Project Update: PINS ARE OUT!

Hi everyone!

If you're one of the 102 awesome humans who filled out your pledge survey, your pins are now on their way to you!

Numbering, mounting, labelling, packing, and lugging all those pins was a bit of an undertaking that I had underestimated (I've never had this many limited edition pins to sort before!), but I'm super stoked to be sending these out to all of you.

Thanks again the patience and support, and hope you enjoy the pins!

I'll likely be taking a bit of a break from pin crowdfunding for a while (I've got a soft vinyl toy in the works coming up next), but you can always keep track of what I'm up to on instagram or my Patreon or by subscribing to the shop newsletter (I rarely send stuff out tbh) over at the store https://evilpin.club/shop

Thanks so much!

PS - If you haven't filled out the survey, I'll be sending out a few FINAL announcements. Consider this your 3 month warning before I consider your pledges as donations to the furtherment of horror art.

Cheers,
Rick

Project Update: Pins are in! Locking addresses at the end of the week!

Howdy folks!

The pins are in and they look good!

Pretty stoked on these, but after working on assembling them (opening bags, removing backings, numbering cards, laying out the pins in numerical order, attaching them to the backing card) I'm realizing that it'll likely take me a few days to get these all set-up.

If you wanna watch a quick overview (I've even got tools to help!) of the process, you can check out my IG reel here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CrwG4vGq-5Q/

This is the downside to doing limited edition, numbered pins, but I think it makes the project all the cooler.

Anyway, this means I'll be locking addresses later this week and hopefully will have the first batches to ship out end of this week, early next! So if you've got any address updates, now is the time to make them!

Thanks for your patience and here we gooooo!

PS - Update to make the exceptionally reflecting near-black Shub-Niggurath clearer - I can get detail with some reflection, or have the linework disappear to show true color.

Project Update: Pins are almost here!

Hi y'all,

Just wanted to give you an update that the backing cards have been printed, shipping material is ready to go, and I'm just waiting on the pins themselves, which I just got word are on their way now.

I'm waiting on locking addresses because I want to first make sure that the pins came out as expected, and since we're doing limited edition pins I need to do a QA check to make sure they're all solid, so please be patient a wee bit longer, and I hope to get these out to you ASAP.

So what's next?

After I have the pins in hand and have made sure they're up to spec, I'll give y'all a few days to lock/update your addresses while I go into factory mode to get your pins packed and ready to go out to you all, and then I'll be getting them all out in the mail.

Thanks again and looking forward to getting these out into the world! Ia Ia!

Project Update: Important Shoggoth Design Update - Please read!

Hi everyone!

So I've got some important production news regarding the shoggoth pin.

I've been working with my factory to try and get the pantone colors right, but I made the biggest rookie mistake of designing the pin on my computer without consulting a pantone color guide first. For those not in the design world. Pantone colors are a specific brand's guide to reproducing color - computer monitors all represent color differently, so if you've ever printed a photo off your computer and are surprised the color shifts - well, that's what's happening.

Anyway, I really liked all the subtle greenish greys my monitor was giving me, but upon consulting my Pantone colors, I couldn't get quite the right colors to accurate reproduce the greenish greys, so I ended up skewing everything a bit more greenish.

I personally think that this makes the pin design stronger overall (like the protoplasmic slime is being influenced by the light from the glowing orb-eyes), but I also acknowledge that this isn't what you might have pledged for, so I wanted to let you all know ASAP.

I'm going to move forward with this design, but if the more greenish hue really kills the pin for you, please let me know within a week (just reply here and I'll reach out) to figure out how to make it right for y'all.

I appreciate your understanding, and I hope you all are as excited as I am for the updated design!

Cheers,
Rick

Project Update: Charging cards Tuesday am PT!

Hi everyone! Hope you're having an awesome weekend.

I just wanted to update you that I've got the greenlight from BackerKit and Stripe to start processing cards, so I'll be charging cards on Tuesday AM, Pacific Time.

Factory stuff seems like it should be good to go, so it's looking like pretty smooth sailing from here. Will update you as soon as I get an estimated date from them of when I'll get pins, and then it should be just a matter of packing and shipping them out to you all!

Thanks again for all the support!

Cheers, Rick

Project Update: Locking surveys ASAP - cards being charged next week!

Hi fam,

Just a quick update from me - I got wind that Stripe (the credit card processor BackerKit uses) was having some weirdness with the Pintopia projects, so after talking to some folks at BackerKit, we decided it would be best to iron things out first with Stripe and then charge cards next week.

Super sorry if this causes any issues - please let me know ASAP if this is gonna be a problem.

That said, we're on a 48 hour timeline until surveys autolock, so please please please make sure you fill out your survey within the next two days from this update/email's timestamp.

Remember, this just locks in what you want - your address will be collected closer to shipping in late-April.

Thanks again, and btw, if any of you are planning on attending WonderCon, definitely swing by Artist Alley table A-14 and say hello!

Hope you're having a great week,
Rick

Project Update: 96% of surveys in! Lock date this Wednesday!

Hi all!

Just a friendly reminder that there are (ironically and maybe perfect given my overall vibe) 13 of you who still need to fill out your survey!

That said, I don't want to hold up production for most folks, so we're locking things down this Wednesday the 15th!

If you don't fill out your survey by then, I can't guarantee you'll get the pins you want. I'll be making a pretty small overage for the limited edition pins, and I also will need your mailing address, so if you want your pins, please make sure to get those surveys in ASAP!

For everyone else, thank you for getting your surveys answered. So far the prepping of designs for manufacturing has been going well and we should be set to roll once I get a final count for the order!

Thanks again and have a great week!

Project Update: Survey have been sent out + Lock date - March 15

Howdy folks!

Just wanted to confirm with y'all that backer surveys have already been sent out. If you're still waiting to get one, I'd search "Lovecraftian Horrors" in your email, and double check spam or promotions folders.

If you're looking for your survey, or you want to return to your survey and editing it, you can do so by requesting your survey link under “Lost your survey?” on this page or by clicking the same link in your survey email.

I'll be locking the orders on March 15 (meaning you won't be able to add extra pins, etc), so please make sure you get your surveys in by then! Also, if you might be moving in the next little while don't fret, I won't lock *addresses* until I've got the pins in hand and am ready to ship.

If you have any questions between the difference, feel free to reach out.

Hope you're having an awesome start to the week and thanks again!

Project Update: Surveys within 48 hours

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to give you a quick update - surveys have been given the green light and will be rolling out over the next 48 hours, so make sure you're keeping an eye out.

I initially mentioned of having the lock date be 2/28, which is completely ridiculous in hindsight, so likely surveys will be due-due closer to mid-March, but the earlier that you get them in, the quicker I can get the pins out to you!

May you have an awesome week, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you've got any questions!

Thanks again,
Rick

Project Update: BackerKit Surveys coming soooooon!

Howdy howdy everyone!

Sorry for the delay on this, but surveys should be coming out within the next few days!

This is my first time using BackerKit and the pledge manager (believe it or not I used to process all my Kickstarter campaigns with spreadsheets and a bit of madness), so it's taken me some time to get everything all sorted out on the backend, but we should be good to go very soon.

Within a few days, you’ll receive an email with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards. Ideally by the end of the month (ie. Feb. 28th).

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://www.backerkit.com/c/rick-kitagawa/lovecraftian-horrors.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support at https://www.backerkit.com/c/rick-kitagawa/lovecraftian-horrors/faqs#top

Coooooolio. Thanks again and keep an eye out on that inbox!

Cheers,
Rick

Project Update: Here’s what to expect next

Thank you for supporting Lovecraftian Horrors which was 1 of 20 projects participating in Pintopia 2023. Thanks to your support 100% of the projects were fully funded!

There are a few next steps I wanted to share:

  1. Expect an email letting you know your payment has been charged. If there are any issues with your payment we will notify you with next steps.

  2. We will need to collect some additional info such as your pin selections and shipping information before we send rewards. In the coming weeks we will send you a survey to collect that information.

  3. Since all Pintopia projects were 100% funded, you will be getting a FREE Pintopia 2023 pin from BackerKit. And if you backed 3+ pins you’ve earned some additional pins. Stay tuned for more information from BackerKit about how you will receive those pins.

Again, thanks for your support and stay tuned for more information soon.

Boy! I sure wish there were a Cthulhu pin in the campaign like the one shown in the poll! (I'd still get the King in Yellow, but I'd definitely have to add that one!)

Project Update: One week left - new poll!

Hello all you Lovecraftian Horrors fiends,

With one week remaining, I just wanted to thank you all again for backing, and I figured this group would be able to answer a very serious question that came up the other day.

If Shub-Niggurath, Cthulhu, and Hastur got into a direct confrontation, who would win?

Obviously, I had to substitute Cthulhu in for our baby little protoplasmic horror, as it really stands no chance again the King in Yellow nor the Black Goat with A Thousand young, but I felt you knowledgeable folks with great taste in arcane lore and mythos would have the answer.

Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you at the finish line!

Thanks again,
Rick
