Well, that was fast, Battle Goomis is fully funded in just 12 hours!

That means my new crochet card game will exist in the world, beyond my living room! It also means now we’re unlocking STRETCH GOALS!

This was composed by my friend Finn Dunham who is an INSANELY talented musician and composer. Every goal that we hit will unlock something new and different for the Goomis!

We've got 3 segments of achievements we're trying to reach during the campaign. Financial, Backer amount, and community goals.

Financial Achievements - These are related to how much money the campaign makes. These achievements will unlock upgrades to the physical game, such as new sticker sheets, expansion packs, and even a dice rolling mobile app!

Backer Achievements - These are related to how many people back the project and are related to upgrades for the main game such as added lore, artwork, and new game modes! Backers that support for any amount will help push this number, so make sure to share the project with a friend so they can get a booster pack!

Community Achievements - These are related to things we do as a community and unlock new additions to the game such as characters, new kits, and free patterns! I'll do a larger update about these more later this week, but we'll be doing things like crochet challenges and other miscelanious goals.

There's only 10 more days until launch of Battle Goomis!! I'm so SO SOOOO excited (and nervous)! There's still a lot for me to get ready, and even more to tell you about! Today let's talk about how art works for the game, vote on some art, and I'll even give you a free mystery pattern if you make it to the end!

First up, there's a live crochet along going on TODAY!! We're crocheting this update's mystery pattern live starting at 3pm PST right here! You can get the free pattern at the end of this update!

I've been working a bunch this week on full art variations for the game and figured I should talk a bit about how they work. Each card in Battle Goomis will have 4+ rarities for their cards which can be found in a variety of ways. To prevent a pay to win structure to the game, every common Goomi card can be found in Starter Sets of the game, however rare full arts and holographic "shinies" can also be found in booster packs and special promo decks! Here's a breakdown:

⭐️ - Common - These are basic cards and will be available in their entirety in the Starter Set of the game.
⭐️⭐️ - Shiny - These are shiny (holographic foil) versions of all the common cards, available in the Deluxe Set of the game and booster packs.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Rare - These are full art versions of the cards, often with completely unique art from the common cards. These can be found in the booster packs of the game.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Shiny Rare - These are shiny versions of full art cards. These can be found in the booster packs of the game.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Ultra Rare Cards - There will be some extremely rare cards such as gold foil and one of a kind art. These will have a very limited run and sometimes only have one printed version in circulation! Promotional cards will have a unique scoring.

Bonus Content! - Each variation of a card will have their own special Goomi code to be used on the Club Crochet website to untangle the digital card and it's associated bonus content such as wallpapers, music, lore, and strategy insights!

Every 5 cards untangled will give the user a credit to use on any crochet pattern and tutorial in the library!

The Goomis are launching in less than a month!! AHHHHH!!! I’m so excited (and nervous) to share with you this project that I’ve been working on for so long! Okay, there is sooo much to catch you up on so we’re just gonna have to start weekly updates! 

Welcome to the world of Goomia!! I still have so much to prep before launch, but in the meantime let’s start with an introduction into the world!

Goomia is a land of crocheted critters, creatures, and characters molded from yarn and hooked into life as amigurumi friends, or maybe more accurately “Goomigurumis” aka Goomis! Goomia and its Goomi inhabitants live in the many regions around the world, from the magical forests of the Wooly Woods to the sunny beaches along the Stitchsoaked Shores. Each region filled with characters just waiting to be crafted to life with a hook, and all of them have one thing in common... their love for Battle Goomis! In this competitive game, teams of Goomis race to wind up their yarn balls first, each bringing their unique skills to the battle. Explore, collect, and crochet your way through Battle Goomis coming soon! 

#01 - Bigfoot Bobby

My first character for the Goomis is one dear to my heart. Bigfoot Bobby has felt like a classic since the first stitch, and named after my dad (whose name was not Bigfoot).

Strategies - Bobby is an all around great Goomi both on and off the battle field. His decent Attack and Wind combined with his high health means he can be really flexible with how you play him. Sure, he’s got a low support stat, but his ability, Hug, makes up for it by healing both himself and a teammate! Bobby is always a solid pick when starting a team.

Story - When you enter the Wooly Woods with good vibes and an open mind, you’ll likely run into its resident tour guide, Bigfoot Bobby! Bobby is known in these parts as a kindhearted butterfly enthusiast and is always ready to help a neighbor in need. Let him know if you need a pinecone hung or if you’re looking for any of the Wooly Wood’s more elusive residents, Bigfoot Bobby is always there to help.

Louie Note - This design is named after my dad, a wonderfully encouraging and kindhearted Bigfoot enthusiast, who I’m proud to be very much like. I really love the simplicity of this design; it provides a good introduction to my wacky style and the interesting use of stitches produces a truly goofy Goomi.

Each week we’ll be voting on poles to help build the game together! These polls will be open during the duration of the campaign and the choices will affect the final project. We’ll be voting on names and titles, abilities, and this week, the art!
