I have tried a few months ago to contact Shadowlands Games asking for a refund, with no luck. Just like the communication about this project, they went silent and didn't even bother to reply. I feel like this project has been abandoned and they are just refusing to give our money back. The campaign was launched July 2024 and in April 2026 we are still waiting, not just for the physical copy of the game, but for the digital edition too. I understand that projects can face unexpected problems and delays, but those must be addressed with your backers openly and clearly. You cannot post a comment every 2/3 months saying everything is almost done, without giving your backers some real progress, and call it a day. I do not expect Shadowlands Games to reply to this comment, but I want to share my thoughts about this project and hear what other backers have to say about this project and how Shadowlands Games is managing it. It's a shame how they've ruined a project that I once financed with great enthusiasm.

Project Update: Current Status of Trickerion: the Role-playing Game

Dear Backers,

It has been some time since our last update, and we apologize for the silence and the delays. The project has not stopped at any point and, even if it sounds repetitive, it continues to move forward step by step — and you will have it in your hands.

In this update, we would like to talk about all of that and share the current status of the project with you.

PROJECT STATUS

As mentioned in the previous update, certain aspects of the game system have been reoriented, others adjusted, and some sections rewritten where we felt it was necessary. These changes have gone through review and playtesting phases. At the same time, other areas have been further developed and expanded. This has resulted in a slower pace than we initially anticipated.

We want to share some of the topics that have been rewrited.

Deepening Magoria
Bringing together all of Magoria’s lore and the board game background was both a challenge and a pleasure. However, the Trickerion design team felt it was necessary to deepen and further expand the city.

To make it feel more alive and enjoyable, Magoria has been enlarged. In addition to Downtown, Market Row, and Dark Alley — which carry significant weight within the city — the area dedicated to shows, theaters, and related activities will now form a district in its own right: Riverside. But these will not be the only districts. Additional areas expand the city’s social, industrial, and hidden places, each with its own identity, factions, conflicts, and opportunities — as befits Magoria, the great capital of illusion, its magicians, and its Dawn of Technology.

These districts and their factions do not only provide lore, compelling locations, and narrative depth to explore; they are also mechanically integrated into the game through the Magicians’ Company Phase, its reputation system, the city’s factions, and the modifiers they introduce.

Our goal is clear: Magoria should not only be played — it should feel alive. Exploring it should be just as enjoyable as competing within it.

The River
The river — how it is navigated and the unique technology associated with it — will carry meaningful weight both in the playable lore and as a resource for game masters and players alike. It serves as a source of adventure hooks, logistical possibilities, and transportation. This includes not only vessels and commerce, but also the peculiarities of the city’s underground and some of the more curious inhabitants who dwell there.

We continue working on Trickerion: the role-playing game and little by little each step leads us to the end.

Thank you for yoru patience.

Queridos mecenas:
