Streams, Interviews, and more!

Thanks for joining us on our first ever Mothership Month! 👽

PSA: What about shipping?

While it would be amazing if we could bundle all the shipping together, currently with each project's different location, fulfillment timeline, and process it's not feasible for everything to be shipped together. It's a difficult logistical problem to solve and we've got some ideas for next year to help relieve shipping burdens. A few projects may ship together based on the publisher, see each project's page for details.

Project Update: Adventure themes selected! Closing in on an achievement!

Fellow explorers!

The votes are in! We’re excited to announce the themes for the two one-page adventures:
  • Cryopod Cache: A wreck filled with frozen secrets waiting to be thawed, with a monstrous surprise.
  • Sabotage: A high-stakes mission to destroy a key resource, while testing your crew's loyalty and sanity.

The competition was fierce, and Lost Convoy came in a very close third. We love this idea too, and we’re exploring opportunities to bring it to life in the future. Stay tuned!

With less than a week left, we’re in the final stretch of the campaign. And we are so close to unlocking our next achievement, which is to print both of these adventures as a physical freebie for all physical pledges. Let’s make it happen!

Help us cross the finish line strong by sharing this project with your friends, gaming groups, and anyone who loves Mothership. Every share helps us unlock even more content!

Until next time!

Project Update: Free Bifold Adventure + MoSh Madness Loser's Bracket, Round 1

Hello folks,

If you missed it, I have been releasing interviews with Mothership Month creators:

The eight of us all together co-wrote a free bifold bounty depthcrawl, Raider Bounty of Gilgamesh-VII!

This adventure was inspired by Wages of Sin and the city of Midgar in Final Fantasy VII. The game was released on itch.io and you can grab it here for free!

We hope you enjoy it!

MoSh Madness Accelerated Loser's Bracket

Ok, at least I got THIS one right, our second champ is browncoat Mal Reynolds!

Now that we have our second place to pop into the Loser's Bracket. This is inspired by the way my high school friends and I used to do all-night Super Smash Bros 64 tournaments, 20+ years ago. It's a bit silly maybe, but it is fun. (Funny thing, I am still terrible at SSB64.) Here is the Loser's Bracket:

Voting is one day only!

I know who I am rooting for in Round 1! Cast your vote for the SF Scoundrel Underdog!

All best,
Chris Airiau

Project Update: 10K goals, free game jam module, The Panic Table Interview

Hey folks,

I’m going to be out of action from now till Sunday but wanted to get a small update out before then. Hence, I’m writing this in a rush on public transport, so expect even more typos than usual.

Stretch Goals
TDMTP unlocked the £10K stretch goal on Tuesday by hitting exactly £10K:

Madness! This means we’re making the full TV ad in-game for Hope’s Serum, which is going to be sweet as!

Additional Stretch Goals
I’ve decided not to push things further with additional stretch goals. I want to keep timings on track and avoid falling victim to scope creep. We’re up to 16 pages of module now so I’ve quite a bit of writing to do before Christmas gets in the way.

Free Game Jam Module

As part of the Mothership Game Jam, Chris Air has brought together all of us first-time Mothership creators to contribute to a cool new free module: Raider Bounty of Gilgamesh VII. It’s really awesome! Go get it on Itch now and check out the other game jam content—it finishes today!

Panic Table Interview

I’ll be doing a rescheduled interview on The Panic Table, as long as Cameron can get a decent signal somewhere at PAX U! I think timings will be 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST / 7 PM GMT, but there’s a chance we might be recording then to broadcast later, depending on the signal. Will keep you posted.

Cheers!
Andrew
If we hit this funding goal, we'll make the full TV ad for Hope's Serum, as seen in our trailer for The Dose Makes The Poison
Goal: £10,000 reached! — We did it! This project reached this goal!

Project Update: Ruck up Bullet catcher!

Small visual update: Gear you can get during this Campaign:

🎯First up, the Community reward: more patches! But as a sticker sheet!
As you know, every campaign has some kind of goodie for all of you who helped make Mothership Month a reality by supporting the projects. So, here’s mine.

Every physical pledge during this campaign will get a sticker sheet featuring several of the mercenary patches you can roll for your characters in the zine. Design was by me, but the final touch in "patchifying it" was done by talented Carlson from Devils Due !

If you’re lucky enough to roll one of these patches for your character, you can stick it right onto your sheet to make it extra fancy! Or, use them to pimp out your laptop or anything else to show off how tough you are!

And that’s not all - every pledge will also include .png files for all the patches separately as part of the campaign rewards. That way, you can use them however you’d like!

🗺️Next one is the upgrade for map.

Each Deluxe pledge will include a printed map that’s dry-erase friendly, allowing you to mark your plans and track enemy movements without worrying about damaging it.

On the reverse side of the map, you’ll find the cover art in its full glory. Use it as a poster or to give your players a vivid illustration of the hellhole they’ve just entered.

Additionally, every pledge will include a high-resolution digital version of the map in both color and black-and-white, making it easy to print at home.

I’m still tinkering with the colors, styles, and some graphic details, but I wanted to share my progress with you!

Currently, I have two versions:
  • One with CRT scanlines
  • One with a damaged paper look
Not sure which one works better - what do you think? Which one do you like more?

🦜 And now some links and interviews!
If you’re curious to learn more about me and the background of this module, here are a few interviews and collaborations to check out:

🎙️ Interview with Ben from Columbary TTRP (funding Knowledge Asymmetry)
I had a great conversation with Ben, where we talked about this module and some behind-the-scenes insights into it:

🎙️ Mini-interview with Chris from 5MW
Chris, who’s involved in several projects (he has a contributions for Devils Due, mentioned earlier, and ic crowdfunding his own Not Enough Scoundrels), and I had a mini-interview about the module:

🛠️ Mothership Tavern Jam Contributions
I also made a small, fun, and not-too-serious mini-dungeon filled with traps:

Additionally, I worked with a fantastic group of creators from Mothership Month on another project, overseen and curated by Chris from 5MW:

🏁 See you soon, we are approaching the finish line!
Btw. which patch is your favorite? ;-)

Hey there! I saw the physical versions of Voidstream listed in the available Add-ons, but only the digital ones appeared to be available? I added those, cause they look rad! But I did want to ask if the physical versions are still available to add as well?

Project Update: Weekend Update #3: More Art, New Add-Ons, and Project Updates

Hi Everyone,

Quick check-in this week to keep you in the loop on behind the scenes happenings with Awaiting the Burning Gods.

Lets Start with some New Art!

The hits keep coming as Daniel is working through the many art pieces I've commissioned to bring the creatures and landscapes of Ma'at to life. This week I've got our first NPC feature - the no-nonsense leader of the Landis University research team, Dr. Sylvia Dehavilland. Plus, who is that sneaking up behind her? I'm sure it's nothing right? Right?
Dr. Sylvia Dehavilland

New Add-Ons

By request I've added a few more items to the add-ons section. Now you can add additional copies of the Awaiting the Burning Gods zine in case you want one for a friend, for your players, or to keep on the shelf while your other copy takes a beating at the table. I won't judge! ;-). I've also made copies of the Dying Hard on Hardlight Station prequel pamphlet adventure, The Horror on Tau Sigma 7, available too. It's a tight one-shot that works great as a lead in for further adventures in Nakatomi Sector 1365 or as a tight stand alone scenario to introduce new players to the world of Mothership.

Project Update

We're slowly but surely edging our way toward the Smuggler's Guide bonus zine stretch goal. While the campaign continues DAI, Daniel and I have been hard at work. You've seen some of Daniel's work already. Meanwhile I've been focused on drafting out the job board for the smuggler's guide. It's a lot of fun and I'm putting extra attention into it since it is the most popular part of the book based on the poll so many of completed. I've been planning out the audio aids as well and even made a few small tweaks to the book itself; creatin more opportunities for PCs to encounter the audio logs left behind by Landing Party A in their search for survivors among the ruins.

While I've been working on that, DAI has been laying out the text of the zine itself. Even with the Smuggler's Guide content separated out into its own book we're looking at around 32-36 pages for just the Awaiting the Burning Gods adventure alone. Awesome!

Alright, that's a wrap for this week. Questions, comments, hellos? Reach out in the comments below - I'm happy to answer anything you'd like to know about the zine and the production process. The home stretch of the campaign approaches! Thanks for being a part of this ride so far, can't wait for what comes next.

All the best,

Dave
This is the big one! The Smuggler’s Guide becomes its own zine, featuring “Shoot the Messenger”, a thrilling bonus adventure by DG Chapman (Haunting of Ypsilon 14, Another Bug Hunt).
Goal: C$81,118 / C$100,000
81%
We need C$18,882 more to reach this goal.

Project Update: Artist Insight

Hey everyone, we hope your holiday weekend was good for those of you who celebrated! We're back this week with some insight into the creation of the visual side of things from artist Boson Au. Check it out!

Hey everyone, Boson here with a couple of words about the visual side of things.

From the conversations with CK about the world, I felt the overarching theme and general feeling about this project to be “attrition.” While each might have a drastically different approach, every survivor in this series is consumed with picking up the pieces, licking their wounds, and just trying to stay alive.

This is a story of the aftermath. I hope the art illustrates their scars: physical, emotional, and mental adequately. I wanted the technology to be “advanced enough” with obvious shortcuts made and less than ideal repairs abundant.

As for technicals: Procreate is the tool, with the default “technical pen” that's been heavily customized for my particular pressure tendencies from bad ergonomics. Lots of tropes from 90s comic art (or homages if you wanna be nice). Generous uses of layers to self correct, etc…. Typical digital artist shit. For color, I almost always start with lassos and complementary colors, then something dry brushy or gouche in low opacity for layering. I definitely utilize a great brushpack from Jason Piperberg (
https://jasonpiperberg.gumroad.com/l/hKBUm) for the Kirby Krackle effect. Please support the brushmakers, every dollar helps.

Oh, and as for the video soundtrack: it’s my buddy’s band Outsick! from Baltimore, MD. (
https://outsickhc.bandcamp.com/) . Grown ass folk making HC Punk about annoying Grown Ass topics. Drop them a listen on their soundcloud/insta/youtube/what have you.
