Aug 2026: Clarification; UC PF2e will be printed, progress report
Hello everyone. I appreciate your patience at this time and ask for your pardon in the 2nd email, but I felt it was important to clarify now that I have a cooler head. UC's PF2e version will be printed. The 5e version is being printed.
We rushed to print it alongside the 5e version early, but we find now that this will be difficult. We'll push it back to being printed alongside BMG once it's ready to print as initially planned. It's a question of making up for the $5K jump, but given time and maneuvering, I feel that's possible.
The plan right now is for us to continue to share with a larger audience the wonderful books we've created. That was already the plan going forward till we got to printing BMG, it's just that we have to act a little more seriously. One way or another, we'll have the book printed and simply having a bit of extra time to do that would alone be of tremendous help.
We'll continue to keep you guys posted on where things are regarding that. For now, saving UC PF2e to be printed alongside BMG alone is tremendously helpful.
Progress on BMG continues apace.
We got the last bit of edits back from the editor. With one final personal review of the text, the last draft will be sent out to layout. No issues with BMG, 5e or PF2e. Given a 2-3 months, we should be able to wrap up BMG with a digital version sent out for community review first. Which will of course allow us to fix any issues we missed.
News of not being able to combine costs for the 5e and PF2e versions came as a shock given miscommunications with our printers. But it's not an insurmountable situation and I apologize for worrying everyone.
I'd like to also share progress with our Tieflings/Nephilims of the Four Perils supplement: our design for the Bunrei Warlock, the divided, enshrined spirit patron. Compared to our Corruption Warlock/Summoner, the bunrei is more focused on protection vs offense. The god you house within you gains more power to protect the more you nurture its growth. Writing is also nearing completion, about 75%,
Bunrei Warlock by Ishton
Appreciate everyone's patience and encouragement over the past few hours. Crowdfunding can be stressful as we want to do right by everyone who allowed our work to be possible. Thinking clearly, there are always paths forward and I'm still very eager to meet people's expectations and get all of our books printed.
Once again, thank you all so much, and we'll be back with better, more exciting news.
Serious news: unable to combine costs for 5e/PF2e print versions
Just like in the title.
I've tried putting in the order to print the 5e and PF2e versions of Undying Corruption. Despite what I was led to believe at first by my printers, matching page counts alone aren't sufficient. The content of the books must also generally be the same for them to count them as a single job. Because of that, projected costs for printing is... quite a lot more than we expected.
Truth be told, we didn't sell enough of the PF2e versions to be able to print them at a reasonable rate. For UC specifically, we didn't sell enough of the 5e version either to really see a profit. As things are, I might end up barely breaking even, or seeing a small loss if I go ahead and print the 5e version of Undying Corruption.
Thinking on it, I think... one of the only ways I can move forward with this is to launch a crowdfunding campaign for a UC reprint and hope that does well. I'll put everything into delivering on what I promised, but anything that could help would be appreciated at this time.
I really wish I had better news to share, but I'm honestly terrified for the future of this group. I'm sorry and thank you for your patience.
July 2026 Update: Tiefling/Nephilim Guide Preorders!
STL progress by WyrmWorks
Hello again, all! Here's to another month of progress. Over June, both the layout artist and I have been bogged down by a number of big family issues that required immediate attention. Our pacing has been impacted, I will admit. Regardless! We're proud to announce that we've accomplished the following:
Legacy of the Wailing Souls one-shot has been delivered!
Orders for UC 5e reprint and PF2e print have been put in. They'll be shipped off to our fulfillment partners to be sent out once we've got all physical merchandise on hand.
Completed more high tier commissions.
UC 5e Arc 4 is fully translated into Korean! Arcs 5 and 6 remaining.
Over July, you can expect:
More progress with Black Market Guide (the main book)
NPC Guide update
STL update
Soundtrack update
Our big news for this month though is!
New Tiefling/Nephilim Supplement
Tieflings of the Four Perils (5e) or Nephilims of the Four Perils (PF2e) is a new digital expansion focusing on the infamous consortium of archfiends terrorizing the Iseung region. It'll feature four major subraces/lineages, three new subclasses, new feats, and new lore related to the four perils and their relationship to the Moksaka faith.
We'll be able to fully bring this to being with 100 preorders. At 200 preorders, we can work on the aasimars connected to the Four Benevolent Beasts! Currently available in our preorder store
Projected release date: September 2026 at earliest
The four lineages come to be through the influence of the Four Perils had on planes they've scarred indelibly, not necessarily through bloodlines. While they've inherited the marks of the four perils that each fiend represents (gluttony, wroth, vainglory, and pandemonium) along with their elements (metal, fire, wood, and earth respectively) they needn't take completely after them.
The following marks grant their possesses a boon, or curse if you look at it another way:
Hundun (Pandemonium): Born with but a microscopic fragment of a world egg inside of you, you represent infinite possibilities without actualization. You can use the fragment to create a personal demiplane that resembles your internal world.
Qiongqi (Wroth): Through ultraviolence, you achieve your personal evolution, tapping into the chimera rakshasa's potential for explosive mutation to lash back at your foes.
Taotie (Metal): You're wracked by insatiable hunger all throughout your life, being born with a literal void in your gut. Concentrate that hunger and you can tear apart and consume any matter.
Taowu (Wood): You receive brief visions of futures others would ruin their lives for. By imparting them, you can drive even the noblest of men to slay a life-long comrade.
We've also got three subclasses we're pleased to unveil as part of this: Barbarian (Path of Malice), Cleric (Key Domain), Warlock (Bunrei Patron).
Barbarians who came into contact with the collective resentment and agonies of the world walk the path of malice. Their rage is on behalf of the maligned and the neglected.
Clerics that follow the Key Domain within their god's portfolio are usually tasked with a divine mission to unlock that which has been sealed away. This could be a relic that destiny has need of, or it could be the god themselves desiring escape. Either way, they've been imparted with a key that unlocks all doorways even across dimensions.
A Bunrei is a divided spirit created as an offshoot of a higher divinity. The Warlock that creates a pact with one becomes its high priest tasked with becoming or protecting the spirit's new shrine, ensuring its maturation into a new deity. In a way, it's the more benevolent version of our Corruption Warlock in BMG. Personal Reflections
As I said, I'm very interested in growing Nine Heavens Press into being able to do smaller projects in between big ones like UC and BMG. We've entered the final half of 2026, so once again, I'd be remiss if I didn't thank everyone for their continued support up till this point!
People are very interested in seeing more Tieflings/Nephilims and lore concerning the Moon, so those are absolutely at the forefront of my mind right now (just behind finishing BMG as it is, of course).
If you have any questions or comments, please reply here or contact us at [email protected]. We'd also be delighted to have you in our growing Discord server!
Expect new news incoming next month as well regarding both Four Perils and also the newly revamped Patreon!
June 2026: STLs, Undying Corruption PF2e ver. out!
Hello all! Belated happy beginning of Pride Month!
UC PF2e ver.
Samdugumi mini by WyrmWorks
I'm very excited to report that we've sent to everyone our current progress with the STL's and Undying Corruption's PF2e version! It's been a while coming, but we thank you all for your patience and your support in making this possible.
From here on, we'll spend about 2 weeks waiting for people's feedback on the PF2e versions. If people catch anything noteworthy, we'll edit it before we send everything out to print this month. With the reprint of UC 5e of course.
Now that that's out of the way, we can resume work on completing Black Market Guide! We'll begin progress with the book's layout this month and make good progress through the start of Fall, likely. We're also a little less occupied, so we can really start work on the commissions the higher tier backers have been patiently waiting for.
July's update will likely include the one-shot adventure. Expect us to chip away at fulfilling all of our promises. In addition to some new stuff! We're eager to put out stuff that didn't have room in the book as standalone releases very shortly. Here are some previews to that effect:

May 2026: PF2e Playtest Doc finally out; Nightfell Collab out
Hello, everyone!
Happy to announce that our PF2e Playtest doc is now available for digital download. Thank you so much for your patience and we look forward to hearing and responding to feedback from within our community. Our collaboration subclass for Grim Moon Studio's homebrew Lunar Cultist class is also available for download in the backer only content area at the bottom of the page.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy what we've put out!
Now, for your monthly backer review:
Minis
Huodou mini back by Wyrmworks
Huodou mini 2 by Wyrmworks
Huodou mini by Wyrmworks
Wyrmworks has resumed work on the minis and here are samples of the huodou, per popular vote for 3d sculpted ancestries! We'll have more variants of her out with different weapons to suit play for different classes as well. Work is continuing apace with the Spiritborn and we're about to get started on the Kankandara, the most popular pick among monsters. Please look forward to more!
Books
We've just finished putting the PF2e version of Undying Corruption to layout! We're going to make some adjustments and send them out for digital download as soon as possible for community feedback. Afterwards, we will put both the 5e and PF2e versions out to print and get them to our distributors' warehouses!
Once again, a large order for 5e books has necessitated we focus on finishing the Undying Corruption side of fulfillment. We're fine-tuning Black Market Guide to Immortality with edits underway for both 5e and PF2e versions. I believe we're still on track to finishing and beginning work on layout around June to July.
Given that, I think after we conclude the PF2e version of UC, we'll knock out the one-shot that was unlocked as a stretch goal and then continue with BMG. I think the Artbook and NPC Guide will go very quickly once we finish the big books, which we place at a higher priority at the moment.
Tsuchigumo by DettanArts
We're also very happy to share with you a preview of our Tsuchigumo! The gift of the sun is withdrawn from the arrogant who believe themselves greater than the gods. And so, they become earth spiders, beasts doomed to crawl on their bellies, consigned to their subterranean fiefdoms under cover of darkness. Though they're one of Kyougen's more frightful creatures, their weakness to sunlight keeps them in check.
Points for anyone who can guess which Sengoku warlord we based the design on lol
Soundtrack
I've been sent soundtrack samples by Dale and they're coming along nicely! He's working on them in between his obligations for different video game projects, so more updates to come there.
Side-Projects
Kamaitachi WIP by ZONE_MAN
We've been working on a number of things on the side including new ancestries to put out for sale. Here's a very rough sketch that I've been sent of our playable kamaitachi we're excited to put out. Though separate from BMG, we're keeping within the East Asian focused worldbuilding underneath the NHP umbrella, so do look forward to more from us!
If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to offer suggestions or present issues that you find in the doc, please comment here or contact us at [email protected]. Consider also joining our growing Discord community! Click the link below:
Congratulations on making it through the first quarter of the year! Here's your monthly Nine Heavens Press update on how the Black Market Guide campaign is going:
Cheonma by ZONE_MAN
We've been going back into Undying Corruption to design monsters that for whatever reason we didn't illustrate. I'm particularly proud of the Cheonma for setting it apart from a pegasus. Initially, I thought there was little differentiating a cheonma from a pegasus, but I think we could play around with how fast it is. ZONE and I came up with the brilliant move then to make its true form a ball of light with multiple wings shaped like a horse. Very realistic angel.
BMG PF2e playtest: Due to health and personal life reasons, we'll need a little more time to finish this up. I expect we can see the document released sometime this month. Apologies and we really appreciate your patience.
UC 5e and PF2e: We received a big order for more UC 5e books, so we'll print these earlier than expected. While it's more cost-effective for shipping to have all books delivered to our various distributors at once, necessity demands expediency. On the plus side, we're prioritizing finishing the layout for UC PF2e ASAP. Arc 4 has been completed and we will likely finish the layout in time for the digital release and community proofreading sometime May 2026.
Black Market Guide 5e/PF2e: Once the PF2e version of UC has been finished, we'll devote our fullest effort to completing the layout for BMG. As initially projected, we should either have a digital copy out by Q3-ish of this year. After getting some community feedback, they'll be set for print.
Nightfell collab:Edits have been finished and sent over to the Nightfell team. Everyone should be able to see the subclass we worked on soon!
One-Shot: Editing and illustration for the map have been completed. Once we get the chance, we'll commit the adventure to proper digital layout to send them out.
Commissions/3D Minis: We're knocking these out with a delay from obligations having concluded. Folks for whom we have updates for have been contacted.
Global logistics: Speaking of printing and distributing, I imagine a number of people are curious about how recent global events might affect shipping for the books. I've talked with my printers and as things stand, shipping to our American distributors is as of yet unaffected.
Shipping to our UK hub, however, will require an additional 3 months from the time we put in the order. I imagine that's not something most people would like to hear, but considering how chaotic the situation is, we'll keep you all updated if there are any changes. Once we get closer to the actual distribution date, the actual costs behind shipping and customs associated with them will materialize. I figure then, we can discuss more tangible options.
That's it for this month. As said, we're adapting to slight changes in plans, but everything's moving smoothly for the book itself.
If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to offer suggestions or present issues that you find in the doc, please comment here or contact us at [email protected]. Consider also joining our growing Discord community! Click the link below:
