We wanted to take you for your patience while the team worked to get everything together. If you were not aware, we had an issue come up in another campaign that ultimately resulted in the pledge manager for this project not being available before Gen Con.
Thankfully we were able to get everything sorted and approved and now nearly 60% of you have completed your surveys! Thank you to those that jumped right in to get your surveys completed.
This is our first project using the pay over time feature, and we must remind you (and ourselves) that you will only receive your invite to the pledge manager following the successful payment of your final installment.
Backers that were set to receive the 4th Edition Revised PDF will find the file in their digital locker within BackerKit. We will link them to your Warehouse 23 accounts at a later date, closer to when we finalize and lock surveys.

To future up-timers, down-timers and everything in between . . . Thank you for coming out to support both GURPS Ring of Fire and the 1632 series!
The team here moving their way to wrapping things up to send to print, with just a few more hurdles to overcome. While that team is working on getting the final pieces in place and necessary approvals, we'll be getting the pledge manager ready to open as soon as possible. Be on the lookout for an update and email invite to the pledge manager over the next few weeks.
Late Pledges
Late pledges are now open! Sometimes two weeks just isn't enough notice, so we made sure to open Late Pledges as soon as possible. Late pledging won't be open forever, so please get your late pledge in ASAP to secure your copy of GURPS Ring of Fire!
Again, thank you all so much for coming out and showing your support! If you have any questions, please leave a comment below or visit our help page.
I am writing this from LibertyCon in Chattanooga. This is where, a few years ago, I met Eric Flint and told him how much I enjoyed 1632 and the sequels . . . and the talk grew into a deal for the official GURPSRing of Fire book.
Which is what (I hope) you are supporting now.
This is not a sales pitch - it’s just a letter to thank you for your support and tell you what I’m up to.
This year’s convention hasn’t even started yet, and it’s already special. I just had lunch with Griffin Barber and Charles E. Gannon, two of the GURPS Ring of Fire writers. I’ll be at the 1632 breakfast and will meet some series creators I have never gotten to talk to - and it will be my first face-to-face meeting with Bjorn Hasseler, our Continuity Editor, whose task it is to make sure that every word in the book agrees with series canon.
I’m excited.
The other thing I’m excited about is this: We are talking to one of the top Actual Play troupes about creating a Ring of Fire one-shot which would drop about the time the book comes out. So you’ll be able to see the game played by some really fun people before you start your own campaign. A thought that was floated at lunch today . . . ask the book’s authors to create the characters that will be used in the one-shot! I like that idea and we’ll see where it goes. (No, I’m not naming the troupe because nothing is signed. When there is a real commitment and a real schedule, I’ll share.)
We're back with a new update; this time we have a sneak peek of the internals in hand to share with you!
The team responsible for getting everything ready has been working hard to lock down some of the final assets, such as the all-new maps we've created specifically for GURPS Ring of Fire and the new character art pieces we're having illustrated.
We wanted to share some of the pages that are typically found in a PDF preview. Please remember that these are still in progress, and are not yet final or fully approved.
Too small? Open image in a new window!

GURPS Magical Styles: Modern Magic
An all-new supplement is now available on Warehouse 23, GURPS Magical Styles: Modern Magic!
GURPS Magical Styles: Modern Magic explores possibilities loosely inspired by present-day practices, real and fictional, without automatically assuming that magic is fantastic, old-fashioned, or evil. It offers five styles built on the GURPS Thaumatology: Magical Styles. Click here to read more on Warehouse 23.
That's all we have for today! If you have a question, please leave a comment below or visit our help page.
We hope you've been having a great week so far. We have a few small updates to share with you that are worthy of an official update.
Pay Over Time
We recently turned on the Pay Over Time feature, which allows backers to split up their pledge into equal payments. This is the first time we've used this feature on any of our projects, and we’ll be looking at all of the details of how this plays out, as well as any feedback we hear from backers.
Pay Over Time will become available to backers pledging more than $150. Click here to learn more about the Pay Over Time feature.
Trust & Safety
It was recently brought to our attention by the Trust & Safety team at BackerKit that they had identified malicious content posted on the project page. First, thank you to the backers that reported these posts. This made it possible for the team at BackerKit to address this promptly.
These posts impersonated BackerKit staff and linked to fake verification pages NOT hosted by BackerKit.
We want to remind you that BackerKit will NEVER ask you to verify your account or payment details through an external link and that official communications from their team will always have a staff badge. If you see any further suspicious activity, please report the post and let us know so their team can investigate.
