Project Update: Wallpaper reveal! 🕷️

There's only 3 days left for Printopia!

Here's a little update about the mysterious "Mimic wallpaper" that is in every pledge level!

That's right, every backer regardless of pledge level will get a digital wallpaper of jumping spiders!

There are thousands of species of jumping spider, and most of them are tiny. Launching themselves great distances helps escape predators, but some go the extra mile with mimicry. The book features jumping spiders mimicking ants, wasps, and scorpions, but did you know they can also mimic beetles, caterpillars, flies, and even other jumping spiders?

  • Members of the genus Simaethula look and move like a beetle, whose hard shell is unappealing to predators looking for softer prey.
  • Uroballus carlei (named after the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar) has an extra long hairs and long abdomen to look like a stinging caterpillar.
  • Abracadabrella elegans, also known as the Elegant Fly Mimic, has shiny bumps on its rear that resembles fly eyes. It even walks backwards to make the disguise more convincing!
  • Parnaenus cyanidens is a colorful spider that has false eyespots lining its abdomen. Their exact purpose is unknown, but it could deter predators from sneaking up on the spider.
