Dear members of Shadowlands Games, On your BackerKit site for “Call of the Sea: The Everhart Expedition” you state: “We are committed to transparency and communication to our backers.“ That is clearly not true. I am deeply frustrated with the current state of communication surrounding this project. There have been no updates for several months, despite the fact that the originally promised shipping window of April 2026 has already passed. At the same time, I am aware that your other projects appear to be in a similarly stalled state, which raises serious concerns about your studio’s capacity to fulfill its commitments. I have been following the updates on your other projects as well, and I have noticed a recurring pattern: printer issues are consistently cited as the reason for delays. While production problems can of course arise, this explanation appearing repeatedly across multiple projects starts to feel less like an isolated incident and more like a systemic issue — or, frankly, a convenient excuse. I would expect a publisher with your experience to either have contingency plans in place or to be more transparent about the root causes. This matters to me personally because my pledge includes not only “Call of the Sea” but also “Scions of the Dark Goddess“. The ongoing delays and lack of communication therefore affect me on multiple fronts simultaneously. I am formally requesting: 1. A clear and honest update on the current status of both projects included in my pledge. 2. A revised and realistic delivery timeline — not a placeholder date. 3. A specific explanation of the printer issues: which printer, what went wrong, and what steps are being taken to resolve it. I backed your projects because I believed in them. Please do not make me regret that decision. Sincerely, David

I would like to request an update regarding the crowdfunding project. At this point, the delay and the complete lack of communication are becoming increasingly concerning. I understand that projects can encounter difficulties, but the absence of any meaningful update for such a long period is worrying not only for me but also for many other backers. I believe it is important that everyone who is concerned to make a post to express their concerns. Supporters have invested their trust and money in this project, and regular communication should be expected, even when there are setbacks. Could you please provide a clear update on the current status of the project and what backers should realistically expect going forward? I look forward to your response.

I think it is important that all backers are aware of something that has happened recently. Several delayed projects, including Terraforming Mars and Call of the Sea, have been hidden or removed from the company's BackerKit profile. These are not completed projects. These are projects that are still affected by significant delays and unresolved concerns from backers. Why would a company choose to make delayed projects less visible? This is not a minor administrative change. Visibility matters. When potential customers visit a company's profile, they should be able to see both its successes and its outstanding obligations. Hiding delayed projects makes it harder for people to understand the company's actual track record and the number of projects that remain undelivered. At a time when communication is already scarce, questions are going unanswered for months, and backers are repeatedly being asked for more patience, the decision to hide delayed campaigns sends a very troubling message. Every backer should be aware that these projects existed on the profile and that they are no longer visible in the same way. Whether there is an innocent explanation or not, the company owes its backers a clear and public explanation for this decision. Transparency means showing the good and the bad. It does not mean making delayed projects disappear from view while asking people to continue trusting the company with new campaigns and more money. The lack of communication is concerning. The delays are concerning. But actively reducing the visibility of delayed projects is, by far, the most alarming development we have seen so far.

Hi, We are still waiting for an update. You have recently updated some of your other delayed projects with little more than excuses, once again promising regular communication and future progress. We all know that, sooner or later, you will post exactly the same kind of update here. What is even more concerning is that you cannot even be bothered to provide updates for this project. At some point, you will likely return asking for more patience and expecting backers to trust your promises of regular updates yet again. The problem is that those promises have been made repeatedly and have not been fulfilled. Many backers are now losing confidence, not only because of the delays, but because of the lack of transparency and communication. If you want people to continue supporting your projects, the very least you can do is keep them informed honestly and consistently.
