Hiya everyone! The We Love Cold War kickstarter is officially 300% FUNDED! THANK YOU to everyone who donated and pledged! (some important news for Backers though, please keep reading~)

Important things to note!: Backer surveys will be sent out sometime mid-July so we can record your name for the "NAME IN CREDITS" tiers! As well as your personal requests for illustrations/characters if you got the shikishi board tier!
Digital rewards will be made available in December 2026. However, shipping for physical goods including the artbook, Atomic Briefcase, and other goodies will likely be in 2027, SHIPPING IS PAID POST-CAMPAIGN, AS SPECIFIED IN THE CAMPAIGN NOTES. If this is an issue, we will see what we can do on our end to compensate higher-tier backers, however the cost to manufacture and ship everything is still not final at the moment, so postage costs need to still be collected once we are ready to ship in 2027. End of History backers and above, are encouraged to join the Discord or reach out to me directly via email ([email protected]) with their receipt so I can co-ordinate the in-person screening scheduled for next year, March 2027 in Tokyo, Japan! (if you can't make it, we do offer a digital illustration commission as a consolation reward)
...Aaaand: We crushed the 145k stretch goal to fund Episode 03: Apocalypse Nyow! But the amount we raised on paper ($165k) is MUCH higher than the actual amount of funds we have to start with (+ there's about $21k of failed charges, which puts the final tally at $144k, just short of the $145k Episode 3 goal)
If your payment failed! Please call your bank or whatever it is you need to do, since you probably got a week to fix that before we'd just cancel your pledge. If none of these options work, feel free to email me and I can arrange for a resolution. (like donating directly to Ko-Fi or what not)

Hi everyone! We are officially LESS THAN 24 HOURS left until the end of the WLCW Campaign around 10AM PST tomorrow! That means everybody who has pledged will be charged then, if a charge falls through, you'll have a week to fix your payment method otherwise we'd have to cancel your pledge.
That being said, now is the time to either get in your last-minute pledges for physical rewards to be shipped once Season 1 is ready! (Please note that digital rewards will be available at the end of 2026, while physical rewards will likely ship towards the end of Q2 2027)

There was alot of stuff we had hoped to finish during the actual WLCW campaign, that ultimately fell through due to the ever-expanding and frenetic nature of animated production. A couple of new WLCW Shorts will still however be releasing in August and WLCW's full-scale production is scheduled to start as soon as the campaign funds are forwarded to us after the campaign ends.
HOWEVER, we are comfortable to say, that right now, with the support of over awesome 800 backers: that we have secured a path to the future, I am personally confident that we'll be able to hire a great crew to produce the WLCW Pilot without half-measures, and without sacrificing the independent spirit and attention to detail that made the original thesis film and shorts what they were.
Production updates will continue on a bi-weekly basis, same as on the Backerkit, same as the Patreon updates, and all future updates will be mirrored to the Discord. Rewards when ready to be fulfilled, will be fulfilled using Backerkit's Pledge Manager and you will be sent out surveys by EMAIL when we're ready to ship, regarding your address and fulfillment. (If you have any change of address or email before we ship, please keep a screenshot or record of your receipt and contact us directly by Email or in the Discord server, and we can help you out!)
Please note the challenges of an independent small-scale production however, if there are any potential delays due to unexpected production costs or time needed, we will communicate this, if you have any further issues, please feel free to email / contact me at [email protected]
We Love Cold War!! has been a passion project that I've been developing since 2023, I never thought it could have a future beyond something I make for myself or that it would have an active audience and fanbase willing to support it.
We've raised quite a lot of support for WLCW's production, but now we actually have to deliver. A one-year turnaround for a full-length TV Pilot is actually quite short, I am however dedicated to this project and want to see it happen no matter the time, resources, and energy required to make it happen.
Now as for stretch goals, we are PROBABLY going to fall short of the $145k goal to fund Episode 3, not only really because of Backerkit's fees and taxes would make producing 3 entire episodes on the budget we did raise be very difficult, but also because producing 3 entire episodes is gonna take quite a damn while!
So regardless, if we hit the goal or not, I'll drafting plans for the rest of the Season, if we run out of money by next year, after we fulfill the rewards for the Pilot, we might do another campaign, but the goal is for WLCW to be fully self-sufficient by merch sales and for the series to really blossom into its own thing once the Pilot is 100% finished~
This will be the last update for the active campaign period, but we WILL be back soon in a few to update y'all on how production kicks off! AND if you pledged for any of the Backerkit "Name in Credits" or "Producer" tiers, your name will show up in all of the upcoming 6 WLCW Shorts + the Pilot once it's out! Hiya, so PART ONE of the WLCW Pilot is out on Youtube! But some people were having issues with YT compression and frame skipping... we did our best to polish everything up in time before the Backerkit campaign ended.
This vertical slice was largely rushed in the last 4 weeks so we'd have "something" to show for the series, however it is NOT the Pilot that the Backerkit was meant to fund, it's more so "what we would've gotten done" if WLCW continued at a much smaller independently funded scale. It's also not the first episode chronologically and is more so an experimental self-contained episode...
I've noted some feedback that weeee really need to hire more animators + pace out the Episodic plots much better. Though please keep in mind that this is effectively "the last" small-scale WLCW production where I do like the vast majority of the key animation, as I will be delegating myself to overseeing the overall series production, storyboards, and design.
Ah also, another thing, a large amount of Backers from the Backerkit pledged to have their names in the credits but since they haven't been charged yet, we have not put your names in the credits at the moment. However they WILL be in the full episode release and home media versions.
Regardless, Thank you to everyone who has supported and who has continued to support WLCW now and into the future.
We will be trying to make something cooler and on a professional scale in the future, starting with the WLCW Shorts planned for later this summer. Gay Bomb and Psychic Arms Race were delayed due to the campaign's unprecedented scope required, and we will be aiming to release these by August at the latest, as well as pushing forwards with The British, + The Warsaw Pact that same month with a full expanded team of animators.
See you guys soon! I'm going to be taking a week-long break to do some thinking, reorganizing, but tentatively our internal schedule to restart production on WLCW is July 13th! We onboarded 2 dozen new staffers and we really hope to deliver something cool to you guys soon!
Hiya! As of speaking we are now 3 weeks left until the WLCW Campaign ends! Keep in mind that if you pledged already, you will be charged ONLY when the campaign ENDS on July 11th! We have not collected any pledges yet.
Now then! Weekly updates~! We've released about 40 seconds of new animation this week! A sneak peek at the upcoming BRITISH short, featuring Waverly Redmond & Loveday Eden, + a new short snippet from THE U.N. (+ Canadian) short featuring Anne Mackenzie-Laurent
As well, we've got a couple of things in the pipeline, we are rapidly approaching the completion of ACT I of the WLCW Pilot (scheduled, god willing, for a July 4th release) and a couple more illustrations and goodies on the way.
