Project Update: Ending Soon, Dragons Overcooked Kitchen!

Hey All!
We're hard at work, getting the calendar layout going, and finishing up the last few pieces.
We've got 5  days left, and if there are any calendar images that are a favorite of yours please share it with your friends to get the word out (or buy an additional one as a gift, that works too!)

For this post, I want to take a moment to show off our process of our Overcooked piece!

To start out, sketches!
Using some maps of overcooked as inspiration (and adjusting to a wide page layout.
Initially I was thinking something like the horde mode where wed have wyrmlings on the sides, instead we opted for a more 'boss mode' where you're feeding the dragon, and the little wymlings may interefere (burning or eating things on the stove).

Koit had the idea of kobolds,  sort of serving the dragon, which makes a ton of sense.

Then it came down to placement of the map  and firming down details

A flat color pass of the background, and a couple of overlayed graphics to see where things may go

detail pass

UI, chefs, wyrmlings and more of the glowing effects

Here we noticed that the stage was a little funny shaped and that we should take advantage of the whole area (no need to have two visual walls

Also we talked quite a bit at what kind of food should the dragon be cooking. Should it be all meat? or something else?
IDK why but i came across burnt rice recipies, and perfect timing, because that seems fitting for a dragon to enjoy burnt foods.
So we ended up with Chicken Skewers and Tahdig (also known as scorched rice), which is typically cooked with saffron and served with yogurt.

So icons for the food, and updated plate positioning

We made some additional layout adjustments, to the cutting board, ink and pots to not only make it more 'playable' but also visually clear (like you can barely see the sink in the image above)

Then there was the recipie card we had to revise it a few times, because the ingredient shows the recipie. In addition to the timer, being reflective of the urgency.

And from there we finished!!

This was a super fun piece. We only have 5 days left, and thanks for joining us on this amazing journey!
