Project Update: The Origins of L.A.N.C.E. ⚔️
Although only formed into a international agency in the service of fighting evil in the last few centuries, L.A.N.C.E., or at least the idea of it, has been around for much much longer.
Until recently not much research had been done into the history of L.A.N.C.E. but with the passing of certain new legislation the agency has been forced to declassify a huge number of reports into the public domain.
Historians around the globe have become fascinated by this organisation, delving deep into its roots. There are a number of theories on who should really be considered L.A.N.C.E.'s founder (some of them quite conspiratorial), but the one which is most popular is that of Sir Gawain.
At one point in the history of the world there were two things that we're extremely common. Monsters and Mysteries. Sir Gawain, one of the semi-mythical knights of old Albion is recorded as being the person who launched a quest specifically against these two foes.
His knightly order quickly spread from the forests of Albion, out into other countries and eventually the world. There aren't many knights left in our modern age (but interestingly not zero) but L.A.N.C.E. still operates using many of the principles and assets laid down by Sir Gawain's order.
L.A.N.C.E. and its agents and operatives aren't just limited to SHIVER Classified either. They weave into the greater SHIVER story world so don't be surprised if you run into a vampire knight, or an agent try to topple a corporate horror hellscape on your adventures.
Make sure to grab your copy of SHIVER Classified here if you haven't already. Become an ancient knight, a secret agent, or something in between. The options for you to create your own clandestine conspiracy chronicles are endless!
