LOVELY TERRORS: AN ANTHOLOGY OF VAMPIRIC HORROR is a chilling testament to the irresistible terror of the vampire.
Compiled from the best of the horror-leaning submissions to Exquisite Undead: An Anthology of Vampires, this collection throws open the coffin and invites you to take a close look at the beautiful monstrosity of creatures of the night.
Vampires are a staple of horror, of course; they have been since the earliest tales of undead bloodsuckers first surrounded our campfires. They embody what makes horror so enticing to us: they are beyond our comprehension, they are temptuous, and most notably, they wear our faces. We are drawn to what we don’t understand, we can’t resist a thrill of danger, and we cannot look away from our likeness. The vampire is a perfect vehicle for that which entrances us—and that which frightens us.
But what makes us fear vampires? What, exactly, is the monstrosity of them? Is it that they are bound to darkness—which we associate with deception, or even evil? Is it what they take from us—our blood, our life, our very essence? The stories featured in this anthology center the vampire’s monstrosity—and the irresistibility of it.

Upon successful funding, this anthology will be published in Q4 2027. Backers will receive the anthology and other rewards months earlier, by June 2027.
The Budget
The primary purpose of this crowdfund is to compensate the contributors to the anthology. I wish to match the rate given to the contributors of Exquisite Undead, which thanks to reaching a stretch goal, is $65 for short stories and $30 for poems and flash fiction.
Funds from this campaign will also recoup publishing expenses including the cover art and the purchase of ISBNs for each format in which the book will be published.

Kat Kraehen is an author and artist of queer fantasy and lover of nap time and sweet treats. They write their gay little stories in sunny (HA) western Ireland and live a peaceful and thankfully boring life with their husband and cat familiar, Jiji. Their debut Hail the Rising Tides, a multi-POV romantasy featuring both sapphic and achillean romances, released in April of 2026.
Ellen Kirkpatrick is a third-year college student studying publishing and literature.
August Blaine Centauri is a trickster in a human’s body whose hobbies include stained glass and weightlifting. Thon has six pieces published in online literary magazines. Blaine also has two stories published in anthology books: “Depths of Love: Love Thy Enemy” and “Crawling: A Horror Anthology.”
Lena Ng lives in Toronto, Canada. Her short stories have appeared in publications including Amazing Stories and Flame Tree’s Asian Ghost Stories and Weird Horror Stories. "Under an Autumn Moon" is her short story collection.
J.S. Douglas is a horror author living in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, daughter, dog, and a growing collection of plants. Her work is published in magazines, anthologies, and podcasts, including Rotting Leaf Magazine and Creepypod. Her stories most often address the topics she knows best: existential dread, ghosts, monsters, and the everyday horrors of existence.
Ollie Swasey is an editorial assistant and genre fiction writer. Their work appears in God's Cruel Joke, Bewildering Stories, and elsewhere. They currently reside in Boston with their wife, who is also a writer, and their cat, who is not.
A.E. Bennett is a novelist and poet living in Northern Virginia. She grew up on base at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
Allie Leigh is a Canadian author who enjoys Dungeons and Dragons, crochet, and petting all the dogs. Some of her previously published works have appeared in The Stygian Zine and Heartlines Spec. You can find her online at allieleigh.com.
Bailey Elizabeth is a bookstore owner and author of an ever-growing catalogue of weird, genre-bending horror and romance books. Her previous works include The Unexpected Series, a paranormal romance saga, PANE, a sapphic, cosmic horror novella, and more. When she isn’t writing or shelving books, she can be found taking care of her many rescues, concocting new soups, and adventuring outdoors.
Hallo! I’m Talli, aka T. L. Morgan, and I’m still very normal about vampires! Obviously!
Well, maybe "normal" isn't strictly true here. What I am, however, is an indie author, artist, and tireless vampire enthusiast. I write all over the fantasy genre, from cozy romance to epic, Gothic tales. My recent publications include Silver Blood and Shattered City—my vampire romance series—and accompanying novellas.
Since 2021 I have published 7 novels, 3 novellas, and 1 previous anthology. My books have been repeatedly nominated for the Indie Ink Awards, and my debut, The Oracle Stone, was a finalist in 2022. In 2024 I released my first anthology, Transcendence: An Anthology of Change, which features 8 speculative fiction stories, and in 2027 I will release Exquisite Undead: An Anthology of Vampires, which is currently in the editorial stages following a successful Kickstarter earlier in 2026.
I’m also not a stranger to crowdfunding. In 2025 I successfully funded an audiobook edition of my vampire romance novel, Silver Blood, which reached and exceeded its goal in just 10 days, and my campaign for Exquisite Undead exceeded its goal by over $1000.
I'm thrilled that my previous vampire anthology garnered so much interest to justify a second one. The stories in Lovely Terrors are exceptional pieces, and I'm eager to get them into your hands.
