I'm launching my next project next week, and it's the most personal thing I've ever made. I've always resisted calls to do a memoir or autobiography - the problem with retelling my life is having to spend 8+ hours a day dwelling in it to recreate it on the page. Especially after Sylv passed. But recently I had an idea.

What if I did a gothic fairytale - in the manner of Frankenstein - that deals with the KINDS experiences and struggles I've been through, but the whole things is fiction? My main character, known simply as The Creature, is essentially a version of me going through the kinds of things I've been through. It's all rooted in truth and lived experience, but it's also completely made up. Giving myself that distance lets me work on it without getting sucked into the bad times of my life because they're not my actual experiences, they're stories inspired by them. A pseudobiography, if you will.
