The Big Finish
I'll be extra-brief, for novelty's sake: Chancers has funded, and it will make its way into the hands of all you lovely backers early in the fall, if everything goes according to plan. We're extremely grateful for all the interest in and support of the game, and I should have a raft of new material to send out to our layout editor tomorrow evening.
Thank you all so much for joining us on this adventure--we hope Chancers affords you diversion and delight for years to come!
Take best care,
Bill and the Jaunty Goblin Team

48 Hours
We keep odd hours here at Jaunty Goblin HQ, which has made for a delightful Monday morning. After a couple of idle days, the needle had moved a little overnight, as another heroic backer added their support to the scales and got the campaign unstuck. A steamy visit to the gym followed, and a quick glance at social media afterward told us that the campaign was juuust shy of the finish line. A subsequent visit to BackerKit told us a great deal had transpired in the two hours we were away from the keyboard.
If you glance at the campaign page today, you'll see we're a scant $100 shy of full funding; as always, we're floored and delighted by all the support for Chancers! When we reached out on the 9th, funding looked fittingly chancy, but right now we stand at $2401, with two full days to climb to $2500, a span of two or three hard-copy pledges. Morning promotional posts on social media noted that the Tracker here inside BackerKit predicts an uptick as a campaign winds down, no doubt a product of the visibility that comes with appearing in the "Ending Soon" marquee. I suspect we benefited more from the evangelism of some early supporters, but we're incredibly grateful for all the love that's been showered on the game!
It's my hope in this update to encourage a few folks who've been mulling over the game for a week or two to take the plunge today. Chancers is just a hop and a skip from moving from the realm of imagination into reality, and a special kind of delight arises from being the supporters who help a project break the tape in the strange race of crowdfunding. Pledges come in bunches, so we're hopeful that our next message will appear early tomorrow as we celebrate the fulfillment of the campaign goal.
Thank you all once again for your attention and support along the way--here's to the finish line, and to all the folks who've helped us to reach it!
Take care,
Bill and the Jaunty Goblin Crew

Seven Days!
Good afternoon!
The Chancers campaign is slated to wind down on the 15th (at noon PT, 3:00 pm ET), and all of us here at Jaunty Goblin HQ are bowled over by the support you've shown us over the past three weeks!
I thought I'd check in with 2.5 quick updates today, each in response to inquiries I've received about the game and advice I've been given by folks in the crowdfunding know.
The first update is the announcement of two new pledge levels, A Second Chance and A Third Chance, both of which feature discounts for multiple copies of the book. With A Second Chance you'll receive two hardcover copies, a digital copy, and the fillable PDF character sheet (at a savings of $10), and with A Third Chance you'll receive three hardcover copies, a digital copy, and the fillable character sheet (at a savings of $17.50). While it's possible to fiddle with the final pledge amount during the checkout process, I thought this would be a simpler, clearer way of offering affordable multi-copy options for folks who want to secure extra copies for their gaming group.
The second update (he typed, pausing to steeple his fingers) centers on the enrichment of the villain supply in Chancers. While we believe the best villains tend to be homegrown, those antagonists can take a little time to ripen on the vine. To make sure GMs and players have many potential sources of conflict to contend with right from the start, we're adding a dozen more gangs, guilds, and secret societies to the book's chapter on Notable Folks. We hope doing so will allow GMs to present players with a variety of challenges while their tailor-made villains scheme in their secret lairs. (And the .5 update, in case you were wondering, involves adding four new villain-adjacent monsters to the book's Bestiary.)
So off we go into the home stretch! Many thanks once again to one and all who've supported the campaign thus far! After a surprisingly busy holiday weekend, the whole Goblin crew is looking forward to finishing up strong.
Thank you, and take care,
Bill

A Holiday Weekend
Lots to celebrate here at Jaunty Goblin HQ! We zoomed past the midpoint goal of the campaign just when July rolled around, and our layout editor gave us a look at the wonderful work she's done formatting the first twelve chapters of the book. Better yet, a few clues from a deep dive into BackerKit's toolset suggests we're reaching far more people than we ever anticipated.
We stand at $1353 with thirteen days left in the campaign, and the majority of backers are folks who laid eyes on the project for the first time in June. If a third of the project followers from our original mailing list hop on board the Chancers campaign in the home stretch, we should have no trouble meeting our fundraising goal!
Today I'm working on the chapter on Secrets, lore that experienced Chancers can use to increase their command of magic and work around some of the limitations that tripped up the earliest wielders of chance. Interest in the game has us thinking especially about longevity lately, so we're doing our best to make sure you can have fun in the Drifting Kingdoms for years to come!
And we've saved the best news for last. Your interest in Chancers has us deepening our investment in the game; on June 28th we locked in a new commission for art from Fabled Beast Design and a commission for a new city map from Silver Compass Maps. The book is getting richer and more beautiful by the day, and we can't wait to get it into your hands.
We here at Jaunty Goblin hope you have a great weekend in store, and an especially festive long weekend if you're here in the U.S., and that we all get a reprieve from the heat as we spend time with family and friends doing the things we love.
Take care,
Bill @ Jaunty Goblin

June 25th Update
Everyone,
Today I'm following up on the promise I made on the discussion board the other day, offering a glimpse of the main Chancers mechanics on the Story page. You'll find a new section called "The Shape of the Story (June 25th Update)," where most of the information is consolidated. It closes with an outside link to my home blog and an actual sample from Chancers worked up by my layout designer. I hope the lot fills in some blanks and is easy to read on phones and tablets!
Take care, and thank you for your support!
Bill

A Juneteenth Update
As we head into the first weekend of the campaign, I wanted a) to offer folks some sense of the diversity I've tried to capture in Chancers on the main Story page, and b) to clarify fulfillment information for folks who can't access the FAQ easily on their devices out there as well. I hope it's of some help!
