The components of the boxed set take an awesome, effortlessly easy-to-run megadungeon and make the experience even more immersive and the GM’s job even easier and more convenient. But in terms of content, the entire dungeon is in both the book and the boxed set. We’re expanding the box through stretch goals, though, and some of these goals might include additional content that won’t be in the book. The boxed set may be the only way to get that content. Here are some of the items that are exclusive to the boxed set edition even before it’s expanded through stretch goals: * A poster map and a bunch of loose-leaf maps—these maps are also in the book, but it’s handy to have them as separate items * Creatures and cyphers from the book in card format, which is really useful at the game table * Beautifully printed character sheets (the book has a download link so you can print your own) * A variety of immersive handouts (again, these are in the book, with a download link for printing your own) * The Twin Clocks Timer—a really slick way to track the influence of Dalyn, the Optimist, and Korana, the Pessimist on the events in your campaign.
Yes. The cards are an accessory that speeds play, adds convenience, and gives you inspiration. Their content comes from the book. All of the creatures and cyphers that appear in the cards are also included in the book, so that content exists in both versions of the product.
The boxed set breaks the standard edition of the book into three separate books, making the adventure a bit easier for the GM to manage at the table. These books are softcover, but with a premium binding.
Cypher is optimized for discovery-oriented, narrative-focused, character-driven adventures. If you want a game that’s fast-paced, easy to GM, and filled with tools for building the stories you really want to play, you’ll love Cypher. And it's easy to learn, so if you have players who are reluctant try something new, it won't be hard to convert them. If you’d still rather stick with 5E, hey, to each their own! There are loads of great dungeons out there for D&D, but Jewel in the Sky isn’t one of them.
At this point, we only have the resources to support Roll20 and Alchemy. We're looking into even more options, however, including Foundry, so stay tuned as we ramp up our VTT support.
We understand that the Cypher campaign was less than a year ago, so seeing the book discounted now might be a bit jarring. Allow us to explain! The Cypher Character Rulebook and Cypher GM's Guide funded via the Cypher: Faster. Easier. And Even Better! crowdfunding campaign were premium editions, exclusive to backers of that campaign. A backer of this campaign who adds on those books will get the standard edition. Furthermore, unless you backed at the lowest pledge level, the cost of your pledge included a substantial discount for your rewards.
Yes, BackerKit’s Pay Over Time feature—which allows you to split your pledge into four monthly payments—is turned on for Jewel in the Sky. That being said, Backerkit only enables this feature for high-value pledges (we don't have any control over that value), so you won't be able to select Pay Over Time for some of our lower pledge levels. But if you're getting the DELUXE BOXED SET with or without Cypher, you'll be able to take advantage of Pay Over Time.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
