Project Update: Star Pharaoh Royal Hexaguard WIP
Hello backers and followers,
I apologize for the extreme lateness of this post. Let's get to the meat of it before I launch into any soliloquies. Here is what I have so far for the next Strike Team. There are 9 types of agents, and I've finished... 3 of them, and their variants.
It's starting to dawn on me, perhaps a little too late, the immense workload to which I have committed. So far, of 24 strike teams to which I have committed, I have only finished 8 of them. The 9th one will be finished soon, but still, these teams are simply taking much, much longer than anticipated.
This team in particular helped me realize just how much work there is still to do. Why? Because I have already made (practically) an entire army of Star Pharaohs, and it's not actually saved me any time making this team. Sure, I had to generate much less geometry than compared to a scratch-built team, but getting the original 28mm Ascended star Pharaohs into their new scale and cramming them into the Port-O-Battle workflow turned out to be a right pain in the arse, just like all the other teams have been.
When I made Port-O-Bowl, I reached a sort of progress cascade. Each team, no matter how detailed, took much less work than all the previous teams, as I had a big catalog to draw from. Towards the end I would make a team in days that had more detail than the teams from the beginning of the project, which took weeks. I thought Port-O-Battle would be the same way. It's proving not to be the case. Strike teams for Port-O-Battle have so many positionals and weapons variations that no matter how much time I supposedly have saved by doing the work earlier, there is that much more work ahead.
Perhaps I'll reach that progress cascade later, but for now it feels like every new team has to be built from the ground up.
I guess what I'm saying is, bear with me!
During Port-O-Bowl, when it came to light that I would have to print all the promised physical sets myself, I got to work, and over the course of 2024, I got all the sets out, though it took me longer than anticipated.
Looks like that's what I'm going to for Port-O-Battle too. It's time to roll up the sleeves and get to work, no matter the challenges.
For questions about progress of Port-O-Battle, feel free to message me on the Port-O-Battle Discord. While it exists, that is, as I plan on merging all my discords to the Star Pharaoh Foundry one.
