Talespinner Games is happy to announce that all original backers will receive a courtesy copy of both the Rat Queens Core Box AND the Braga Expansion! (Note: this courtesy copy applies to any backer who pledged at Novice Adventurer tier or higher in 2021).

Before the instructions, it is important to remember: This is a 100%, wholly new Rat Queens campaign by Talespinner Games and other than courtesy copies of our game to 2021 backers, we aren't affiliated in any way with Deep Water Games/ Source Point Games and Ox Eye Media, their parent company.

We are making every attempt to redeem their failed campaign, as we believe it is the right thing to do, not just as Talespinner Games, but also on behalf of the Rat Queens fans, and the creators themselves; Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch. We realize we cannot make the 2021 campaign entirely whole, but we have invested our own time and finances to produce this incredibly authentic Rat Queens game and are confident it stands at the highest possible quality. 
 

Our ability to send your courtesy copy relies on our new campaign being a success by reaching our funding goal. We've all gone through a long journey together, and we are incredibly close to finally giving this story a proper and justified ending. We need your help, either with your support on our new campaign, or by spreading the word to friends and family who may have missed the original campaign. We are confident that we can complete this adventure, together!

You will need to be manually added to the list. We will verify your Kickstarter pledge with our backer report from Kickstarter and you will be given access to the special locked Pledge Tiers for original backers, which will be available on Launch Day. 3) If you are a retailer we will be managing this process outside the campaign and will require your information to deal more directly with honouring your pledge. You can also fill out this form and we will reach out to you during the campaign to confirm your original pledge and work together to get to you what you paid in trust to Ox Eye Media/Source Points Games. You have until September 7th, end of day, to fill out this form! DO NOT FORGET!

We are gearing up to launch this redemption quest on September 8th at Noon PST!

This campaign will feature a Choose Your Own Adventure comic called Vengeance on Villains and it will be updated every 4 days during the crowdfunding period which will be adding new content to the core game. You will find out what these additions are on launch day, September 8th, but it is an incredibly exciting upgrade that will add a whole new, rich dimension to the game.

Vengeance on Villains is our version of stretch goals, what we're calling Narrative Unlocks meaning there is no financial stretch goal, but free additional game components alongside a fun Rat Queens story and let you, the backers, choose the path of the Queens as they bust out of prison and track down Gus the Good to get revenge!

Each choice will add a custom component to the game, so you the backers must choose wisely! (Note: Narrative Unlocks are featured in our Veteran and Battleborn pledge tiers.)

Above is a screencap of the Rat Queens - Vengeance on Villains Rulebook! As we've talked about quite frequently, the base game design was fully completed when we took over and began our work last year. The rulebook required a major overhaul, however, as there were numerous drafts and all the art was from the unshipped version of the game, cut from old comics and a wide variety of artists.

This is a wholesale full revision, again utilizing the same game design, but with a draft on all the language and terms coming from Rat Queens writer, Kurtis Wiebe. He also put this together in Canva, and is no visual designer or artist, so this is a temporary version without the almighty powerful hand of Roc Upchurch's artistic direction. So, it is good to remember that this is not the final version, but an in-progress preview to prove we have something solid and fantastic in the works.

It was an interesting process, to take a lot of the more generic terms that were in the original rulebook (Ex: Monster Special Ability) and ignite it with Rat Queens codex. The aforementioned example became, in this pass, Dick Moves. A reminder of how important even language and word choice becomes in what might be seen as a small detail.

Overall, the promise is: We are working on the Rat Queens game it should've always been. And we hope this is only the beginning of game projects like this from us at Talespinner Games. Incredible, thematic designs, gorgeous art and strong writing.

We've uploaded the playable demo of the game on Tabletop Simulator. It features the game rules and the most current (though unfinished) art that will allow you to play through a full game experience from beginning to end.

The game design is complete, we are making this available as a means to try out the game to see what you think and get a taste of what we have in store for you and future backers!

Rat Queens - Playtest

This Friday, July 17th at 12pm noon PST, join our host, Rat Queens co-creator Kurtis Wiebe, in a live playtest of the game. Enter as either a participant or a viewer and get a feel for the game and ask the host any and all questions you might have about the game, the Rat Queens universe or how he nearly broke his foot over the weekend!

If you wish to play, you must have a copy of Tabletop Simulator on Steam. All login details will be provided before the event launches at noon PST.
