Man, that’s my favorite part of the creative process. Most of TABOO’s visual inspo comes from Soviet cartoons - the textures, the mixed-media playfulness, the bold colors - all rolled into a style that reflects Kyun’s POV: artistic, and a tiny bit immature.
Then there’s late-era Miyazaki’s design sensibility, though my Miyazaki inspiration mostly leans into pacing and ideology (more on that later). If we hit our stretch goals, I would love so much to invite a mixed-media guest artist to add more 'huzzah' to the show… ahh, the dream!
