Project Update: Yo Dudes & Dudettes! The Humble Dude's New Sketchbook Needs YOU!
Alright folks, gather 'round! Your friendly neighborhood artist, Steve Rude (the one with the crippling art supply habit!), is back with a brand new sketchbook project: The Art of Steve Rude 2025 Sketchbook!
We just wanted to let everyone know that work on the comic is currently underway, and to say thank you to everyone for their patience. We joined onto the comictopia project on rather short notice, but during the campaign it became clear that while we love Backerkit for our fulfillment solution, we've just built up too much of a an audience on Kickstarter to try and move everyone over here. So we will be launching issue 1, the full issue, over on Kickstarter next month, and we will have enough art to finalize assembly of the ashcan very soon.
Artist Antonio Baldari also had to take on another gig unexpectedly but is back working on CSR, and also contributed this awesome cover for the upcoming full length issue.
So hopefully if everything lines up right, you will have the ashcans in hand just as everyone is starting to talk about the first issue, before it goes to press. This will also get a wide circulation through comic book stores nation/world-wide, making this limited ashcan release something special. As soon as the new kickstarter pre-launch page is live we will share that too. More to come soon!

You can buy the book on Amazon as of today, still no update on when the people that supported the project will get it, but hey, you can give them more money and get it from Amazon! Seriously, at this point what possible excuses can they give to not ship out our books? Can we please have an official update?

It's been over a month since my card was charged for shipping, but I still have not received my items. We're nearing the 2 year mark of this project, and I am growing concerned. I pledged for the Doghaus Kickstarter, but with this huge delay I'm nervous about keeping my pledge on that project.

This project is currently under active review by BackerKit’s Trust & Safety team due to ongoing concerns around lack of fulfillment updates and communication. As part of this review, we have formally required the creator (ABLAZE) to provide a project-specific public update addressing fulfillment status, timelines, and tracking. As of our most recent correspondence, the creator has confirmed receipt of our notice and stated that they are actively gathering the requested details from their fulfillment partner (Simon & Schuster) in order to provide a complete update. At this time, we are awaiting that update. We have made it clear to the creator that continued lack of transparency may impact their account standing and ability to use BackerKit services.

The last update two months ago said shipping was about to start. I haven't received mine yet. Has anyone?
Project Update: An Update on Shipping
For reasons outside my control, the logistics company was not able to get the Star-Spangled Squadron books loaded onto the transport ship before the start of the Lunar New Year Celebration in China. Instead, the books languished in the warehouse during the multi-week festival. I made a number of attempts to work around this, but China simply shuts down during the holiday; there was no one to even communicate with, let alone to arrange alternate freight.
Now that Lunar New Year is past, the books have been loaded but the net result is that they will not arrive until the end of this month or early next month, and thus shipping to you will not take place until mid to late April.
My sincere apologies for the delay. It is difficult to avoid the feeling that this project has suffered more than its share of problems. Perhaps we can blame the sinister machinations of Exodus.

Project Update: March (only slight Madness) Update!
It's going to be a short one this month. We're all chugging away at work- Melissa's just sent in some new inks that are looking wonderful (and showcasing a truly heartbreaking character backstory!). Jordaan is gearing up for a dialogue pass on the script, and I... well, in all honesty, I've been a bit absent because this week marked a new addition to my family.
He's 5 pounds, has the most beautiful grey eyes, and has taken a liking to all of my slippers.
We should still be on schedule, but we'll let you know if anything changes. Until next month, all the best to you and yours! And because it is illegal to mention you got a puppy without sharing a picture...

So since the author and aBlaze seem to have washed their hands of the project, I did some digging. The distribution company website has the book for sale on their site and lists the shipping date as march 31, hopefully that means that they will ship our books by then.
