Happy Pride! May was a whirlwind in personal life, and I had very little time to work on Doors when not at my day job. I've just been plugging away at the comic since I've been back. Here's a (mostly) finished lineart of page 1. There's still some cleanup to do, but
*Toji Fushiguro Voice* I think I'm getting my edge back.
Now that I've worked out this clusterfuck of a page, production should go a lot faster. After I have a lineart art of each page, I'll port them into the master doc and get a few proofs printed of both softcover and hardcover. Expect some more comics updates before proof photos.
I've been busy with some life stuff the past month, but I've also been plugging away at the comic. Next is importing them to digital and beginning first pass of lineart. Check out some of the pencil compositions below.
I also received the patches a little while ago. Very pleased with how they came out.
I've been cracking away at the Example of Play comic that sits at the end of the GM's Tools section in Doors of Dimensia. I got green light from all of my players in my Fabula Ultima campaign (that playtested Dimensia many times over many multiversal travels) to portray them and their player characters as the party in the comic. Huge thank you to the Piques of Certainty for this. Excited to play with y'all this upcoming Sunday to further explore the Nechronopolis!
Below you can get a bit of a vibe for the eventual style of the comic. Can you tell the only other medium I ever even think about is manga? So far everything is right on time. I also got the stickers in.
Patches are coming in as I type this. See ya in the next comic update!
Sup ya nerds. Lots going on in this update. Lots to think about moving forward.
All the extras are in production. Very psyched to see those rendered in meatspace. Drafting the text/art/layout of Dimensia is 99% done. I've been experiencing feature creep since the crowdfunding so I've officially capped myself on page count. The last bits to finish off for the book are the example of play comic (now 7 pages) and the character sheet for the Knave/Troika hack. After that, it's off to proofreading and editing. Once all that's done, I'll send out the PDFs to backers while I get printing on the road. Speaking of:
I've been considering upgrading the base zine to a nice perfect bound softcover book like the print copies of Active Time Event!!! It would cut into my take-home pay a little, but after assembling a bunch of zines over the weekend for FLUKE! 2026, I've been thinking that a perfect bound print may just be better overall. It's not what I originally advertised, but it would read to many people as a strict upgrade. I've attached a poll to this update to get a vibe on how backers feel about this.
I've been cracking away at finishing the text, art, and layouts of Doors of Dimensia. It will still be a few weeks before I have a proper beta PDF. In the meantime, the side stuff is going into production. I'll probably redesign the stickers for the bundle as the one on the crowdfunding page was kinda slapped together on the fly as was the patch mockup. Speaking of, here's a proper draft of the patch design I finished today.
The final will look pretty close to this! Old school punk style screen printing white paint on black canvas. Crisp.
