Project Update: Poll Winner: Bigfoot Comes to Town
Our Winner by a Landslide, it's the Big (Footed) Man Himself!
Bringing Bigfoot to your Tabletop
It's no secret at Parable HQ that Charlie has a lot of love for this humble sasquatch, so when it came time to bring the big man to life in SHIVER: Cryptids, he had lots of ideas.
- Inspiration: There's a lot of Bigfoot media out there, from the original Patterson-Gimlin film, to all the shows filling up "history" & "geographic" related TV channels, Bigfoot is one of the most well know (and easily creatable) cryptids in the book.
- Mechanics: We leaned heavily on Grit to really show just how bulky this fella is. When looking at weaknesses, Hearts sprung to mind – after all, he's a shy guy who might just be trusting enough to fall for a kind hearted gesture, or a devious ruse... The attacks and abilities really hone in on Bigfoot's strengths, and while he's not the most deadly of the cryptids in our offering (that'd be [CENSORED]), he's certainly a brawny Bruiser.
- Lore: You might have assumed by the name "Father Bigfoot" that there's going to be a few more variations of this cryptid in the book – and you'd be right. We wanted to create a social structure, a heart to the Bigfoot myth, and part of the way of doing that was exploring what the sasquatch's life might be like.
Our Big Foot Adventure
The Society of Cryptid Conservation (S.O.C.C) and The Bigfoot Hunter’s Association will be in a race against time - with one team trying to protect the elusive Bigfoot; whilst the Hunters (led by the despicable Hiram De Groot) want to capture it, display it and eventually, put its head on their wall.
Your Own Bigfoot Adventures
As with all things SHIVER, our way isn't the only way. If you want to make Bigfoot a lone terror, bigger and tougher than our social creature, and put him on a rampage... do it! With SHIVER Cryptids, the adventures you run are going to be just as cool and fun to play as ours – hopefully even more so!
Follow now to back SHIVER: Cryptids on launch, and find new ways to terrorise your tabletop.
