We're fast approaching the final deadline to get your survey submitted for shipping! June 3rd is the very last day we're accepting surveys! Please make sure that you are doing so ASAP if you haven't already or submit an email to [email protected] if you're encountering some kind of funky error when trying to update!

We're still getting emails for this daily, so please do so right now if you can, as we need to get final counts in to make sure everybody gets everything! If you don't get your surveys in, we're not going to be able to get your physical rewards out to you!

Hello to our valued club members and thank you for your continued patience as we go careening through April! As you can see, our estimated release date for books has just whipped past us.

This is the biggest crowdfund that Iron Circus and White Squirrel, our indie comic distributor in the Pacific Northwest, has ever fulfilled. We are preparing to ship some 30,000+ Lackadaisy books to you all. This is immense for us. We are so grateful! But also, it's a logistical challenge!

You may have noticed that people who pre-ordered Lackadaisy Volume 1 from Amazon are already receiving their books, and we felt we ought to explain to you why this is the case. As soon as books arrived from the printer, Amazon was able to grab all of the copies they had reserved in one fell swoop and ship them in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, White Squirrel, who is fulfilling the book orders for the BackerKit crowdfund, is operating with a small staff and limited warehouse space. They've been a great and reliable distributor for Iron Circus comics in the past, and they are moving as fast as they can, but they simply can't keep pace with a behemoth corporation like Amazon. So, we ask for a little bit more of your patience on that front.

Also, we do want to assure you that you will be receiving all books you pledged for in one package -- Lackadaisy Volume 1, Lackadaisy Volume 2, and the Lackadaisy Essentials art book included. The latter two books are not slated for public release until late in 2024 and early 2025, so you will have them long before anyone is able to get their hands on them from Amazon or any other book retailers.

As a reminder, if you pledged for any physical Lackadaisy books, you also get the corresponding ebook! These are currently available for you to download in your digital rewards here on BackerKit. We've got a few other updates for you as well while you are here: firstly the Zib Plush!! (5/5 stealth edit: Sylphy has fixed the images, dunno why those were broken. Weird! Thank you for commenting!)

This is just a prototype for now, but we thought he was looking dapper enough (smoking habits aside) to show you how he's shaping up.

We've also been busy prototyping the Lackadaisy Card Game!

We still have some minor things to iron out here, like what material will be best to print the cards on (right now, we're testing vinyl), but it's getting close!

A second small update -- but there was some interest shown here in the Chevron and 3 of Clubs pins that, while not part this Backerkit, were occasionally asked for updates for in comments here!

These are now available for a limited time on the Iron Circus website! I really do not know if we're going to make these again after this so if you wanted one, this is the time. These are again, not pins featured from this Backerkit, but if you are a pin collector like me, you'll want these for your corkboard!

On to updates!:

The majority of the plushies for backers have been sent out at this time and it is wonderful seeing you all pose and post and make little outfits for them! Like seriously, that's rad!

We're excited to see you all receiving them and setting them up for display (me, specifically me) so please continue to do this! Even though the rewards have started to go out we do want to remind all our club members to fill out their survey as well as eventually we will need to take that down and it will be a shame if you miss out. Book shipments are finally beginning their way in to our distributor in what we've been told are 3 incredibly large shipments!

Part 1 of this shipment containing Volume 1 and Essentials has already arrived to Ingram (the distributor) and Part 2 which has Volume 2 and more copies of Essentials is expected to be here 3/25, and then shipment Part 3 on 4/1 if there are no delays with the courier time. Once Ingram has all of the incoming shipments, we will then send the books to White Squirrel, who is our crowdfund fulfillment. These will then be shipped out to you. And an update here will happen when that shipment begins.

These books will be shipped independently of the pins and the card games in their own packages. However you may also still end up seeing the standalone Volume 1 in stores before the backer rewards are issued out by our fulfillment processor. If that ends up happening, we do apologize for this delay in receipt on your end. Backers will receive their books ahead of the Volume 2 and Essentials store release dates however.

The Chevron pins are finally in! It's great to be able to share a couple photos with you all now that they look how they should!

After the issue with the previous pin manufacturer where the casting was not as originally planned, we've arranged to work with a completely different manufacturer and have started talks with them to prevent another extended issue with the pin rewards. Talks with a new manufacturer are already underway and we thank you for your extended patience with this particular odyssey. Something will eventually happen with the original incorrect pins but we will get to that once the backer pins are issues out to you all.

Edit 3/28: As for the pins in the above picture, a large majority of those are in the process of reaching backers at this time! You should start to see yours arrive over the next 7-10 business days.

The card game mentioned is within the works now! We are speaking with a couple of different printers for sourcing options on our materials and once we have an idea of a timeframe a further update on this should become available. We're looking forward to having a few visuals to show you in the upcoming future!

Also upcoming (it's a big update!) is an additional mini-episode as well! One where Mordecai gets interrogated by a knee-high Ivy in a small peek into Lackadaisy's past. While we're excited to show you more in the future, we have a few club patron backer exclusives of what's coming up for you all to see below:

Heya, folks! Hope everybody had a good holiday season. Naturally, things ran a bit slowly during that period, so we really appreciate your patience!

Anyway, the physical books of Volume 1 and Volume 2 are being printed at last, and we’ve just received our advance copies. We think they look pretty amazing!

So right now we’re waiting for the full runs to be finished, shipped to the U.S., and delivered to our fulfillment company. After that, we can finally start shipping books out to everybody!

In other news, the Ivy plushes will be shipping out soon, so keep an eye out!

Also, there’s a lot of work going on with the Lackadaisy card game! Legal requirements are being sorted out, materials are being sourced, and playtests of the revised rules are being planned.

Finally, the pin sets are in production!

These two were our $300,000 stretch goal, and we hit that mark early in the campaign. Juniper's been hard at work on the designs ever since, and now, they're ready for primetime! Tracy's so pleased with how they turned out, and we hope you are, too.

You should have just received an email from BackerKit, informing you that you have 48 hours to make sure your shipping address is up-to-date! That's just two days, so you have until 2:30 PM Central, Thursday, November 9th!

Addresses are locking now for people with completed surveys, because shipping of some backer rewards will begin before the end of November. This will primarily be for plushes and keychains.

If your shipping address is still what it was when you originally completed your survey, and it won't change anytime soon, you don't have to do anything.

If your shipping address IS going to change soon, or HAS changed since you completed your survey, please click the link in the BackerKit email and update your address!

And if you have yet to complete your survey, but are ready to do so now, you can fill it out here! You order and address will be locked next Monday.

Like the update title says, today, I'll be locking the first round of fulfillment surveys today at 5:00 PM, Central. For folks new to BackerKit, here's what that means!

No, you can complete your fulfillment survey at any time. There's no rush. Only completed fulfillment surveys will be locked. If you've yet to start or complete yours, your survey will still be open. It will stay open until you complete it!

Hey again, folks! Matt Sheridan here again, this time with the info you need concerning BackerKit digital rewards.

Some folks have been asking why they have yet to receive their digital rewards. That's because we have yet to lock your orders and charge your card! Rewards will not go out until we do so.

If you’ve responded to your backer survey, we’ll lock your order next Monday (November 6th, 2023). Once your order is locked, your credit card will be charged for your shipping costs and for any add-ons you selected after the campaign. That’s when your digital rewards will be unlocked, and you’ll be able to download them through the Digital Downloads page on BackerKit.

Only completed surveys will be locked. If you haven't completed your survey yet, it will remain unlocked! Not to worry; you cannot be locked out of a incomplete survey.

After November 6th, we will begin locking completed surveys on a weekly basis.

Hello there, folks! Matt Sheridan, here. I'm in charge of Iron Circus' Shipping and Receiving, local warehouse oversight, and crowdfund fulfillment, with our partners at White Squirrel, Pirate Ship, and Juniper. Lackadaisy is the thirty-eighth crowdfund fulfillment I've administered, and the sixteenth I've set up fulfillment for via Backerkit. With that in mind: Let's talk SHIPPING. More specifically:

There’s a lot going on here, so this will be a bit long. Sorry!

So! We’ve got three different categories of physical rewards in this campaign: books, drop-shippable items, and everything else.

Books will be shipped via USPS Media Mail within the U.S., and via the cheapest available method outside the U.S. (which is typically Pirate Ship for light parcels and USPS Priority International for everything else). All books, whether from backer levels or add-ons, are combined together and charged as a single, books-only shipment.

All four plushes and the commemorative keychain will be drop-shipped by the manufacturer. That would be Juniper. This allows us to ship the plushes for $9 each and the keychains for $6 everywhere in the world. They’re shipped and charged individually, since it’s the manufacturer and not our fulfillment company sending them. That means if you ordered multiple plushes/keychains, they'll be shipped individually, not bundled together.

Finally, there’s the non-book, non-dropshipped category. This includes the card games and the pin sets. These can’t be sent via USPS Media Mail, so they’ll be shipped in the U.S. through USPS Ground Advantage (the next cheapest option) and outside the U.S. they use Pirate Ship or USPS Priority International. Shipments for these items are combined together, but not with books—since that would make Media Mail rates impossible and the cheaper Pirate Ship rates less likely to be used, and since the pins are likely to need different kinds of packaging from books anyway.

Shipments of non-dropshipped items—that is, the books, card games, and pins—have a small additional fee to cover packaging and labor. For the plushes and keychains, that’s already included in the flat fees.

Every decision we’ve made in setting up our shipping policies was to give the largest portion of our backers the cheapest possible rates within the limitations of the services available to us and the tools that BackerKit has to calculate shipping costs. We ran our fee spreadsheets by our fulfillment company to make sure our math was correct, and BackerKit worked with us extensively to help us make this elaborate multi-category system work.

We can’t offer Amazon-level shipping, because Amazon is already using those resources. Also: we are TINY, and giants like Amazon offer an unbeatable economy of scale. Small companies like Iron Circus are limited to the same consumer shipping services that regular folks use, and those have been getting steadily more expensive as a handful of massive companies have taken up more and more of the world’s shipping infrastructure. A lot of folks in our weight class have stopped offering international shipping for their crowdfunds at all! But we didn't want to do that; Lackadaisy has fans all over the world.

And finally: We aren't offering the blu-rays during fulfillment because... the show isn't done yet. We simply don't have the information we'd need to source an accurate quote. The blu-rays will be offered in the future, when the first season is complete, as pre-order.

Folks, we recognize that the shipping costs involved with this crowdfund are expensive, but they are literally the best we can do. We presented the most accurate estimates we could for shipping rates at the start of the campaign, and in some cases we’ve managed to deliver better rates than those through drop-shipping and Pirate Ship. If you find that these shipping costs are unacceptable, you are able to cancel your pledge in th fulfillment interface and receive a full refund. No hard feelings, we promise!

Hey cool cats, Amanda L. here from Iron Circus Comics with another update, specifically about the status of the BackerKit surveys.

The surveys and fulfillment details are being looked over for approval today (10/12/2023), and should go live early next week. Once surveys are ready and sent out, you will be able to finalize your address, pay for shipping, and grab any add-ons (card game, pins, plushes, etc) that are available.

Surveys will go out to your BackerKit accounts and emails, but we will also post an update here to make sure you don’t miss them.
