Greetings everyone. I was alerted Friday that Canadian backers of the physical books have had to pay extremely high import fees for their pledge. I feel awful about this, and have spent the weekend trying to figure out what to do to make it right. From what I can gather, the fee applies only to books sent via UPS. We use Pirate Ship to fulfill international orders, and there was no indication on our end that Canadian backers were going to be hit with these fees. We just select UPS by default when it is the cheapest means of shipping, which it often is.
I honestly don't know the best way to handle it. If you're uncomfortable paying the fee, refuse the package and let me know and we'll send out another book through a different carrier. Sorry for the issues.
Good morning, and I hope that everyone is doing well. I received word that the first batch of books is supposed to be delivered this Friday. I'm going to go ahead and lock the addresses on Thursday, so if you need to make a change now is the time to do it. With any luck we'll start packing and mailing out books this weekend.
Hey everyone, just wanted to drop in a quick update. I submitted print files for the POD versions last week, so they should be here in another couple of weeks, and I just approved the print proofs today. In the time from when I priced out the original books to now, print prices from my US printer almost doubled, plus I had issues with books shipped by them being damaged in shipping, so these books will be printed by PrintNinja, in China. I have had good luck with them in the past and their print prices are in line with what I had originally been quoted for the price by Mixam in February. I'm having enough books to fulfill the KS airmailed so I can get that fulfilled quickly, and then the rest will be sent via container ship.

Howdy everyone! I just got the last two pieces of art in, and am going to begin the process of slotting them in. I hope to have the pdf done by the middle of next week, if not sooner. Everyone will be getting an updated link to the Drivethru file via Backerkit when I upload it.
I'm going to let it sit for a week or so in case anyone notices something that slipped through final proofreading, and then I'll place the orders for print versions.
I will be locking orders and charging cards in the next few days so I can get an accurate count on offset books to order. I'll be locking addresses when the books are about a week out, to give y'all a chance to change addresses before you move. Thanks so much, again.
I had a backer ask about timeline for closing the pledge manager and figured I'd post an update. I try not to spam y'all. Right now about 98% of the art is in. There are still a few pieces left to go, and they should be in by the middle of July. As soon as those come in I'll plop them into the book and send out the revised pdf. I'll give it a week to sit, and then if everything is good I'll send the print files in. We're still on schedule for them going out in August.
As to locking the pledge manager, I would like to do that when I send the revised pdf out, in the middle of July, so I can get a finalized count. I recognize that money can sometimes be tight, so if you're looking to budget just let me know and I'll see what I can do. In the meanwhile, here's a chapter head illo from Michelle Smallwood.
