Hello Backers,

The "Mission Accomplished" update punishes me again. I have been made aware that a backer received a misprinted copy of Out of the Iron Labyrinth (a number of pages were duplicated, and some other pages were missing). After that report, I looked through the rest of the copies that I have on hand, and about 2% were found to be misprinted in this way.

If you have not already, please flip through your book and make sure that you have the correct pages in the correct order. From what I found here, if you open the inside back cover, and you see page numbers 50 and 51, you are good. If you see any other number (32 was most common), you have a misprinted book.

If your book is misprinted, please contact me directly through BackerKit support. Those reports go straight to my email; posting comments or replies to this update don't immediately email me, and I risk missing them. I will send a new book out to you as soon as I can.

If you are one of the people that opted for PAXU Pick-Up, I'll be emailing you at the end of November with details on how to grab your rewards during the convention. 

Even if you did not pick this option, if you are going to be attending the convention (December 4-6 in Philadelphia, PA), stop by Booth 4301 and say hi!

There are still a handful of people that have not completed their pledge manager survey. If you aren't sure, head on over to https://ootil-ose.backerkit.com/ to see if your survey still has any action items.

My next project is a solo journaling game called Wizard Mind Palace. You are a wizard on a quest to reclaim an item that was stolen from you. The moment you step into your Enemy's dungeon, you realize that they have infiltrated your mind palace and corrupted you memories. During the game, you will be reliving your memories of preparing for this quest, finding the changes that your Enemy made, and correcting them so that you can make it through the dungeon and defeat your Enemy.

If this sounds cool, the Kickstarter launches later this month. You can sign up to be notified when the campaign goes live at the Pre-Launch Page.

Last month I promised a boring shipping update, but instead I have an exciting shipping update: the books are here!

You may have noticed that I started the process of locking orders yesterday. Tomorrow I will be able to start charging credit cards and locking shipping addresses. You will receive emails at each step of this process to make sure that your information is up-to-date.

If you want to check ahead of time, you can always review your survey by going to https://www.backerkit.com/c/users/active_projects, clicking the Your Surveys tab, and scrolling down to the Out of the Iron Labyrinth entry.

Once cards have been charged and addresses have been locked, I will start shipping the books. I expect to be able to get through all of them next week. If you live anywhere that is NOT the EU or UK, you can expect an email with a tracking number at that point. If you live in the EU or UK, you'll need to wait a few weeks longer as I ship your rewards to my fulfillment partner in the UK, who will then ship them to you (hopefully saving you some extra taxes/fees when the packages arrive).

In-person fulfillment at PAXU is still on the table! If you opted to avoid shipping charges and pick up your rewards at PAXU, your order will be locked now, but I will not be charging your credit card at this time. Instead, I will keep your order in BackerKit purgatory until we successfully make the hand-off in December in Philadelphia. I will get in touch with you via email to set up the hand-off closer to the convention. If something happens, and we do not connect, I'll charge your card and ship your rewards after the convention in the usual fashion.

While Out of the Iron Labyrinth has been fully released digitally for a while now, once the orders are locked, I can proceed with the release of all of the digital add-ons as well. If your pledge included digital add-ons, you will receive those through BackerKit in the coming days.

If you missed the initial release, you can always go to https://www.backerkit.com/c/users/active_projects and click on the Your Digital Rewards tab to find them again.

Hello!

Here we are with the August update: the game is ready! Print files have been finalized, and the printer has gotten started creating the books. I've pulled together the digital edition of the game, so now it's time to release you all into hell.

In a few minutes, you will be receiving an email from BackerKit starting with the words New Digital Content. When you click through to your BackerKit digital downloads page, you will see two options. One is to download the game file directly, and the other is an itch.io download key so that you can link the game to your itch account (and never lose access to it). 

If you are expecting digital add-ons as well, those need to wait until we lock orders prior to shipping, for which we are still on schedule for doing by November. Fingers crossed we don't hit any speed bumps with trans-Pacific shipping.

Hello!

We're back with the July update: the book has been created! I sent the files to the printer today to start the proofing process. By the end of the week, I expect to have placed the order so that they can start printing.

Otherwise, there's not much to say. We're still on schedule with our original timeline, so fingers crossed there are no major issues in proofing/printing/shipping. I'll be back next month with another update.

We are at 95% completion on the pledge manager surveys, which is great! If you haven't filled yours out (or if you aren't sure), head over to https://ootil-ose.backerkit.com/ to check.

Hello!

I know it hasn't quite been a month yet, but it's time for an update: Surveys Are Coming. 5% of backers should receive their survey shortly, and everyone else should see it tomorrow sometime.

Jamie and I have been chipping away at the book. The text has been edited once and laid out, so there is just one more round of copy edits and proofreading left before it is finalized. Jamie has been working on the illustrations and maps. Here's an updated take on the calcabrina:

Because of the expected timing for the fulfillment of this book, I've decided to offer something I haven't done before (but I know other creators sometimes do): in person reward pickup at PAX Unplugged! I have had a booth at PAXU in Philadelphia for the last few years, and I will be back there this December. If you are planning on going, you may have the chance to pick up your rewards in person and skip the shipping charges.

This is a new thing for me, and there are lots of reasons why it might not work out, so you will still be asked to enter your credit card information when you fill out the survey. I'll be in touch with backers that choose this option once we get closer to the convention date to make sure we can coordinate this.
