Project Update: Poll Winner: Jenny from the Bog
Emerging Victorious, it's the Famous River Hag Herself: Jenny Greenteeth!
Unleashing Jenny onto Your Table
Jenny Greenteeth is one of those classic Cryptids that you just can't help but love. Adam took development of this nasty hag very seriously, delving into all manner of legend and history to help create a really gnarly take on England's most famous river hag.
- Legend: Jenny is just one of many Cryptids from around the globe whose origins seem to be to warn children about the dangers of rivers, lakes, and swamps – any land-bound body of water, really! From the myths of the Bunyip, Kappa, Rusalka and the Grendylow, there are all kinds of terrible things that lurk in the shallows, waiting to drag you down deeper...
- Minions: Jenny is one of our few Cryptids that thrive upon the service of others. The witchier tales of Jenny inspired a very strange development for her as an enemy (this is SHIVER, after all). Those who fall to Jenny's dark magicks have the misfortune of turning into the strange, slimy, slug-like creatures that spend their terrible lives in her service. The body horror is pretty high on this one, if you think about it too much (we did).
- In Play: Jenny isn't a big hitter like our pal Bigfoot, but she is a terrifying foe. We gave her a range of adaptable attacks for a GM to use, and the highest amount of reactions in one of our favourite Reaction Tables: SCARY. This means that even with a lower health point total, Jenny can absolutely make a nightmare for any humble reporters that dare to cross her path.
Our Jenny Adventure
The year is 1545, and a small group of highland warriors hold the barricades of ruined Castle Dorchusger against their foe, Sir Graham Tollins and his king's army. But the greatest threat to their survival is not beyond the walls, it's within them. Buried deep down in the foundations of this abandonned fortress is something terrible, and it hungers.
Your Own Jenny Adventures
With SHIVER, it's never been easier to do horror your own way. Rivers run all over the lands of the world, and where they go, so does Jenny. The river hag could torment a water draining data centre in the modern day, or terrorise your very own home town... With SHIVER Cryptids, Jenny is at your command. Let's just hope she's feeling open to collaborating!
Follow now to back SHIVER: Cryptids on launch, and find new ways to terrorise your tabletop.
