With a little under six days left of Pocketopia, it’s safe to say we’re in the home stretch now! I can’t thank you enough for all the support you’ve shown for this project. It means a lot to me that so many of you are interested in creating your own twisted tales with Midnight in Jubilation. I had so much fun writing it, hearing the stories from the playtesters, and can’t wait to share it with you!
We’re very close now to unlocking the seventh stretch goal to add Mwaki’s Missing Persons List to the Appendix of the book! Once unlocked, all backers will have the opportunity to name someone who appears on this list. You can then refer to the list anytime you’d like to get a new character name, or to add detail to scenes when you take calls from the Editor of the Jubilation Times!
While you’re no doubt aware of my excellent cross-collab partner and their game, My Very Own Forest Spirit, there are many other wonderful projects in my banner that fans of darker stories may be curious to check out. Including a rather wonderful project called Last Hope.
Last Hope is a dark Magical Girls tabletop roleplaying game, in which you play as teenage or young adult characters chosen by Unmei—a small creature offering to trade a wish for magical powers—to fight corrupted monsters in an alternate version of the world. All while balancing your mundane life, struggles, and relationships. Although Unmei's intentions seem noble, all Sentinels eventually feel that perhaps these powers came with sinister price...
When your character awakens as a Sentinel, their powers come from within their heart and soul. Their upbringing and their personality determine how The Gift affects them. Choose yours during character creation, answer the Last Hope personality test as your character, or even let your Narrator decide! The Heart you get gives you the basic powers you will use, which you can later upgrade and expand with completely new ones!
Last Hope funded in less than 12 hours and unlocked three Stretch Goals within the first three days! It's closing in on their fourth Stretch Goal, which is an adaptation of the rules for Solo play! The game uses a simple D4 system where you either count the fours or use the highest number. All base rules are included on the character sheet and the book will be hyperlinked for easy navigation!
