Step through the doorway to an entirely new roleplaying experience. Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe is coming to your tabletop as a new RPG system from Renegade Game Studios. Established in the world brought to life by the hit AMC series Interview with the Vampire, The Mayfair Witches, and Talamasca: The Secret Order.
*Physical Pledges Only
This first campaign will introduce fans to the Immortal Universe through the iconic Southern Gothic setting of Interview with the Vampire. What fans can expect from the Interview with the Vampire roleplaying experience can be broken down into three thematic pillars…
Don’t be afraid darling, it won't hurt... much. The Interview with the Vampire Starter Set includes everything you’ll need to delve into the Immortal Universe Roleplaying Game, even if you’ve never played or run a roleplaying game before. You’ll be thrust into the vibrant and mysterious New Orleans of the late 1940s, playing as Lestat de Lioncourt's abandoned fledglings.
The included Learn-to-Play booklet teaches you the basics as you play, leading you through A Scent of Cloves and Lilac, a full chronicle (what we call an adventure in the Immortal Universe system). Plus, you’ll find additional surprises within: props, visual aids, dice, maps, and more. All to be revealed in due time, ma chère.
Once you’re ready to delve deeper, the Interview with the Vampire New Orleans hardcover will provide you with features to tell your very own story within the Immortal Universe. Specifically, this book zooms out to encompass the entire span of time between 1910 and 2020 in New Orleans.
Players can create their own characters: human, fledgling, or experienced vampire, then imagine and weave a tale in the same world as Lestat, Louis, and Claudia. You might even meet them yourself.
Je vais te croquer, mon amour.
Success can be as dramatic as failure. Even when characters achieve what they want, the consequences can create new problems, tensions, or tragedies.
The Past Is a Mechanic. Memory, unreliable narration, and personal history are integrated into gameplay, instead of just being narrative flavor.
Playing across time. The “Flashback System” gives players the ability to change the story in the midst of playing.
Flashbacks recontextualize the present. Flashbacks can be short scenes to full sessions where players can play out the past events of their characters. And the system can change what they understand about their own backstories.
Jump into different decades. You can start a chronicle in 2020 and still find ways to jump back to 1920. It’s never just “now”.
Collaborative storytelling. The "Rewrite" mechanic offers players brief narrative control to change scenes as they’re unfolding. A body needs to be disposed of before dawn? Spend a Rewrite and your character recalls the dockworker who owes them a favor.
Three different damage tracks. Characters can experience physical, psychological, or emotional harm, depending on what happens to them. Track not only your Wounds, but your Despair and Torment as well.
Emphasis on roleplay. Your character is defined by fascinations, the passions and roles that make them who they are. Tap into your character's emotions to shed Despair. Play to their calling and ease psychological Torment. Lean into who your character is to heal the damage they’ve accrued.
So what are you waiting for? All you need to do... is nod your head and open your heart.

Welcome to Eternity
Hello Immortals,
Welcome to the beginning of our Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe Roleplaying Game community updates. I’m Rina Amaranthine, Community and Crowdfunding Manager here at Renegade Game Studios, and I’ll be playing host and guide through this campaign.
We’ll be officially launching the campaign on October 27th but we didn’t want to wait until then to start giving updates.
To kick things off for our coven of Immortals, let’s get to know each other a little!
Attached to this post is a poll, I have a fondness for them so there will be plenty to vote on and discuss during this campaign.
Today’s is an easy one- have you ever played a TTRPG? Many of our new coven members may be here as fans of Anne Rice’s magnificent world, but not yet as familiar with the world of TTRPGs. And for others, the opposite.
Why a TTRPG? Here’s a quick word from Rachel J. Wilkinson, the producer and designer behind the Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe Roleplaying Game, speaking to why Anne Rice’s world is perfectly suited to the medium.
Anne Rice's stories are about characters who are beautiful and dangerous making very bad decisions. Which is the perfect setup for a table of players to get tangled in their own supernatural drama. Obsessions, secrets, intrigues, betrayals... Frankly, all that sounds like a pretty great Friday night to me.
We would also like to invite you to watch (or rewatch) Season 1 of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire along with us!
Each week, we’ll discuss an episode (or two) over in the BackerKit Community tab. This is an open forum where every coven member can make posts. We’ll also post in there to answer your questions about TTRPGs, maybe even drop a few hints about what’s coming during the campaign, and what you can expect to find within the game itself.
Please feel free to introduce yourself and make friends in the comments, we also invite you to ask questions, be they about TTRPGs, Interview With The Vampire, or Renegade as a whole.
Welcome to the Renegade Coven. We greatly look forward to exploring this world with you all.
IWTV EP 2 Discussion: ...After the Phantoms of Your Former Self
SPOILERS AHEAD
Episode Description: Louis learns vampire rules from Lestat.
Small confession: The reason these two episodes got bundled together in discussions is because the first time (and every time thereafter) that I've watched them I ALWAYS watch both. It's impossible for me to stop after just Episode 1 and I applaud all the Immortals out there who had to wait on an actual release schedule because I could never.
The transformation from human to vampire seems TERRIFYING but it obviously didn't stop any of our main characters. Louis is literally reborn at the beginning of this episode and then just goes about his "normal" life, interacting with his family, his employees. We also get to see the BEAUTIFUL Azalea Hall and get the most amazing line in the whole series.
Did you eat the baby?
I feel like I could talk about the transition from human to vampire for hours. Do you think you could do it? WOULD you do it? Do you think you could hash it as a vampire?
IWTV EP 1 Discussion: In Throes of Increasing Wonder...
SPOILERS AHEAD
Episode Description: Louis meets the vampire Lestat in 1910 New Orleans.
What a deceptively simple description! When I began watching Interview With The Vampire I went in with absolutely no background knowledge. I guessed there would be an interview and that there would be vampires and that was it.
The jump from modern times to 20th Century New Orleans was a surprise but I LOVED it. As someone who's really in to costumes and sets I was dumbstruck by the sets, the outfits, everything that was being said without words.
And Lestat's introduction? WOW! I was so glad when we decided that his calling card would be our VIP bonus because it's a perfect capsule of so many things about the show. Mysterious and elegant, whispering that there's far more to this man than meets the eye.
What are your thoughts? Did you jump into the series right away or did you wait until all of Season 1 dropped so you could binge it in one sitting? Did you have a moment where you knew you were going to be watching this show all the way through?
