BackerKit FAQ
How does BackerKit crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding is a collaborative way to bring ideas and projects to life. Project creators post their idea for a project, and backers pledge money to make the project possible. Backers get behind the scenes access and backer-only rewards, which can include exclusive products, special pricing, creative input, content, and more.
To become a backer, select a pledge level that features the reward(s) you would like to receive when the project is successfully completed and make your contribution.
All-or-nothing crowdfunding model: The creator sets a funding goal and a deadline to raise funds. If the project does not meet the goal by the deadline, backers credit cards are not charged and no money changes hands.
Crowdfunding projects can happen at various stages of the creative process. Make sure to check the estimated timeline of when rewards will be delivered. Project creators will keep you updated on the progress toward completion and delivery of your rewards.
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not the same as purchasing an item from a store. When you back a campaign you are supporting the creation of something new. Rewards are almost always delivered, but are not guaranteed.
When will I be charged for my pledge?
Your payment method will not be charged right away. You will be charged for the amount of your pledge when the campaign ends and the project reaches its funding goal. You will not be charged if the campaign does not reach its funding goal.
What happens after the campaign is over?
The Creator will send out a survey that will ask you for more information about your pledge, your shipping information, additional items you may want to add to your pledge, and collect shipping fees if applicable.
The survey will be sent to the email address we have on file with your pledge.
Any additional payment will be charged when you complete your survey and confirm your order.
Project FAQ
An Infamous Traffic?
We are still working on a Second Edition of AIT and we have every hope to bring a fully realized version of AIT with a high-quality production to crowdfunding soon.
What about Kickstarter?
We've have been working with Backerkit since our very first Kickstarter project and have always been impressed with the professionalism of their team and the care with which they handled our projects. Over the past couple of years, BackerKit has been building out a really great crowdfunding platform as an alternative to Kickstarter. Although we still love our partners at Kickstarter, we wanted to see what BackerKit had to offer. Their platform was built with direct involvement from creators like Wehrlegig to feature tools and policies we always wanted to see on Kickstarter. This includes, among other things, a offering creators a clear set of policies with respect to blockchain technologies and AI-generated content. We're proud to be their partners and help them launch their crowdfunding platform.
Is Molly House finished?
No! We love sharing unfinished games during crowdfunding campaigns to show our backers how our work changes and grows over time. We are still refining mechanical and thematic groundwork of Molly House, so there is work to be done still on everything from art and layout to balance and flavor text. Physical component design may change a bit too, but everything is relatively representative of what we expect from the final production copies and won't change too drastically from what we're imagining.
Will there be language localizations?
We hope so! Right now, we're only making English language versions of Molly House. After we complete the game and start the first printing, we'll start talking with our language localization partners for future collaborations on Molly House collaborations.
Will this come to retail?
Hopefully someday. We pride ourselves in primarily being supported by backers like you! This direct model allows us to spend a higher amount of the budget on quality components and art. We also work with many brick and mortar, online retailers, only recently US distributors that want to sell our games. If you want your local game store to stock anything Wehrlegig, they can reach out to us over at [email protected] and hopefully they will place a retail order with us!
How much for shipping?
Shipping costs are charged after the campaign, usually processed around 1 month away from delivery! These rates are calculated by the size and weight of your parcel and especially the country of delivery. For folks ordering multiple games, your shipping charge is going to increase by about 40% the additional weight and box size. Multiple games makes things more expensive to move around the world! If you need an exact estimate for shipping an especially larger order, start a thread in the discussion or send an email to [email protected] for us to help you plan for that order.
