Good morning, everyone! 🏡 I hope you're all having a wonderful autumn weekend. Here's a small update to keep you in the loop with the project.
All the funds were finalised last night and everything has been imported to the Backerkit Pledge Manager. This means I'll finalise the surveys and start sending out to some of the higher tiers and if those work as they should, the rest should be getting yours sometime next week. 🤞🏾
Mieoi has officially started working on the colouring page and I am so fucking excited for you all to get it! I know she's going to absolutely knock it out of the park.
If you follow me on Instagram (most of you came from there, so I expect many of you do), then you've probably seen me talk about comp titles for TWW. I also listed them in the description in the Backerkit project. I thought this could be a good time to talk about what those comp titles mean and why they are important and what you can expect from the story.
Authors often use comp titles to give readers a sense of the books atmosphere, character dynamics or story structure. It doesn't mean it's identical to those stories, but it gives you a good idea of what kind of story you're getting.
🌀 SO WHAT ARE THE COMP TITLES FOR TWW?
The Craft: Magic, bullying, teenage girls get revenge, death, and shtf. (Listed in project)
The Breakfast Club: A group of teenagers get detention and learn that looks can be deceiving, but end up as unlikely friends. It explores identity, social expectations, friendship, and the things people hide from each other. (Listed in project)
Life Is Strange: Max gains the ability to rewind time and tries to save the best friend she hasn’t spoken to in years. Teenage anxiety, best friends moments, coming-of-age, trauma and grief, death, mystery, and unconditional love all play major roles. (Listed in IG marketing)
Lost Records: Bloom & Rage: A group of four girls become fast friends over one summer before something goes horribly wrong. Themes include grief, bullying, memory, nostalgia, magic, revenge, rebellion, death, and unconditional love. (Listed in IG marketing)
These give you a pretty good idea of what The Wishing Well is: a supernatural sapphic second chance romance set in a cosy American small mountain town. It's a sweet, fun, and spicy romance, centred around a magical mystery that is revealed through flashbacks and adds a little suspense to the story.
While Safi's and Nai's romance is the heart of the books, it isn't the only thing that happens in them. These characters have lived through 38 years and they carry some things with them (who doesn't at that age?). They carry trauma, grief, complicated stories, bad decisions, and old wounds. TWW explores all of this alongside love, friendship, humour, magic, and 90s nostalgia.
I've talked about this so much before, but with the books getting closer to being in your hands I wanted to put everything together in one place, so everyone knows what to expect.
⚠️ CONTENT INFORMATION I'll be updating the full content information on my website this weekend/week. A short, less detailed list will also be in all versions of the book. As always, I recommend checking the full one out on my website if you know you have certain things you'd like to avoid. You're of course always free to slide into my DMs and ask for any specific trigger. It will stay private between us and I'm happy to help you navigate reading and keeping your peace. ♥️
Other than that: keep an eye on my IG, I'll be sharing plenty more about the characters, mystery, and Springwell lore as we get closer to release.
Oh! And if you want to buddy read, join the discord!
We'll have a discussion channel and I'm working on some fun topics and questions we can all discuss as you read. You'll be able to ask me questions there about the process and what went into certain scenes etc. We'll have a lot of fun!
Hey everyone! It's been a little over a week since the project ended and we managed to unlock all stretch goals. I'm hard at work getting everything ready for shipping and sending out digitally.
For those of you who still haven't paid, make sure all your info is right so you don't miss out on all the cool rewards!
So what does the road look like now?
Backerkit takes up to 14 days to process all the funds. After 14 days it closes and sends me all the Backer info.
With the info I compile surveys. This is where you can tell me where to ship your books or and your digital rewards. I will also ask if you'd like to opt out of the NSFW stuff here. For those of you who backed higher tiers, this is where you'll get to give me all the sweet details of your chosen reward. Ie describe your Mayor, name your founding family etc.
Once I've collected all the surveys these digital rewards will go out: Novella (eBook & Audio), The MeetCute Match, The Wishing Well Part 1, all Early Bird rewards, Founder's Pass.
Book 2 Status: With my line editor. Then it goes to my proofreaders and then it goes out to you! I don't want to rush the the last book. I want you to get it as perfect as I can get it. Hope Book 1 will keep you busy while polish the script one last time. 💛
Once I have Book 2, I send my printer the final files. They're ready and eager to help finish this project.
Other printables: All files are ready and will be ordered once I receive the funds from the projects. The most NSFW prints will be done at home, since some printers don't allow.... well... that. 🤭
Digital rewards that will go out later: Library cards, portraits, map. All these are being worked on as I type and I can't wait to show them to you!
If you have any questions about this, please don't hesitate to comment below!
OMNIBUS MOCKUP!
Killerlaurent sent me the final cover and the endpapers. First of all, it's all gorgeous. Second, the second cover is going in as the vellum insert to show you where Book 2 starts. The endpapers are so good, I'm so happy with how they came out. And once you've finished the story it'll all makes sense. 🙂↕️
A: What Happens Now? Once the campaign ends, we move into getting your rewards ready! Here’s what happens next.
1. BackerKit collects your pledge
BackerKit will start charging pledges within 24 hours of the campaign ending. If your payment doesn’t go through, you’ll receive an email explaining how to update it. Shipping won’t be charged at this stage.
2. I prepare your surveys and submit them for review
While payments are being processed, I’ll be setting up Pledge Manager, checking that each tier includes the right rewards and unlocked extras. I’ll also prepare the questions I need you to answer. BackerKit reviews the completed setup before surveys can go out. That review can take up to two business days after submission, with extra time if anything needs adjusting. Surveys won’t arrive immediately after the campaign closes. I’ll post an update when they’re ready, so you know when to watch your inbox!
3. The first survey batch goes out
A small test batch is sent to a few backers first. This helps me make sure everything works and catch any problems before the rest go out. If someone else receives theirs before you, you haven’t been forgotten. You’ll get yours too!
4. The remaining surveys go out
Once the test batch looks good, I’ll send surveys to remaining backers. Your survey will collect the details needed for your rewards, including your delivery address if you’re receiving physical items. It’s important that you fill this in, so please complete it even if you aren’t buying anything extra. I won’t be able to send you your rewards if you don’t complete this step! Make sure you’re adding an active email address.
5. Rewards begin going out according to their delivery schedule
The current plan is:
Mid October 2026: Digital omnibus delivery.
November 2026 & onwards: Digital Stretch Goals
February 2027: Anthology delivered
February 2027: Postage collected for physical rewards. You’ll receive advance notice before the charge.
March 2027: Physical books are expected to begin shipping.
Completing your survey now won’t charge your postage early. If your pledge shows as paid, that refers to your pledge—shipping will still be added separately in February. I’ll keep you updated as production and delivery progress. Thank you again for helping bring Safi’s and Nai’s story to life. And welcome to Springwell.
We're almost at the finish line! And look how far we've come. And we're only $500 away from unlocking The Wishing Well as an audiobook! So if you can help share the campaign and signal boost it, I'll be so grateful.🧡
So what happens next? Once the campaign closes, I will start working on the survey. It's just a fancy way of me saying I'll be sending you a form where you tell me: This is where you send my stuff!
After I've received and compiled all the surveys, I'll start sending out the rewards that are ready.
REWARD ETA
TWW Part 1 is as soon as the surveys are done. TWW Part 1 end of October, start of November. Extra epilogue Now included in Part 2 Bonus Journal Pages November The MeetCute Match November Novella November Digital Art pack November Wishing You Well Audiobook November
Recipe Book Dec Anthology February-May 2027 Colouring Page Early 2027 Sketched Portraits 2027 (because I have to book a slot with an artist, this depends a little on when they have available slots) Limited Edition Omninbus March-April 2027 This includes all printed rewards.
I think I've included all rewards here, but if I missed any, please let me know in the comments!
Now, before I let you go... I found some inconsistencies in The Springwell Gazette. It said the fire nearly burned Springwell to the ground some time around 1820ish. It should've been 1921.
From the ashes sprang the legend of The Ghost Of Springwell.
Good evening, Springwellians! 🏡 I hope you're all good now that autumn is around the corner (or already here). And if you're on my newsletter, you know I love autumn.
In my other update I said I hoped to return with good news for the next update and wow, did you all and the universe help me deliver!
Firstly, we unlocked the next stretch goal! That means the anthology is officially a go. 🙌🏾
Achievement unlocked: reached $8000 stretch goal
The anthology includes four stories and will be around 30K words long in total. It's still being written so delivery will be in early 2027. It will be included in the highest tiers:
Springwell Legend (Including Early Bird)
Town Council
Mayor
Founding Family
Lighthouse Bookshop Patron
Lighthouse Bookshop Benefactor
It can be added on to lower tiers during checkout.
The next amazing news is that Netherlands just made an exemption for micro businesses that put less than 50,000 kgs of packaging on the market. That would be me! So the Netherlands is officially open for shipping.
If you've already pledged you can adjust or change your pledge. If you got one of the cool digital tiers:
Lighthouse Bookshop Patron
Mayor Of Springwell
And you're in the Netherlands. Contact me! Either here, Discord, Instagram or my website.
So what's next? Our $9000 stretch goal aaaand two commissions I've got in progress. 1 of them will be sent out to all backers, buuut to make it a little more fun, it'll be password locked until you've finished the books. Now, of course, I'm not one to tell you how to live your life and enjoy your pledges, so if you really want to open it, it won't be hard to figure out the password. However, it contains a major spoiler that will definitely ruin your experience of the story.
Aside from editing the final bits of The Wishing Well, I'm also working on the Springwell website. There'll be some really fun stuff there and I highly recommend visiting it before or during reading the Wishing Well for a really immersive read.
My printer just got back to me with an update about the hardcover. It's estimated to weigh around 1.8 Kgs (3.9 lbs) on its own. Apparently our girls had some heavy emotional baggage. 😅
Once I've added bubble wrap, and envelope, it may tip over the 2kg barrier. This could put it in the higher postage bracket.
I know international shipping is a significant extra expense, and I wanted to updated you so that you can budget for it ahead of time.
Shipping costs will be charged separately, and closer to shipping date (estimated: March-April 2027). This means you have up until February 2027 to set aside money for the shipping.
So at the end of the campaign, you'll be charged for your pledge but not the shipping. I've done it this way so that it'll be easier for everyone who wants the book, but also has to pay for shipping. If your reward is only digital, you won't pay for any type of delivery.
So to clarify once again: End of campaign: Backerkit will charge you for your pledge. February 2027: Backerkit wil charge you for the shipping. People with digital rewards only will be charged full amount at the end of the campaign.
These postage prices are estimated and based on today's shipping prices with the cheapest but safe option. Your parcel will be tracked and carefully packaged to keep it as safe as possible.
US 61 USD
Canada 85 CAD
UK 34 GBP
Sweden 180 SEK
Other Eligible Destinations: 61 USD
I hope this helps you prepare for the gorgeous hardcover and all the little extra goodies tucked inside it. 🥰
Thank you again to everyone for helping me get these two very substantial sapphics onto your bookshelves. 💛
