquely 90s look.

Most importantly, Platinum includes CorePlayer! Magazine, our love letter to gaming culture: part art book, part development diary, packed with one-shots, cheat codes, interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and much more.

And you can become part of it.

Back the Platinum Tier during the Early Bird period and you'll be credited as an Executive Producer. You'll receive your own dedicated column in the magazine, complete with your name and pixel-art portrait, where you'll be invited to share your Core Memories—the games, stories, and experiences that helped shape the person you are today.

Every game in the MemoryCore collection will also be available as an individual add-on for €22 / $25, allowing you to build your own custom library one module at a time.

All the premium items included in the Platinum Tier will also be available separately as add-ons at full price, with one exception: the Holographic Sleeve is exclusive to the Platinum Reward Tier and will not be sold separately.

All backers who back the project during the first 48h hours will receive our exclusive CARDBOARD BOX enamel pin as an Early Bird reward.

Everything clear?

Ready to unlock your Core Memories? Then join us for a launch live stream tomorrow at 3pm CEST with some of the artists behind MemoryCore. Head to the video below and hit the notification bell to be reminded of the livestream and project launch!

Project Update: Module Focus: Corebound Chronicles / First look at MemoryCore by Weird Place

Corebound Chronicles is our own take on the groundbreaking game that helped bring JRPGs to Western audiences and quickly became one of the most beloved and respected titles of the PlayStation era: Final Fantasy 7.

Like its inspiration, Corebound Chronicles explores themes of environmental collapse, corporate exploitation, and a world teetering on the edge of irreversible ruin. It also embraces many of the design elements players would expect from a tribute to Final Fantasy 7: a diverse party of heroes with unique combat styles, elemental affinities and status effects, deep character customization through the Core Bounding system, and powerful summon-guardians whose true nature remains as ambiguous and awe-inspiring as the gods of ancient myth.

Neo-Terra
is a world that has sold its future.

Beneath its surface flows Magika, a pressurized energy source that existed in natural equilibrium for millennia. Two centuries of relentless industrial extraction have pushed the planet to its breaking point. Now, something buried deep beneath the world's crust has awakened, and it is fighting back: the Corebounds.

A group of heroes must journey across the dying world of Neo-Terra to decide whether humanity should continue to dominate the forces of nature now rising against it, or seek reconciliation before it is too late. Their choices will ultimately determine the fate of Nexumia, the great capital city that may not deserve to be saved.

During the campaign, the party leaves Nexumia and travels across the four great regions of Neo-Terra, visiting them in any order they choose. Overland travel is driven by generative tables tailored to each region's biome, danger level, and current Accord state (the balance between nature's will and humanity's desire to dominate it).

In every region, players explore dangerous zones, interact with local communities, uncover lost Corebound lore, and eventually confront the awakened Corebound that now rules the area. This confrontation serves as the climax of the regional expedition: a major boss encounter whose outcome permanently shapes the world.

When a Corebound is defeated, the character who delivers the final blow must make a choice:

- Subjugate: The Corebound is broken and bound. Its power is suppressed and brought under human control. The region becomes more exploitable, and Nexumia gains material benefits from its resources. The Accord shifts toward Dominion.

- Harmonize: The Corebound is reconciled with the region's ecological balance. Its power remains free, and the land begins to recover from centuries of exploitation. The Accord shifts toward Covenant, strengthening the bond between humanity and the natural world.

In terms of product and game design, Corebound Chronicles features an expanded set of MemoryCards: 64 instead of the 32 included in the other MemoryCore games. This larger card pool supports the Core Bounding System, the heart of the game's customization mechanics.

Each character enters play with a set of iconic equipment that defines their role: weapons, items, and signature gear that establish them as a melee or ranged fighter, spellcaster, support specialist, or versatile jack-of-all-trades. However, characters can perform Core Bounding, attuning themselves to different Cores—fragments of ancient Magika crystals that grant access to unique spells and abilities such as Poison, Confuse, Cure, and Multi-ATK. Thro ugh these powerful bonds, players can shape their character's skills and utility in battle, and even summon their own Corebound Guardian to fight alongside them.

Featuring a cover illustration by HouseQuay in the grand tradition of classic Final Fantasy artwork, the game showcases characters created by Francesco Mazziotta and transformed into vibrant low-poly heroes by Albert Buscio, who also brought the majestic Corebound summons to life.

Corebound Chronicles was the last of our Module Focus updates!

With that, you've now seen all six MemoryCore games. The campaign launches in just 4 days, so don't miss Monday's final pre-launch update, where we'll take a deep dive into reward tiers, add-ons, pricing, and everything you need to know before choosing your pledge.

Meanwhile, Le and Gabriel, the fantastic content creators behind Weird Place, have released a First Look video of MemoryCore!

Packed with '90s vibes and filmed in an incredibly nostalgic retro bedroom setup, it's the perfect way to get a closer look at the project and the atmosphere we're trying to capture.

Watch it below:

See you at launch!

Project Update: This is NOT a Magazine. It’s a development diary, and you can be part of it.

Less than a week left to launch.

Are you excited? Because we definitely are.

And in our impatience, today we finally want to reveal something we simply can’t keep hidden any longer: we’re just too proud of it.

Introducing COREPLAYER! MAGAZINE, the official art book and development diary of MemoryCore, presented as a full-blown retro gaming magazine straight out of the ’90s — packed with reviews, interviews, cheat codes, exclusive scenarios, and hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered.

The magazine will be available exclusively during the BackerKit campaign, both as a standalone add-on and included in one of the reward tiers.

Featuring an incredible cover illustration by Francesco Mazziotta, this 40-page stapled magazine will include:

  • development diaries from Claudio and Horrible Guild
  • (fake) reviews of all six anthology games
  • exclusive one-shot adventures
  • cheat codes for alternative game modes
  • spoilers, secrets, and hidden easter eggs
  • original sketches, concept art, and photographs
  • interviews with creators from the RPG, board game, and videogame industries

But that’s not even the most important part. Because you can become part of COREPLAYER! MAGAZINE, and of MemoryCore’s history itself.

Back the Platinum Pledge during the first 48 hours of the campaign (our Early Bird period) to be credited as an Executive Producer, with a pixel-art or low-poly portrait, and the chance to share your very own Core Memories with the community.

And that's not all: every reward tier backed during the first 48 hours of the campaign will also receive an exclusive pin. Kept you waiting, huh?

…but now we need a bit of help.

Help us reach 4,000 followers before launch, and we’ll add a free bonus sticker sheet to the magazine featuring characters from MemoryCore and other beloved Horrible Guild games, including Queen Serena from The Queen’s Dilemma, Cleaver from Wilderfeast, and the Bloodsinger from Vileborn…. and many others.

We have only one week to go… help us bring back the ’90s!
