I'll write an update as it becomes a bit more clear but I'm happy to share what I'm exploring! One addition might be Weather (sandbars sinking and rising, strong wind blowing players, lighting storms in regions, etc) Another is Titles, these are bonus scoring opportunities available to all players for completing certain tasks. I'm also looking into different ways to handle region dice. It could include a bag and a few colored dice with special rules, region dice would be drawn randomly ( gold die that starts high but counts down, purple die that swaps with another region die, red die that causes fame loss to enemy, etc)
The colored dice maybe a bad idea. There is a trend out there to get sea tile dice to match the color of the tile (so orange for the compass tiles, yellow foe swords, red for skulls, ect). So it's easier to tell the island colors and points. I myself was planning this instead of just the blue
