Project Update: Solo Mode unlocked! Last hours for Early Bird rewards ⏳

Dear Nostalgics,

We just hit the €100k mark and unlocked SOLO MODE! Thanks again for making this possible in such a short amount of time 🎉 You can find more details at the bottom of this (lengthy) update.

The next Stretch Goal would unlock a Secret Game Mode for Extinction Protocol: SEITAN SURVIVOR MODE!

That's some tough piece of gluten!

If you haven't backed the project yet, you still have time until 4pm CEST / 7am PDT to do so and enjoy the Early Bird benefits:

The Cardboard Box pin is free with any pledge level, and if you back the project at the Platinum pledge level, your core memories will be featured in CorePlayer! Magazine.

Now, let's get back to the recently unlocked Solo Mode.

Solo Mode adapts every game in the anthology for single-player in its entirety. Each title takes its own approach. Here's the general spirit behind each adaptation.

Solid State Machine: You'll focus on one character as your protagonist, playing out their spy story from start to finish, while the other three character sheets serve a supporting role during stealth and action phases. Campaign content will be reworked for solo play, giving you a self-contained spy thriller that captures the feel like an original single-player game.

Final Tournament: Pick a fighter and enter the martial arts tournament, facing the rest of the roster as NPCs. You'll carry your character's story all the way to the final... but if you're defeated, it's game over. It's up to you to manage to win the championship. We're talking about a full campaign that can vary in length, with A LOT of replayability.

Bloodsong: Explore Dracula's castle through procedural events, navigating the map's interconnected zones and their challenges. Difficulty will be fine-tuned to keep solo exploration manageable and rewarding. This one also leans into journaling, as you collect and pursue quests from NPCs scattered across the castle.

Corebound Chronicles: Take command of the entire adventuring party, just like playing a single player JRPG. You'll progress through the campaign via procedural events across each region, writing your own chapter in the history of Neo-Terra. In this case, journaling is not only about the characters, but also about the word.

Extinction Protocol: Fight the infection and make your escape alone, interacting with NPCs and navigating the exploration map. Difficulty will be adapted for solo play. If we get the chance (not sure yet), we'd also love to design four story branches, one per character, each starting separately and occasionally crossing paths, much like Resident Evil.

Overdrive Crew: You'll your crew through a series of heists across Highway City, with the three-phase structure streamlined for solo play. In THE PLAN, you use the entire crew's downtime actions to prepare. In THE JOB and THE CHASE, you control one character and trigger automatic, fast, narrative crew-assist bonuses. Unlike the other games, you can pick a different character for each job, and track how your crew grow stronger heist after heist.

That's it for now! Don't forget to vote your favorite ride for Corebound Chronicles. You still have a few more hours left! (By the way, so little love for MegaPug? Really?)
