Project Update: Huntsman September progress report. Closing in on the release!

Things have been ramping up as I push to complete and refine everything in time for 1.0 at the end of October. Here's what I've been up to:

Art commissions have been going great. So far, I've gotten my first picks for artists, and had great experiences working with them. Though it's a lot more time-consuming than I thought, between searching for artists, finding reference imagery, writing up explanations of requests, and giving feedback at each stage of illustration.

More playtesting, as always. Especially at higher levels now. There has been a lot of bug fixing, and refining of design by doing a full sweep of the mechanics with 1 year of experience and hindsight. Overall, many features have become more intuitive, less broken/exploitable, and more in-line with the mechanical standards of Draw Steel. Kits, Dark Metamorphosis, and the Monsters Within have all been significantly revised.

The big-ticket item: 10 Consumables and 12 Leveled Treasures! Including one armor and weapon of each type, plus an extra 3 bows. I've always enjoyed inventing magic items, and I think these have turned out great. They've already gotten a lot of positive feedback from designer friends of mine, who have been eagerly taking them to playtests. Check them out in the "Huntsman Goodie Bag" if you have access to the testing documents, along with 9 new Perks! (Only 2 are limited to Huntsman characters)

If you are a Monster Backer, or purchased the Sponsor Another Commission add-on, then take a look at all these treasures and let me know which one you'd like to see illustrated. Expect an email soon.

Oh yeah, I have to make something clear, since I haven't said anything about it until now: The 1.0 version of the Huntsman will not include the Dragon Acolyte or Spell Breaker subclasses. Just after making the last update, I made the decision to put those on the back-burner and focus on polishing the rest of the class as much as possible. I'll let you know once I have a better idea of when I expect to finish the stretch goal subclasses.
