You deserve some hint of kobold action, so here you go:

The Kobolds were close to the dragons, eagerly serving and watching over all that the dragons considered precious. When the dragons had clear purposes, their colors matching their very destinies and the world made a little more sense, the kobolds strode just under them with pride in their eyes.

It was during that time, just before the balances were thrown completely off, that they met the saurians.

Strange creatures, they were fuzzy at first, but with every generation, became more like dragons, and more like kobolds. They protected eggs and watched over the dinosaurs as if they were family.

And if those two were family, and the dragons did not oppose, what choice was left for the kobolds? They spread open their arms and greeted these strange creatures, and got warm welcomes in response. The two people gladly joined forces, even as the dragons lost their grasp on the world.

Some kobolds did not agree with the majority. In their eyes, the saurians were part of the problem that drove dragons away from them. For that minority, the saurians became enemies even as the rest of their people spoke of alliances and friendships that would endure.

The kobolds that held the dragons, lost as they were, as their one and persistent gods, came to be known as godkeepers. They are a minority, but a vocal one. They hold the other kobolds, and the saurians, with deep suspicion. They blame the loss of the dragons on the saurians, and ponykind behind them. They see the Author's meddling as a curse, and believe that if they could just find a way to reverse it, the dragons would return to their senses and their rightful place as the masters of all the world.
