Thank you to our 1650+ backers who are supporting Modi Case into the final week! The project ends in SEVEN (7) days, and we are getting ready to drop the files and support materials to all paid backers on June 23rd, 2026!
Instructions in progress
We are in the process of working on the instructions for Modi Case as well as cleaning up the instructions for Modi Boxi as well. One thing we heard from our last campaign is that we did not have clear enough instructions for getting started. We will be changing that this time around with clear illustrations of builds and files that can get you rolling on your first Modi Case build.
DRAFT EXAMPLE - SUBJECT TO CHANGE
In addition, there will be step-by-step assembly instructions as well for common pieces and assemblies. We will then link to other parts of the instructions on what to add next!
DRAFT EXAMPLE - SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Our goal is to combine the visual instructions with a few assembly videos to ensure you have what you need to get started, be productive, learn the system, and build amazing storage for your needs!
DRAFT EXAMPLE - SUBJECT TO CHANGE
We are also shipping build plates!
This time around, we are also going to provide .3MF files so you can open them up in your slicer and have all the builds READY TO GO! You can just start printing each plate in order.
Bookmark the instructions link
The instructions for Modi Case and Modi Boxi will always be available at:
If you save that link, we will continue to expand it with general system information, additional builds, resources, and any updates. This is where you will go to get Modi Case instructions when they are available. The 3MF files will be in the .zips with the STLs.
We'll have a few more announcements this week as we bring this thing in for a landing! Thank you all for your awesome support!
We are excited to cross the 7th milestone of the project and unlock LARGE EXTRA ADVANCED BUILDS!
What is an advanced build?
You are probably asking yourself, "Self, what is a large extra advanced build?"
Each case is made up of four composite pieces. So this will allow you to combine large and medium together. You can mix and match to come up with all sorts of awesome builds. It gives you more flexibility in the case height and tray organization.
This is done by using a Large Case composite bottom and adding Medium Tops, or the opposite: Using Medium Case composite bottoms and adding Large Tops.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so check it out here!
New Poll: How Much Filament Do You Use?
Just curious, what is the filament usage level out there? Fill out this latest poll to give us a sense of how big you go.
More milestones incoming!
What's up next? Fold down handles so you can store your Modi Case in more places. And we possibly have more goals up our sleeves. Stay tuned for more!
We are super excited to keep the campaign running for the next couple of weeks and bring more people into the Modi Builder ecosystem!
We've received awesome feedback on the Modi Tray Maker, and we have more things like that in the works!
We've had a number of questions about how easy it will be to assemble Modi Case. Jeff put together this overview video to walk you through assembling the composite Case and the important rack system that will hold all the trays.
Give the video a watch over on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmN_s7pq2tg
It's been a great two weeks here at Modi Boxi HQ as the support, questions, and stretch goals have poured in! We completed our $125,000 flex goal last week, so we are excited to release our Tray Maker Software!
What is it?
We get constant questions about whether certain mini bases or certain paint bottles are supported with the trays. Now, with Tray Maker, you can create any tray measurement you want for Modi Boxi or Modi Case, and simply export and print the STL file.
Try it now!
We are launching Tray Maker at https://traymaker.modiboxi.com now for anyone to design and print. Heck, you can even start printing trays for your Modi Case before the files even come out! The only requirement is that you need to be a member of our Discord server to use the software. First, join the Discord server at https://discord.gg/modiboxi, then sign in to Tray Maker and start making trays!
There is a Discord channel (#traymaker-chat) to ask any questions about the program!
We look forward to seeing you over there!
Cheers to three more weeks of the Modi Case campaign! If you haven't backed yet, there is still time to get in at a 30% discount off retail. More fun things are coming soon!
So much has happened, it's hard to believe it's only been one week into the Modi Case campaign! Thank you to all the backers who have shown up, and for your great feedback and questions! We have a few existing announcements as we move into the second week!
New Stretch Goals!
Since we ripped through all of the stretch goals, we are adding some more! And one of these is going to be pretty damn awesome:
Stretch Goal #06 — $125,000 — Tray Marker Software
Tray Maker
Ok, so this is super cool! We've received LOTS of questions like "Does Modi Case support this brand of paint" or "Does Modi Case support this size of mini base," and now the answer to that will always be YES! We are going to build and roll out tray maker software that will allow you to print trays for Modi Case AND Modi Boxi in whatever size and arrangement you want!
Stretch Goal #07 — $150,000 — Extra Advanced Builds
Large Extra Advanced
For advanced Builders who want extreme flexibility,we’re expanding the options for Medium and Large Modi Case designs. You will be able to build shorter Large cases and taller medium cases. This is accomplished by introducing a medium-height top option for Large builds, and a Large-height top option for Medium builds.
You will also be able to put a Medium case tray column inside a large build. We know all of this sounds crazy, but trust us, it will make sense when you see it!
One of the things this allows you to do is build a Large case that fits in a 13x13 Kallax shelf.
Stretch Goal #08 — $200,000 — Fold Down Handle
Fold Down Handle
We’re adding fold-down handles for both 2x Medium and 2x Large Modi Cases. Why does this matter? Because it will allow any Medium-height Boxi Case to fit inside a standard 13" cube bookshelf opening. And let’s be honest… we all love our cube bookshelves. Thank you again for all the support — let’s keep climbing!
Updated Print times and Filament needs
Last week, we posted filament amounts for the Modi Case prints. We've updated that and added some new information about print times. These are now in the story and on the FAQ page.

How You Can Help Push Modi Case Further
We are excited to be heading into the second week! A lot of you have already backed the project (seriously, thank you), but there are still some HUGE ways you can help unlock these stretch goals. Even small actions make a difference:
Post your favorite Modi Boxi build photos online! Send them to us! We will promote them on socials!
Share the campaign in your tabletop, hobby, maker, or organizer groups and tell people why you backed the project.
Add to your pledge if there’s something else you want!
Comment and like all these updates to help boost visibility!
Leave comments on the BackerKit page about your experience with us (we hope it’s positive 🙂?)
Talk about Modi Case on Discord servers, Reddit, Facebook groups, or hobby forums!
Word of mouth has always been the biggest reason Modi projects grow. This community has already helped turn a small idea into something much bigger than we expected. Every share, comment, and recommendation genuinely helps. Let’s see how far we can push this thing together!
