Project Update: Where in Golarion? A Falcon's Hollow Primer!

Greetings, adventurers!

Thank you for participating in last week's Trivia Challenge! The correct answer was D: The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game was first published in 2009.

To prepare for your adventures in Pathfinder Quest, today we're giving a brief history lesson on the area of Golarion where the campaign takes place: Darkmoon Vale!
The town of Falcon's Hollow.

Falcon's Hollow is a town in the Darkmoon Vale region of Andoran—a familiar country for any current Pathfinder players keeping up with the Hellfire Crisis. Barely big enough to feature on regional maps, Falcon's Hollow is a lumber town with a history of troubles. Rebuilding from their latest confrontation, Falcon's Hollow seeks to become a stopping point for merchants traveling across the Inner Sea.

Darkmoon Vale supplies Andoran with several important natural resources, including duskwood and silver. It is marked by the presence of Droskar's Crag, an active volcano that last erupted several hundred years ago, leading to the destruction of the dwarven city of Jernashall. The volcano's lava pipes formed a network of caverns that hryngar, kobolds, undead, and other denizens of the underworld now call home.

Darkmoon Vale and the town of Falcon's Hollow specifically have a long history with Paizo. The first module ever published, Hollow's Last Hope by Jason Bulmahn and Wes Schneider, is centered on saving the people of Falcon's Hollow from a mysterious plague that is sickening the town. Several more adventures have been set in Darkmoon Vale since then, detailing adventurer's efforts to deal with the Vale's struggles with undead, kobolds, and twisting, dungeon-like caverns.

For Paizo's 20th Anniversary, three adventures set in Darkmoon Vale—Hollow's Last Hope, Crown of the Kobold King, and Hungry are the Dead—were converted to Pathfinder Second Edition and compiled into an expanded campaign with additional creatures, spells, and magical items: Pathfinder Crown of the Kobold King. Hardcover and PDF editions of Crown of the Kobold King will be available as add-ons during Pathfinder Quest's campaign and in the Pledge Manager—plus, all backers on the winning trivia team will receive this PDF for FREE with their pledge!

Pathfinder Quest's campaign takes place after the events of Crown of the Kobold King, but does not require any prior knowledge of the campaign to play—veteran players and lore experts can keep an eye out for fun easter eggs that reference these classic Pathfinder adventures!
