Project FAQ
All six books have already been published and this project is for new covers as well as a fresh round of editing depending on meeting the stretch goals. So the release will depend on how soon the covers and editing are to be done! I estimate a period of three to six months after the campaign ends and pledges are collected
Niranjan is the name of my deceased son. When I first started publishing, I wrote books based on Hindu Mythology mostly under my legal name. But as I diversified to other areas of fantasy as well as Sci Fi, I decided to rebrand those under a different pen name, and I chose my son's name as a way of honouring his memory.
That’s the plan. As an Indian, I definitely want to see these books shipped out here to readers in India, and therefore I do plan to ship worldwide.
Drop shipping is shipping directly from the manufacturer to the addressee. In this case, I will be using Ingram Spark to ship directly to the backers instead of having them send everything to me and then me shipping it out. It’s a big save on shipping costs to utilise drop shipping.
Shipping costs are calculated by Ingram at the time of shipping. While I can guesstimate, I would rather wait for the actual time of shipping because tariffs and rates can change making any current calculations obsolete. Ingram does have a calculation sheet on their site that you can refer to at a pinch. https://help.ingramspark.com/hc/en-us/articles/5337658946445-How-Are-Shipping-Charges-Calculated Shipping charges will be added later around the time books are ready to be sent out, and charged to your cards. Please take care to keep the card details updated at the time!
As a creator from India, shipping books directly is an impossibility and hence I'm opting for drop shipping directly from Ingramspark. Since Ingram has printing at most places, I hope to use them to get your goodies to you asap once all the pledges are collected and orders placed. I would expect that process to take at least a month after the campaign is done, so any time from September to December 2026 would be a reasonable estimate! The audiobooks if funded are likely to take longer, say around a year to 18 months from the campaign end, so any time between June 2027 to December 2027.
Space Wizard Science Fantasy is a queer science fiction and fantasy indie publishing company started in 2016 to publish William C. Tracy's books. Ten books, six years, a pandemic, and quitting a day job later, the publishing company opened its doors to more authors. Their intent has always been to showcase quality science fiction and fantasy stories with queer characters, because they don't get enough exposure in the publishing world. As a creator from India, avenues like Backerkit and Kickstarter are closed to me, and hence, I reached out to William, who is a friend and an awesome writer himself, who agreed to imprint this edition of The Elite and the Rogues for the campaign. While I’m in charge of the campaign and fulfilment, William via Space Wizard will be collecting the pledges and do the heavy lifting.
Oh yes, I have a cat named Pluto who is the lord of my house. She's a terror and very grumpy. She sometimes looks very meek and cute, but it's all just a trick to lower your guard so she can cast her spell on you and enslave you. As cat overlords go, she's very demanding and if you haven't yet paid tribute to her, she shall curse you with eternal misery.
BackerKit FAQ
BackerKit Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing collaborative funding platform. Creators share their project ideas and set a funding goal with a deadline. Backers pledge money to help make the project possible.
If the project meets its goal by the deadline, pledges are charged and the creator moves forward. If it doesn’t, no one is charged.
Backers often receive special rewards for their support, such as:
- Exclusive products
- Bonus rewards for backing related projects
- Discount pricing
- Behind-the-scenes updates
- Creative input opportunities
Pledging in crowdfunding is a commitment to support the creation of a new product or project. Unlike a traditional purchase, you're not buying an item that already exists. Instead, your contribution helps bring a creative idea to life, and in return, you typically receive rewards (such as the product itself) as a thank you for your early support.
- Select a pledge level with the reward(s) you would like to receive
- Select any add-ons
- Confirm your pledge!
- You are charged only if the campaign meets its funding goal.
- Charges happen when the campaign ends, not when you pledge.
The creator will send you a survey to:
- Ask you for more information about your rewards (selecting options, etc)
- Collect shipping information
- Offer additional items you may want to add to your pledge
- Collect shipping fees (if applicable)
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge. Additional payments are charged when you complete the survey.
Only the project creator and the BackerKit Support Team can see your pledge and contact information. Other backers and the public cannot see your individual pledge amount or personal details.
You can change or adjust your pledge level and add-ons before the campaign ends. After the project concludes, cancellations or changes are at the creator's discretion and may depend on what stage the project is in.
Overtime Mode extends your campaign past its original end time to give backers a final chance to make their pledge. It will add an additional 10 minutes past the end time as long as pledges keep coming in. The campaign will end when there is a 10-minute period without any new pledges.
