We've wanted to do this SHIVER: Cryptids expansion for years, and we're excited to bring you not only stand alone adventures, but the tools to conjure up the monster-road-trip of your own dreams, right at your tabletop.
Our writers, Charlie and Adam, are huge cryptozoological enthusiasts, but what about the rest of us who don't know their Mothman from their Bigfoot? Their Chupacabra from their Flatwoods Monster?
And what even is the Loveland Frogman?

What is a "Cryptid"? Put simply, a Cryptid is a legendary or unproven animal - something that you've heard tale of, maybe even seen taxidermy recreations of, but likely never seen in person (definitely not at your local zoo).
Things like Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman / Yeti, the Loch Ness Monster, or the Jersey Devil - all cryptids. But it doesn't stop there...
Cryptids Right at Home Lots of countries have their own legendary animals galore, and some even share cryptids. The Chupacabra, for instance, actually can't decide if it lives in the USA, South America, or India - must be nice to be so well travelled!
Here in the UK, Yorkshire has giant black cats and dogs of legend, Lancashire has Jenny Greenteeth the river hag, and Cornwall even has its very own Owlman! (Though not to be confused with the Owlman of SHIVER: Slasher fame...)
Are Cryptids Real? Some real world animals were actually once considered cryptids! The Okapi, the Komodo Dragon, and the humble Giant Squid were all once considered cryptids by the scientific community, until they found their irrefutable evidence. Then they pretended they knew all along - classic scientist behaviour!
