This week I’m taking the opportunity to tell you all about our VIP bonus for this campaign, how you can get a sneak peek if you plan on attending Gamehole Con, and giving you some information about our upcoming Renegade Con.
The Card
Lestat de Lioncourt’s beautiful calling card, gold foiled with a quick reference guide on the back. If you want this card then don’t wait to pre-pledge.
Why?
Because you can only get this bonus BEFORE the campaign launches.
Once we launch in October this card will not be part of the add-ons or accessories because it’s a special perk for those who decided early that they would be joining this coven..
Accepting the dark gift early has its perks, non?
The quick reference table on the back also gives a bit of a sneak peek at some of the mechanics of the game.
Dice Rolls
Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe Roleplaying Game is played with 10 sided dice, often shortened to d10.
Rolling a 1 to 6 is a miss
Rolling 7 to 10 is a hit
Any 1s or 10s you roll are locked and cannot be re-rolled
For each 1 on your roll, one Hit is removed
For each 10 you receive, you roll an extra d10 and add that roll to your total Hits and Misses
In the above image I’ve rolled 3 misses and 2 hits. Because I’ve also rolled a 1 my number of hits is lowered to just 1. However because I rolled a 10 I get to roll an extra die
Since I rolled a 7 on that extra die my total roll is 3 misses and 2 hits
So, why are you rolling dice?
Facing A Test
During your adventure you’ll be faced with tests and you’ll draw on appropriate traits.
Your narrator sets the target, which is the number of hits you need to roll to succeed with no escalation.
Roll 5d10—that means rolling 5 dice with 10 sides each— and check for a natural success.
If you meet the target number of hits you get to end the test right there. But what if you fail?
Fret not.
Use rerolls and adjustments- you’ll have fascinations, traits, and other character advantages that you can use to manipulate the outcome in your favor.
Compare the hits to the target set by your Narrator.
Escalation occurs when you roll under or over the target.
Going over also means you’ll suffer an escalation because, let’s be real, there is such a thing as overdoing it, even vampires aren’t immune to that.
Now that you’re acquainted with the function next week we can discuss the form—that is, the dice themselves.
We’ve specially designed dice to go with this game because the style of a regular d10 simply wasn’t dramatic enough.
