Absurdist Productions presents two snappy, two-player micro-games: Riposte! and Cell Block 18.
Cell Block 18 is an 18-card strategy game in which players assume asymmetric roles as Prisoner or Warden. Taking turns deploying cards to one of three lanes.
Cell Block 18 game contents
The prisoner plays cards face down, attempting to create a set of three cards - a tool, clothing, and method - to allow them to escape and win the game. They also have access to one of three single-use special abilities to disrupt the warden's plans.
The warden plays cards face up, attempting to block the prisoner's escape. Guard cards can reveal the prisoner’s cards or block them from deploying cards to specific lanes. While defense cards block certain escape routes in specific lanes.
The game ends either when the prisoner reveals a winning set and escapes or they run out of cards, making escape impossible.
In Riposte!, you'll play cards simultaneously, trying to score points against your opponent in this game of wits and strategy. Each move limits your options for the next, so track your opponent's cards and choose your moves just as carefully.
Riposte! game contents
Riposte! is an 18-card strategy game. Both players have identical nine-card hands. Play starts with a random card from each player. Each card lists three other cards that can follow it. Players simultaneously choose and reveal their follow cards. Each card shows which other cards it scores against. If no one scores, both players choose another card for their next move, and the round continues. When someone scores a hit, the scoring card is removed from the game to track points. Players then pick up the rest of their cards and begin a new round. The first player to score their fourth point wins.
