Project Update: ZOETROPE's Final 6 Hours

Hello Avernus Denizens!

I made a post back in October for What We Possess, the ghostly story telling game, but today I wanted to invite you to the final 6 hours of ZOETROPE: Death Didn't Take.

ZOETROPE and What We Possess have shared space in their projects, being available in each, but ZOETROPE's project is uniquely featuring a large $20 expansion box for the core game that features, now that we've unlocked the final stretch goal to increase its size, over 250+ new cards. It's a wild box bringing magic, super future, and now super ancient, technologies into the game, and increasing the card count of the main game by a huge amount, nearly doubling the main game!

I can only do these projects because of your support. It really does make all this possible, so if you are interested, please come take a look before the project ends.

There are also great enamel pin sets for people who might be more interested in auxiliary things than a new game. Something for everyone! : )

(If you already pledged on the WHAT WE POSSESS project, go ahead and pledge just for the ZOETROPE expansion, I'm combining orders between those two projects.)

If we make it to the final goal of $25,000, we'll unlock an additional set of cards designed exclusively by our project's artist, Rickie Lee Benedetto. Rickie Lee breathed life into this game, and I believe that this would be a fantastic ending for the project. So please help us reach that final goal!

See you at the Agency, Time Agent!

Project Update: What We Possess

New from the Publishing Goblin, What We Possess is the latest Kickstarter campaign from the mind behind the Alleyman's Tarot, the Publishing Goblin's Oracle Dice, and New Avernus:
What We Possess

What We Possess

In this spooky ghost-story telling game, 2-7 players gather in the dark to tell a story together of the Living and the Dead. Play as a ghost haunting the space, gathering clues about a core mystery as you push the living to action, or possess them to take control entirely.
The game is run on cards and game pieces, and players have complete control to suggest and run scenes in the space. Perfect for nights when your normal long running campaign games are short a player, or for a party space with friends who are ready to tell strange tales. The rules are simple, more story-telling and improv than game mechanics, making it perfect for people of any age, and people who don't normally play games.

Help pledge in the first 24 hours to give the campaign the greatest chance of success, and we can work towards the stretch goals that unlock additional small story packs of cards, including a Five Nights at Freddy's themed expansion, spooky stories in space themed expansion, and a summer camp slaughterhouse themed expansion.

And in doing so, help secure the future of Publishing Goblin Games, allowing me to make divination projects and game projects each year, and fulfill my creation dreams.

Additionally, the 2nd edition of ZOETROPE, the card-run TTRPG about playing the rent-a-cops of time travel, is available on the project! So if ghosts are sounding a bit too spooky for you this Halloween season, lock and load to patrol time instead. Or grab both for just $40!

You can find What We Possess, live now, over on Kickstarter!

Project Update: The Final Cutoff | New Games from Publishing Goblin

Hello my dears,

It's been some time. We shipped everything a while back now this year, and I have the remaining 70 copies of the game in my storage unit here in Denver. If you reach out this week to my email ([email protected]), I'm happy to help you with anything that went missing or didn't arrive. Please don't just reply here on the update, I don't receive notifications of the comments, so they aren't the best place to say hi or connect. Definitely email me.

I would love to see people share their gameplay experiences with the game so far! How have your cities been? What factions do you love to play? Any structures that are your go-to for points? Resource gathering?

Or the oracle-- How has the oracle served you for single player mode? Or for reading as an oracle itself? Curious how many people added the oracle cards to their Alleyman's decks.

Monday next week is the final cutoff. If I don't hear from people by then about a missing item or the like, I'll assume we're all good.

In the meantime, I launched Take Me to the Dark on the 3rd over on Kickstarter. It's a 3-game project. New Avernus was my return to game design and publishing, and it was seriously great to see you all come here to support this project for $27,000! So Take Me to the Dark is my followup, sticking to doing 1 game and 1 divination project a year.

All three games on this project are card-based roleplaying games. ZOETROPE and WHAT WE POSSESS use their own special cards, while SECRET HALLS makes use of a playing card deck for its gameplay. While it comes with a special made playing card deck, any standard deck of cards work for the gameplay.

As card-based games, the three games require little book keeping. There is no need for character sheets or pencils. That makes these games ideal for little to no preparation before sitting down to play, and best suited for one-shot games-- that being games that are run for one game session and completed in that time.

Roleplaying with Cards
What We Possess
Zoetrope

Secret Halls

Take Me to the Dark: 3 Games of the Strange by Publishing Goblin — Kickstarter
Each game is just $25, will come in a small game box, and can be grabbed in a bundle for $60. If you have time, and the funds, please give it a look. I know that growing a games audience from my divination audience is a bit hardwon, but I'm looking to really support both equally. Also the artists on these games have worked so hard on their pieces, I can't wait to share how beautiful all the components truly are!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to take a look. If you find they aren't your kind of thing, but you want to support your local Publishing Goblin, please pledge at the $5 tier. It means the world to me to have any and all support I can find.

Thank you, thank you, thank you,

Project Update: The Oracle is in the Room With Us! | Deadline reminders

Hello denizens of New Avernus,

Quick reminders that we're past the deadline to claim your pledge at this point for anyone who didn't do their survey or pay for shipping, and that the deadline to let us know if your package has gone missing or arrived damaged/incorrect is currently July 7th. I'm keeping an eye on the late orders going out to people, and will make sure to extend the deadline if needed to let people have a week with their items first if needed.

Missing your Oracle Deck?

I've received a few emails now of people letting me know their Oracle deck is missing from their order-- I assure you, it's just in the game box! : )
If you are missing an item though, or if it arrives damaged (unfortunately 2 have so far) you can still reach out to me at [email protected].

I do want to be clear, the best way to reach us (and get a reply) is by email. Commenting on backerkit doesn't alert me in any way so I generally just don't end up seeing comments here. (On Kickstarter I get an email for every single message/comment, which is why Im so much more responsive there!) So please email!

Playing the Game? Show Me!

I have been OVERJOYED to hear from people who are out there playing the game, and especially so to get pictures of people's play sessions and smiling faces. You can tag me @DaneAsmund or @PublishGoblin on twitter, @PublishingGoblin on Facebook or Instagram, or @PublishingGoblin on Tumblr! Nothing is as fun as seeing your game live in the world, being touched, played, wrecked. Thanks for playing!

The Alleyway Oracles

And yes, the Alleyway Oracles is in the final 2 weeks over on Kickstarter, and just broke $500,000! If you have a moment and haven't already pledged, please give it a look! It's full of lots of very neat things! : )

Alright, I'll see you all on the 7th when the last deadline hits.

Project Update: Final Orders Sent | New Deadline for Reporting Damaged or Missing Items | Events?

Hello denizens of New Avernus,

A week ago today, we hit the deadline for people to get their final information in, fix payment, etc for their orders.
As of today, 4 people never did their surveys, and 22 people never paid for their shipping.
I'm currently sending the 40(!) orders over to SendFromChina for final fulfillment. Once that's done, I'll be having the remaining New Avernus sets be shipped by freight over to me in the US, where I will store the extra items and... try to sell them, I guess!

Overall, 513 backers got Oracles of Glass and Stone or copies of New Avernus on this project, and that's pretty great! Definitely a more humble beginning than my divination projects, but as my first step back into tabletop games, I think it was pretty amazing. So thanks for your support!

I do want to note that you can still reach out to me at [email protected] if your order arrives and is damaged or missing items. The new deadline here is 45 days from today to let us know if your package went missing or if items are missing/damaged from your order. I'll do my best to make sure you are all taken care of!

I do want to be clear, the best way to reach us (and get a reply) is by email. Commenting on backerkit doesn't alert me in any way so I generally just don't end up seeing comments here. (On Kickstarter I get an email for every single message/comment, which is why Im so much more responsive there!) So please email!

July 7th is the deadline to let us know if your package is missing/damaged, or if items are missing or damaged from your order. After that time, this project will be considered fully put to bed.

Packages Still Traveling

I've heard from people who have their copies of the game and love it, their oracles and are using them! I've also heard from people who were looking for their tracking info, and when I followed up it looked like it was still enroute. But as of a couple days ago, even people whose orders just got on ships on the 10th had their items arriving to their country. I think in the next week, everyone should have their items in hand from those orders.

The 40 orders I'm sending out now will likely arrive in mid to late June around the world, but I will be flexible with the July 7th due date to let me know about missing or strange packages for these final 40 especially. Just be sure to let me know by email if anything is off! : )

When I get the remaining stock in June, I'll be putting some copies up on my square store: Home | Caretaker + 7 (square.site)
But mostly I'll shop them to local game stores and see if anyone wants to carry it! They're big boxes and awkward/costly to ship, as well as store.

Hello!

This year, I'm trying more than ever to be present at all the things I can be present at. Last year, I was invited to be a headlining guest at the Phoenix Autumn Meet pagan festival in Florida, and I'll be returning this year as a non-headlining guest. Then closer to Samhain, I will be at the Florida Pagan Gathering as a headlining guest!

In August I'll be at GenCon, running games of ZOETROPE, my timetraveling card-based RPG, as well as my Five Nights at Freddy's unofficial TTRPG system, then I'll be at Pax Unplugged to do much the same and Big Bad Con also! If I can fit the big honking box of New Avernus in my bags, I'll run some pickup games of that as well at all three!

If you're working at a pagan or tabletop event and can invite guests, I'm happy to go most anywhere and would love the chance to meet many of you! So where are you all going, and do you think you might see me at one of your events? Let me know! : )

Thanks for your support,

Project Update: Deadline Tonight/Tomorrow | PO Box Orders | Alleyway Oracles

Hello my dear denizens of New Avernus,

First off, I want to let everyone know that the deadline for the 4 people who haven't done their surveys, and the 26 people with declined cards/failed to charge shipping/haven't put a card on for shipping is tonight. I will accept any emails or connections tonight or tomorrow, but on the 18th I will be exporting the last batch of orders for SFC to fulfill. Then the rest of the supply will be sent to me in Denver, hopefully to put in some local game stores!

On the 18th, anyone who has not reached out who still has a survey or order outstanding with shipping fees, etc, will have their order forfeit. I've emailed them multiple times, so they should have clear communication to check in on.

PO Box Orders

It looks like there were about 30 people who had PO Boxes that my shipper is concerned about, as they will cost extra. That is why some orders have apparently not gone out! I am telling them to use another service and charge me. Whatever the extra cost, I'll just foot it. Let's get everyone's games and oracles to them!

If you're uncertain about the state of your order, an item is missing, or your package gets lost in the mail, please email me at [email protected], and I'll reach out to SFC to follow up. My email inbox is a warzone right now, so please give me up to a week to reply. If you have reached out though, your order will not be forfeit for going over the deadline as long as you reached out before the deadline at the top of the update. My tardiness won't cost you, promise.

The Oracles

The Alleyway Oracles has been live for just 8 hours and it's already made 200,000+. The biggest day for the Alleyman's Tarot was $107k or so. So this might be another massive one. But we have lots of stretch goals and items to unlock and have revealed, so please if you are so inclined, go take a look!

If you're still waiting on your game or oracle, there are no hard feelings if you'd rather sit this new project out until your items arrive. I understand and appreciate having had your support on New Avernus especially! I can tell I have a much smaller audience for games, but I want to get back into producing games opposite divination projects, so having you all here really meant a lot to me.

In October, I'm taking another leap with a re-imagined version of my card-based roleplaying game, ZOETROPE. It's a zany game where you play as time patrol agents in a game that can be entirely generated by the cards, allowing all players to come to the table without any preparation. It's long been my favorite game I've made, but it never got much of a wide release. Hopefully I can see some of you there. Thanks everyone!

My thanks,

7DA,
your pub gob

Project Update: Shipping Updates | Final Deadline!

Hello Denizens of New Avernus,

As of today, 473 of you have either had packages sent, delivered, or going out this week for the 40~ people who got in late surveys that I just handed off to fulfillment yesterday.

5 people have yet to fill out their surveys, and 61 people have yet to pay for their shipping charge or have had their cards fail to charge. They have all been sent emails by Backerkit and by myself just yesterday, so if you aren't sure if that includes you, check for an email from [email protected] from yesterday!

THE DEADLINE

I want to remind people that we have until the 16th (a week from today) to square away those late surveys and/or failed charges. I will be sending the final fulfillment batch to our fulfillment center on the 17th, the day after. Anyone who doesn't get those things taken care of by that time, or at least contact me to let me know what's going on and start a dialogue, will forfeit their pledged items as funds in support of the project instead.

SHIPPING

As noted at the top, everything is already in hand, in the mail, or being delivered this week with the exception of the 66 people who need to finish surveys/fix shipping charges. If you haven't received anything (or tracking), you can ping me at [email protected] in about a week, as by then everyone should have the items or a tracking notification. There's always a few people who slip through the cracks one way or another, especially with the way we were handling getting shipping costs on people's orders using some experimental features on backerkit. So don't feel bad about reaching out just to check! : )

THE REMAINDER

The remaining items (ones that weren't claimed during the project, or ones that are forfeited after the deadline above) will be sold. As of this time I will likely be offering them on my square store. This will include the Oracle deck and the game itself. I won't have the remaining stock sent to me until after the orders I send them on the 17th are sent out and fulfilled, so there's some time and wiggle room all around.

And that's that!

I'm really glad we got this out into the world (or at least the mail for those of you farthest from the shipper!) before the deadline, and am excited to see games of New Avernus (or readings with the amazing oracle!) for months to come!

Thanks so much everyone, and talk again quite soon I imagine!
In the background, an incredible artist has been hard at work reimagining my time-travel, card-based roleplaying game with all new visuals and card templates, and I will be launching in October if all goes well! So stay tuned,

Project Update: Items Heading Out | Final Survey and Shipping Deadlines

Hello denizens of New Avernus,

It feels like it's already been too long since the previous update. The fulfillment center has the items on hand and has for a week or two now but the slow crawl of the bureaucracy to get things to move has been an annoying delay. Still, they have been paid, they have a list of the 380~ people who got their surveys done and shipping charges paid, and this week things should start traveling!

For the 100 others who have not yet paid their shipping charges or 20 who have not filled out their surveys, please be sure to get on it when you can!

I know some people did their surveys late and haven't been given a shipping charge yet. I will step in to input that this week, and once more weekly as I see surveys get completed.

The Final Deadline

We're all set to get shipping for the 380 people who got everything done on time. Again, that should be everything going out this week.
For the 120 people still fixing shipping costs and surveys, you have until May 16th to get it done, or to reach out to Backerkit support/me for any assistance you need to get things set in place. Up to and about a week after that time, I will put orders through with my fulfillment center.

After that time (May 16th, 2023), any unclaimed rewards will be put into the pile to head to me, where I will begin selling the remaining copies and looking to get local stores to carry the game. Originally, I wasn't going to have the fulfillment center hold the inventory for more than a week, but I do want to give people a month from today to get things clarified with banks or surveys or whatnot.

After May 16th, any pledges left unclaimed, or surveys left undone, or shipping left unpaid, will consider the pledge rewards forfeit. I will not be doing refunds on those, with the funds paid-in considered support for the project.

Need Help?

Reach out to backerkit support for assistance! If they can't fix it they will forward you to me, so be sure to use that channel! It will get to whoever can help, one way or another.

Thanks all,

Project Update: Shipping Charges Coming !

I've got the shipping charges in hand and we're attaching them to everyone's orders today/Monday.
The current plan is to begin charging on Tuesday.

You will receive an email notification of the shipping charge as well in that time period to let you know how much you owe and that it's going to be charged. Packages should be going into the mail here very shortly, and I'll let people know as soon as I know that items are moving!

Thanks so much for your patience y'all, New Avernus (and the Oracle of Stone and Glass) is about to be out in the world, and in your hands!

Project Update: Shipping Coming!

Hello everyone,

Today I hit the button to lock everyone's orders and addresses. This means we are heading to fulfillment!
You have 48 hours from now to update your address. I was told that around the 20th, the manufacturer Magicraft is sending the games and oracle decks over to the fulfillment center. From there, we'll be gathering orders and sending them out! International orders should be going directly from China, but US and likely Canada orders will be coming overseas and then going out to people. Since this is lining up pretty spot on with the fulfillment on the Oracle Dice, I can say that should be happening at about the same pace-- meaning international packages should be going to people in April based on distance from China, and US and Canada orders should look for their orders to be arriving mid to late April.

Please update your addresses accordingly as necessary. If you are moving and will be somewhere else in mid to late April, update the address to the new one. If you aren't sure where you'll be, update it to a friend's address, or a coworkers, or work, or family. Sometimes USPS address forwarding works with packages, sometimes it doesn't. I've heard it work both ways plenty on the Alleyman's, so be sure to update to an address with us that works best! : )

To update your address, you MUST go into your survey for this project and adjust the address there. Updating your address on file with your Backerkit profile doesn't (as far as I know) affect this project's specific address on file. So go into your supported projects and adjust the address on this project specifically. IF you need assistance, you can ask Backerkit support for help, or you can reach out to me at [email protected]. These are due Wednesday at noon MST. No changes can be made after that.

I will be pinging again this week or the start of next with shipping prices input, and letting you know that you have a day or two to make sure things are good before I charge shipping costs. Thanks so much everyone, we're almost at the end!

New Avernus is such a strange and unique game-- honestly I've never played anything quite like it. A race to build a city to be smashed by a meteor, in hopes that luck is on your side and the meteor ruins your opponents. I think that the game has a lot more future ahead of it, and after it's been in the world a year or so, we'll see what the next steps are with it.

Thanks for your patience all, talk again very soon,

Project Update: Manufacturing in Swing!

If you backed all three of my currently in process projects, don't be alarmed. The updates are all named the same thing because apparently at three different manufacturers, the projects are in manufacturing.

I have heard from the manufacturer, Magicraft, that we will be completed with manufacturing in March. I asked when in March, and honestly I just have yet to get an answer. But it's been quite some time since you all heard from me on here, and I apologize for that. I didn't have any news to share, and technically still don't until I know when in March things will be wrapping up.

When the manufacturing is finished, the games will move next door to the fulfillment center and head out into the world. By April everyone's orders should be in the mail or in people's hands already, but I'll be sharing updates as that occurs.

That being said, I am looking forward to the rest of the year! I will be at Gencon this year in August/July (whenever it is!) with the co-creator, Asher Stuhlman, and we intend to run a small New Avernus tournament for players to try the game and have a chance at winning a free copy if they win the tournament.

I will also be bringing a variety of my games, including the 2nd edition of ZOETROPE in an early printing, as it will be funding in October this year. ZOETROPE is a fun, card-based time travel roleplaying game that I can't wait to share with the world again. I'm working with an awesome artist, Rickie Lee Benedetto, and the whole game is getting a face lift.

There will also be playtest materials for my big book TTRPG, Confluence: The Living Archive, available at the convention, at PaxUnplugged, and at Big Bad Con this year. I also have some other smaller games that I will be bringing along, updated versions of some old classics of the Publishing Goblin catalogue, and more. So if you're going to any of those conventions this year, let me know and maybe we can say hi and play the game together!

Thanks for your patience as we await the manufacturing to wrap up, but it's already in swing now so it's only a matter of time!

Project Update: Final files sent to manufacturer | Surveys tonight!

Hello everyone!

Congrats us, the game is finished in its playtesting for both the full game and solo play variants, and all the final files have been sent to the manufacturer. Life has been a little bumpy lately so it was a little later than intended, but things are all still moving.

I am sending the smoke test-- a small set of surveys-- to make sure nothing is wrong with the surveys or contents. Since there are only 2 items in the project, the oracle deck or the game itself, I can't imagine much could go wrong! But you never know.

Everyone who pledged in the first 24 hours has had a free copy of the oracle added to their cart. If you want to get an extra copy, or a copy of the game in addition to what you have, now is the time to do so.
Please note that shipping is not being charged at this time. We are waiting until we're closer to the actual ship date of Feb/March 2023, so prices are fully accurate. Charging shipping too soon on the Alleyman's left me with big money gaps on shipping costs due to the wild inflation of shipping prices due to all the world nonsense, so we're waiting until a month or so before shipping to lock in addresses and charge those.

I'll give to the end of the week to have a better idea of my order numbers, and then tell the manufacturer how many I want of everything after they've okayed the files. Most of the files have already been printed, but a couple are new, so they may have changes needed on those. That will be very quick.

I'll let everyone know when I have an updated timeline that's a bit more certain than vaguely feb/march. I know we'll be hitting the Chinese holiday in February, so I'll ensure we plan around it when I deliver the absolute timeline in the next update.

Thanks so much for your support and patience everyone!

And please let your friends know that pre-orders of the game will be ending at the end of the year, and to hurry up and get their order in for New Avernus or the Glass and Stone Oracle! : )

Project Update: The Road Forward

Hello all you amazing people!
I'm a little behind on the wrapup here, my apologies. I have been emptying my storage unit this week so I can stop paying for it! An admirable goal, but it means I've been neglectful. Well, no longer!

We will begin charging backers now, and tomorrow I will be putting up the post-campaign page, including the pre-order store which will stay open through December. Thought I would get that done today but doesn't look to be happening just yet.
(Edit: I did it right now! I should be getting surveys out to you all this week so you can go to add-ons if you desire.)
((This should be the pre-order store if you want to share with friends who missed the campaign!))

Finances

So financially, the campaign broke even very nicely. This is a first forray back into games for me. If you aren't familiar, my first crowdfunding campaigns, and indeed the first dozen campaigns I launched on crowdfunding, were games!
4 failed. The rest were slowly gaining momentum, but momentum in a $1500 to then $2100 kind of way.  The biggest campaign had 122 backers and made $2,848.

Needless to say, this is a leap forward in comparison. It's not $1.4 million like the Alleyman's, and it's not the $300k+ off the Oracle Dice, but it's the biggest game crowdfunding campaign I've ever done by a factor of 10 at the least. Considering how many games I have to crowdfund next year, it sure looks like a good sign to me!

(For those curious, you can look forward to ZOETROPE, a card-based Time travel roleplaying game full of fun shenanigans going to a second edition, the first expansion and reprint of New Avernus once it's been out in the world for almost a year, What We Possess, a ghostly story-telling card game, and/or maybe a first look at my upcoming deck-building card game Spiritual Slaughter Seven, or my law-making game Ultimaeus, or who knows what else. There's so many games out here!)

If you're curious on the specific finances, it basically breaks it down to:
Bringing in around $26,000 after fees, then paying around $8000 after additional fees and ads with Backerkit, $8500-9000 on manufacturing, and $11,000 reimbursing my company for work the artist (Emma) did on the game, the oracle, I have already paid for. Any remaining earnings, which it's looking to be about nothing just yet before we get to pre-orders and extra add-ons, will go to Asher for redesigning the game. We'll have time before the end of the year to bring some more money in for him though, so don't worry just yet.

Adjustments and Manufacturing

I am sending the final adjustments for the game to the artist to adjust some cards, tiles, typos, color fixes, etc today and tomorrow. There's little to adjust at this point, we did a LOT of finetuning leading up to the print tests I have on hand, so there's not a lot to change now in the final hour, which is great!

Asher and I are doing a little more blind playtesting to make sure the rulebook explains the game clearly and well for new players who don't have he or I on hand to teach the game. Should be complete shortly for us to submit for full-scale production! Then we ship out, which will be quite lovely.

Thanks for supporting this, it means a lot to me and Asher both, and it's amazing to have so much love for a return to games for my company! There's a LOT more where this comes from, so stay on the lookout, and talk very soon as surveys go out!

Project Update: The Final 72 Hours

On this project, posting such an update sure makes it sound like the Meteor is coming in real life. Or perhaps a falling moon...

I had no idea what to expect trying to jump into games after only finally gathering a real following of supporters in divination. This was certainly more than I could have hoped for! Thank you for your incredible support!

As I continue to post in various places of the games world online, I would appreciate any and all help spreading the news of the game! Twitter, facebook, tumblr, wherever you think you can share the project would be helpful.

The Solo Play

I've also had time to sit and play through the Solo version of the game with the Oracle Deck. It's a truly strange and unique play experience. To take actions, you reveal cards of the Oracle Deck instead of using worker pawns. Depending on what card comes up, you gain additional affects after your action is taken. Your structures that produce resources might finally give you those resources, or the meteor tracker may gain in strength as a negative effect befalls you, or you may gain some other boon. Exploring the level 2 or 3 ruins spaces? You'll have to flip over 2 or 3 cards at once.

The game's pace is wildly different than the multiplayer experience. You set it. Need to take a moment to get your bearings and figure out where to play next, or what structure might be best to build? Take your time. But each time you take an action, moving forward to explore or build, the deck draws you faster and faster until you get closer to its bottom, where the Meteor awaits to end it all.

It's a very fun and engaging version of play, where as you take actions the game pulls you deeper into the thick of things. If you don't have the oracle deck yet, I highly suggest adding it now!

The Future of the Game

A week or so ago, Asher (the co-creator and lead designer of the final version of the game) and I sat down to chat about the future of the game. It's great, it's fun, and it's complete, but there's always space for more. The original version of my game had Traitors and direct competitive elements where you could make things worse for other players. In that version, your city could be destroyed multiple times during the game, and points gathered cumulatively.

The future looks like an expansion set of the game with a few fun options.
  1. New factions to play as are, of course, a requirement.
  2. A Threat system that builds danger during play, which can cause bad things to happen to everyone as more and more risks are taken, well before the meteor hits. Each player can take on more Threat to make bigger risks for themselves, or actively seek to dampen their own Threat levels with unique structures and abilities.
  3. Stickers that add new mechanics to old cards, structure tiles, and faction cards to make the core game forwards compatible.
  4. Stickers that can be played on the back sides of play boards for a Legacy version of the game, where each game only leads into further and further game states in later play throughs.
  5. And I've always wanted to see a cooperative, large-scale city-builder version of the game where you all work on one large board to build the greatest city that can stand!

All of these future expansions of the game will be compatible with the core game you are getting now, and none will just simply replace components in the core game. Through clever rules and some stickers, every element of the core game will carry forward into the future expansions, even some expansions that will change the rules themselves down to every last piece of how the game plays.

Thank you for joining me on this weird boardgame journey. I can't wait to see what the future holds for New Avernus!
