The Temple of Inquinatious Evil is an homage to Luke’s dad, Gary Gygax, and is the sequel to the highly successful crowdfunded mega-adventure they did a while back entitled “The Tomb of Gyzaengaxx.” And it’s going to be phenomenal. We’re backing it, and we encourage you to do the same.
Hey everyone! Lots to update and lots of questions answered here, so make sure to please read through this carefully.
The BackerKit survey was sent out to everyone over the weekend. As we said before, this survey is required to fulfill your order and only takes a few minutes to finish. There have been a few questions about the survey, so we hope to answer all of them here:
If you are paying over time, you will not be able to fill out the survey yet. This restriction is a limitation of BackerKit, so once your final payment is processed for paying over time, you will automatically receive an email to fill out the survey.
You are not being charged for shipping now. We don't know the full weights and sizes of the products, so we can't charge for shipping yet. Right before the products ship, we will send out an email to everyone asking them to finalize their shipping address and pay for shipping.
Don't worry if the survey asks you for your address, even if you are only getting digital products. If you are receiving a digital product, your address won't be used for anything. If you wish, you can simply put "N/A" in your address if you don't want to fill it out. However, if you are receiving even one physical product, do fill it out... otherwise we have no way to get your products to you!
For those affected by VAT, some have said their rates differ for book-only orders. Unfortunately, BackerKit doesn't allow us to mix rate types. Also, the vast majority of other items being shipped aren't books (in fact, there is only ONE book in the package), so everything else in most packages is affected by the standard VAT. The only way we can adjust the VAT collected is by manually providing you a credit to your account. Simply send us an email at [email protected] with the email address of your order, and we'll help you out with this.
If you put down $1 for the pre-order Death Dice but used a different email for your pre-order and BackerKit, let us know so we can add them to your pledge. Again, simply send us an email at [email protected] with your two emails, and we'll get the Death Dice added to your pledge right away.
If you ordered any Battlezoo or Shadowdark digital products, you will receive them once your order is charged (next week). All digital products will be released next week when we charge outstanding balances and lock down orders. If you don't have a balance, then you won't be charged anything. Instead, your order will simply be locked down, and your digital downloads will be unlocked.
If you ordered any physical Battlezoo or Shadowdark products, you can have them shipped early if you wish. The campaign will default to shipping anything extra you ordered with your Deathbringer products. However, if you wish to receive them early, send us an email at [email protected] and we can split ship them and send them out right away.
The Deathbringer Playtest Will Start Next Week
For those in the private playtest, we have been hard at work getting everything ready for you... and it's a lot. Here is the process that will start next Monday.
All orders will be locked, and outstanding balances will be charged next week. This is required for us to send out the instructions and digital download materials.
Once any outstanding charges have cleared, you'll receive instructions on how to join the playtest and sign the required non-disclosure agreement. Due to the sensitive nature of the playtest and number of materials we are sending out, we require all participants to sign an NDA in order to join. Don't worry, we have been doing this for years, and it's a very straightforward agreement. Basically you agree not to post, leak, or talk about anything you receive with anyone outside the playtest, and that's about it. The entire process is automated. There is a website you will be directed to which will allow you to complete the NDA, which will be emailed to you once complete.
After you sign the NDA, you'll be invited to a private Discord server; all aspects of the playtest will occur here. The Deathbringer Beta Test Private Discord Server will be available starting next Monday. Everything going forward will be performed on this server.
We Will "Lock" Orders Next Monday and Charge Cards
In order to start providing you with digital products and any Battlezoo or Shadowdark products you ordered, we need to first "lock" your orders and charge any outstanding balances. We will be doing this next Monday. However, if you need to change your order or your address, you'll still be able to do so no problem. We will give everyone plenty of time to finalize your address before anything ships next year. And if you wish to change your order after it's locked, just write us and let us know.

For those new to this process, here is what happens next:
We will be sending out a survey to all backers; this is often referred to as a "BackerKit survey."
In this survey you will enter your shipping address, select any sizing or similar items (i.e., your t-shirt size, jacket size, etc.), and add any additional items to your order.
If you receive extra items, like statues or death dice, you'll see them on your order and can select options (like statue type).
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete, and then you will be all set as products are released. As digital products are released, you'll return to the BackerKit survey to download digital items. You'll also receive an email alert whenever a new digital product is released and ready for download.
We have been working hard with BackerKit on finalizing the surveys and adding the correct free items to everyone's orders. Right now BackerKti is doing a final review of the survey, and it should be ready to go out shortly. When the surveys go out, here is the process.
We will initially send out the surveys to 5% of the backers, this is referred to as a "smoke test." The smoke test is semi-random; it sends out surveys to all backer types. The purpose of the test is to find any issues and correct them before the survey is sent out to everyone.
A few days after the smoke test is sent out and we are confident that the survey is working correctly, the survey will be sent out to everyone.
As for those who are going to take part in the Deathbringer Beta Test, we have also been working on that. The Beta Test rules are clocking in at around 140 pages so far (without any graphics), so nice and meaty! After the surveys go out, the Deathbringer Beta Test instructions will be sent out shortly afterwards.
So look for another update on the surveys very soon!

Thanks again for your support! Here is an overview of what happens next:
Over the next 2-3 weeks, your funds will be collected, and we'll get confirmation of the funds collected.
For those of you who paid overtime, this process will take 4 months, as your funds will be collected 25% of the total at a time.
In approximately 4 weeks from now, you will receive a survey from BackerKit. This is where you will finalize your order, add your shipping information, add any add-ons, and so on. People have been asking if they can "upgrade" their orders or change their tiers later. This survey is where you will be able to do all of this.
Our surveys are actually a bit more detailed than other campaigns you might have done in the past. We offer many upgrade paths and methods, where you only pay the difference between your original pledge and the new one.
You won't be charged for shipping at this time, only any upgrades or add-ons you select. We don't charge shipping until right before the packages are ready to go out, as we don't know the exact weights and sizes of the boxes yet.
As PDFs are finished, we will provide them for download. The UDTs are nearly complete, so expect to get the digital versions of those shortly after the survey is sent. We'll continue to update everyone with new releases as they are available.
If you purchased the Shadowdark PDFs, you'll have access to them as soon as the survey is completed.
If you are in the Deathbringer playtest, we will contact you directly with instructions in September. So for now just hold tight, but we'll have detailed instructions for all of you shortly.
As the book comes closer to completion, we'll provide additional information. But once the book is ready, everyone will receive the PDF copy right away so they can start using and playing Deathbringer!
