As some of you have noticed, we are locking down pledges and starting to move into the final stages of the “Camp-Capers” project.
I need to be right up front with you all, this project is far behind the schedule I had hoped for. It looks like a late-September shipping is what will happen. I don’t want to make excuses, but I do want to let you all know that none of this is by design or desire. Turn around on some of the new art was much longer than expected and my day job has absolutely consumed my life due to a two-fold increase in demands there…
Where are we at? Well, I have been through many false starts with layout, trying to imagine a new look for this book while not completely abandoning the general feel of the Dare-Luck Club trade dress. Finally, after see a really cool trail guide from the late 70s, I landed on the look below. While it’s probably not much to excite the average viewer, for me, it hit right in that space I was looking for.
Anyhow, at this point there is still some editing I’m doing and few second passes on some parts. I hope some of you will be amazed at just what all I’m trying to pack into this! You have all the background and information for Camp Wallamanitu, You have random generators for camp staff and scoutmasters. You have a random trail encounter chart. You have a robust section detailing all you need to know about Ranger Scouts—their uniform, badges, motto, pledge, etc. You have maps of tents and cabins, and the mess hall, the ruins of the Victorian house on Witch Island, and the big ‘ol camp map itself. As I did with Minacious-Midway, I have tried to give 1-2 adventure hooks for every location on the map in addition to the location’s description. And then you have the 3 full-blown adventures; each of which is a perfect match to the themes and quality of our previous adventures most fans are used to.
Very soon this will go to press and then after a printer’s proof or two we’ll get it in the “warehouse” (my temperature controlled garage) and out the door to you all! Thanks for your patience on this, I think it is going to be worth it!
