My author journey started with a little novella called Masks.

Almost ten years later, I've embraced the art of heartwarming queer stories with cozy elements.

Masks will always have a special place as the book that started it all. Avari is the character of my heart. I was never quite happy with Masks, but it was a product of its time and my inexperience as an author.

For years, ideas have been simmering in the back of my head for a bigger, better, and more badass version of Avari's story that reaches epic proportions more like superhero movies. Finally, I'm ready to put that story into words. Think of it like going from one iteration of Spider-Man movies to another! That's essentially what I'm doing.

Enter: The Masks Records

The Extraordinaries meets Vicious in Fire and Feathers (The Masks Records Book 1), a completely revamped, retold version of Amara's first published book, Masks. Fire and Feathers will appeal to fans of supervillains and superheroes, enemies to lovers, and grump x sunshine romance.

My name is Avari Li. Social outcast, orphan, and winged pyrokinetic.

All my life I've been alone, looked down on, and bullied. I've learned to trust nobody and only look out for number one: myself.

Then I'm paired up with classmate Chayton for a research paper. My patience and collected calm are tested to their limits by his nice guy act.

For the first time in awhile, I lose control of my abilities.

Might as well make the best of the situation. So, I seek revenge on those who wronged me as a way to let off steam.

Meanwhile, Chayton won't stop pushing my buttons, breaking down my carefully constructed barriers. Before I know it, we become inseparable, and a spark of romance ignites between us.

With a corrupt corporate sponsor trying to take Chayton under his wing, and a pesky superhero appearing to thwart my revenge at every turn, college is going to prove to be more challenging—and thrilling—than I thought. 

So much for flying under the radar.

What is the project timeline?
The release date for the book widely is August 23, 2027. Target fulfillment is by the release date at latest.


What are the risks of this project?
This is an all or nothing campaign. You only pay if funding succeeds.

Amara has been publishing books for 10 years, and has successfully funded and fulfilled one prior campaign.


What is the refund policy?
Digital rewards are non-refundable. Any physical rewards are non-refundable if they have already shipped. If there is an issue with any physical merchandise, a replacement may be provided.
