We have two pieces of exciting news!

Last year, we worked with some of our amazing fans to use the artwork they created for their play through of our solo horror journaling game, Whispers in the Walls. This week, we launched the remake that uses the art, along with an extensive layout update and built in player journal!

This one looks quite a bit different from Badger + Coyote!

Substratum Protocol is our entry into the Deep Delving Mystery genre like Subnautica and In Other Waters.

In classic Pandion-style, this is a solo+ game about scientists, not soldiers, delving into the depths of the earth, to learn all they can about the interdimensional portal tearing apart our world, and ultimately putting a stop to it. It can be played as a solo, duet, or multiplayer game.

We are excited to announce that all rewards and preorders have now been fulfilled! The final packages were dropped off to the postal service yesterday, and you should have received a shipping notification. If you haven't, please reach out!

With the completion of the campaign, all sales of Badger + Coyote have now been moved to our store.

At this time, we consider the campaign fulfilled and complete, but that doesn't mean we're done making games!

Looking forward to 2024, we have 2 big games releases planned: Substratum Protocol is a scifi and cosmic horror solo+ mystery game full of twists and turns to explore coming to Backerkit in Spring 2024. This uses our wonderfully unique Hints and Hijinx mystery system, where the answer to the mysteries are not predetermined in the adventure but ultimately discovered by the players. We have at least one other Hints and Hijinx game planned for 2024 that centers around Highland Cows, too!

Later in 2024, we will be releasing a completely redesigned Banda's Grove: The Quantum Convergence of Campgrounds - our cozy scifi TTRPG that mixes campgrounds from alien worlds from across the universe in a strange and mysterious quantum realm. We're working on a detailed setting and campaign guide for it as well.

Banda's Grove will be our first showing of a new major system! I believe the Grove System will be the most robust diceless, token-based TTRPG game to date that includes a unique resolution mechanic, magic, combat, city building, character leveling, and more. It's a huge experiment for us that we're both nervous and excited about.

The Grove System has 2 additional games in early development as well to test how well it can build games in other genres: Penumbra, a modern eldritch folk horror game inspired by The Secret World, and Trawlers: a cold northern sea adventuring game inspired by Dredge. However, we do not currently have a release date for them.

If you like two player games (and you're on this list, so I hope you do!) then we have a treat for you! One of our favorite two player games is Tether by Adam Bafoni, and we have worked with Adam to create a dedicated journal for this horror letter writing game.

The Tether Journal is a player aid to collect the opening world building, your card draws, and, most importantly, all your journal entries in one place. At the end, you'll have a fantastic artifact of your play through of Tether, capturing the terrifying journey you and a friend went on.

Hello, all!

Some very exciting news today: The first 40 shipments are going out today! We will be packing your games up and shipping them out every day until it is done. My goal is to have everything shipped out by December 15th at the latest.

We also made a last-minute change to the starter kits - their outer bags have been upgraded from a lightweight linen to a sturdy canvas! These not only look and feel better, but will stand up much longer to being thrown in your backpack with all your other stuff.

We will keep the Backerkit Preorder store open until we ship out the final backer rewards. So you still have time to preorder!  After all backers and preorders are fulfilled, we will move to general availability and fulfillment on our store, and retailers.

As we fulfill Badger + Coyote, we wanted to let you know about our next project: Substratum Protocol!

A little different from the pastoral duet game, Substratum Protocol is our unique take on deep exploration mysteries, inspired by Subnautica and In Other Waters.

Like those games, Substratum Protocol focuses on the efforts of daring scientists, not soldiers. Anyone who likes science fiction or cosmic horror mysteries will absolutely love this game as it puts in the role of the scientists standing toe to toe with knowledge beyond your comprehension.

The landing page is live, and we're planning to launch the campaign in Spring 2024!

The things we're most excited about with Substratum Protocol is its mystery game system that includes a player-driven end game trigger for grand finales, and its stress mechanics that give players new powers at a cost as they succumb to the influences of an interdimensional portal at the center of the earth.

We have partnered up with Galen Pejeau for art, who is making wonderful illustrations of the scientist's exosuit, a map to the center of the earth, and creature field sketches to for players to encounter.

Hello everyone! 

We have shipping confirmation for the books and character sheets, with some deliveries arriving today! All told, we are expected to get over 200 pounds of books delivered at the end of November. 

We also have all of our supplies for the starter kits and are just waiting on the character sheets and booklets to arrive. We have over 1600 dice, 800 pencils, and 400 wooden mushroom tokens waiting to be assembled into your starter kits!

Finally, the Badger + Coyote art prints are being printed! We got to see them, and Salt and Paper Press has done a fantastic job with them. The heavy cotton paper and deep impression of the print is just fantastic. We're getting 350 made, and if you backed the campaign at a physical reward tier, you will get one of these prints included.

Hello Backers!

We wanted to let you know that the Backerkit surveys are closing this Wednesday, November 15th, so if you haven't already, please ensure you get those filled out, so we can get you your games!

After surveys close, we will submit the final books and character sheet orders. Once everything arrives (roughly 15–30 days after we submit the order), and we're ready to ship, we'll lock address changes on your survey, and then ship your rewards to you!

This week, the art prints hit the press at Salt and Paper Press! We can't wait to share how they look with you!

We also have all the starter kit accessory items ordered, and will be assembling them as they arrive. All told, we ordered 1,548 dice for the kits, certainly the largest quantity of dice we've ever ordered at once!

Finally, the print-ready PDFs are uploaded to our printers, and proofs have been verified. At this point, we are just waiting to lock the surveys before submitting the orders.

Wow.

The Badger + Coyote campaign is over, and it was a huge success thanks to each and every one of you! We are so grateful for the love and support for our little duet game! At the end, 348 backers raised $14,182, bringing us to 567% of our funding goal! Thank you so much.
 

First, we're going to take a short break to celebrate and let the adrenaline subside. I'm writing this with a latte in hand while feeling the cool breeze of fall through the window to start because wow, what a ride this campaign has been!

Backerkit will charge for pledges soon, and we'll work with individuals if there are any issues.

We have the Pledge Manager almost set up and ready. All that's left is making sure we haven't forgotten anything before getting the surveys out to you to collect addresses for physical rewards, and distribute the digital versions.

Then, we are doing a final proofread and export of the main book, travel-sized booklet, and character sheets. Once that is done, we can submit everything to the printers, and order all the materials for the starter kits! We're expecting printing to take roughly 25-35 days, but that is ultimately up to the will of the printers. 

As we go along, we'll update you with photos and progress, especially as we start to assemble starter kits, get books in stock, and see the first art prints from Salt and Paper Press!

Right now, we are hosting a Game Jam to help you create your very own duet game using the core rules of Badger + Coyote! We've released a free creator's guide and template for you to use, including copy and paste rules.

Whether you've never made a game or adventure before, or have several published titles, come join us and the community to make your own! The game jam's page includes links and resources to everything you need, including a place to ask questions and join our discord community to share your ideas, and work in progress to get feedback.

As many of you know, we have a lot more games than just Badger + Coyote - from horror filled games you play around a campfire, to solo journaling games of silly small-town hijinks - and we have many exciting new projects lined up too.

We also love helping others create their own games. Yes, you!
