In yesterday evening's reaction livestream, Matt lamented that not too many people are talking about the sample pages, so here I am to initiate a discussion on them. Love love love the art! Definitely a strong suit of MCDM's products. I know from the Patreon that the dwarves are Jason Hasenauer's work (and like the revision to the previous version I saw), but to everyone who worked on the art in the sample pages: Kudos to you! Dwarves are super cool. I really like the possibilities opening up from making them about creating new things versus elves being interested in preservation. It takes a thing from Tolkienian elves (they are interested in preserving the world) and gives dwarves a deeply philosophical stance on maker/crafting culture. I do hope, for complexity's sake, that the preservation the elves stand for isn't pooh-poohed away as a merely conservative and reactionary impulse. I love innovation, but tradition and history are just as cool and important. From the Tactician preview, I love how simple stats will be. Just here are your characteristic scores, distribute the less important ones as you like. Same with health. Forced movement really helps me understand how tactics will come into play. Kits are it! They really foreground the fantasy you want to play rather than the ornaments that indicate that play style. As a relative newbie to RPGs, I'll leave commenting on the Necromancer stat block to others, because I just don't know enough about DM-ing/Directing to talk about it. What are everybody else's favorite bits of the sample pages?
