MEET THE 9 ANIMALS:

Some of history's most incredible animals may be gone, but they're not forgotten. This collection brings back extinct species into soft plushies that you can hold in your arms!

We’ve started with one plushie, but this collection is just getting started. Help us bring the rest of these forgotten animals back in the softest way possible.

-> Great Auk:

Watch a hands-on review of one of the plushies below!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrqJYPvwFsU

Plushie Details:
  •  Approximately 14 inches long
  • Semi-weighted feel, around 1 lb
  •  Made with vibrant, soft plush fabric

Meet The Entire Collection:

Each plushie will be approximately 12–16 inches in length, or about 30–40 cm, depending on the design.

How each Buddy gets made

Sketch - Rough pencil first, by hand. I find the one feature that makes the animal instantly readable (the Great Auk's heavy bill, the Tarpan's upright mane), then round everything else out. Plush proportions aren't real proportions. Heads go up, legs come in.

Flats - The sketch becomes a clean vector drawing in Illustrator with front, back, and side views. Colors are flat and hard-edged, because every color region becomes its own piece of fabric. Soft shading doesn't exist in plush.

Spec sheet - The unglamorous part that decides whether the sample comes back right: finished size, every cut panel labeled, fabric and pile direction, color codes matched to real swatches, and seam placement (a seam across a face ruins it, a seam under a wing disappears).

Embroidery - All facial features are stitched, not glued-on plastic. No safety eyes, nothing to pop off. I specify stitch direction too, since thread lying one way versus another can make the same face look sleepy or alert.

Sampling - The first sample is always wrong in a couple of ways. Snout too long, ears too high, body reading as a ball instead of a bird. I mark up the photos and we go again. I don't approve anything I wouldn't put on my own shelf.

Filling - Fill is specified by weight, not by feel, so every unit matches. Body firm enough to sit up, limbs and tails deliberately under-filled so they stay floppy. Overstuffed limbs stick straight out and look cheap. Squeeze it, it gives, let go, it comes back.

Stretch Goals:

The Great Auk is already unlocked, but the rest of the collection still needs your help! Plushie design is expensive, time-consuming, and takes a lot of work, but it’s so fun getting to create animals nobody else has made before. Help us bring the next one to life and take a lost animal home with you! :)

Shipping Details:

Shipping prices have been changing a lot recently because of global events, but we’ll do our best to keep costs as low as we can. Thank you for your patience and understanding, we know shipping can be frustrating sometimes.

Production Timeline

We’ve made plushies before, but every new design still has its own process. Plushie production can take time, especially when we’re creating animals from scratch and making sure each one looks right before moving forward. The timeline below is our best estimate and we have a great relationship with our manufacturer.

Design Stage: 2-3 weeks
After the campaign ends, we’ll begin working on samples for any unlocked plushies and add-ons. Even if one plushie is already completed or unlocked, each additional design still needs its own sample, revisions, and final approval. We will not begin full production until all needed samples are approved. This helps make sure the final plushies look as close to the designs as possible.

Full Production: 4-5 Weeks
Once all samples are approved, full production can begin. This stage includes making the plushies, checking details, and preparing everything for shipment to us.

Shipping Fulfillment: 1 Week
After production is finished, the plushies will be shipped to us first. Once they arrive, we’ll begin packing and sending them out to backers. We’ll share updates whenever there is meaningful progress.

Estimated delivery: Early October
Delays can happen during sampling, production, freight shipping, customs, or fulfillment. We will try our hardest to get these plushies to you as quickly as possible along with updates!

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out this project. We’d love to have you join us and help bring these amazing lost creatures back to life as plushies!
