We get asked this one a lot, or "Why should I play SHIVER?" Luckily, we've been doing this for five years now, so we have some good answers!

PSSST, if you know exactly what SHIVER is, and want to know more about what Cryptids actually are instead, click here!

SHIVER is the ultimate spooky scary toolkit!
Take your favourite scary movies, TV shows, books, comics or whatever media you love, and you can bring it to the tabletop and play it with your friends!

SHIVER is easy to learn!
It's a mathless game, based around intuitive symbol based skills, which are all about how your character might want to solve problems. Bit of an egghead? Then you're all about Smarts. Think with your fists more than your brain? Then you, my friend, are a Grit focused person.

We found taking all the hardcore arithmetic out of the equation (pun intended) made the game more open, flow quicker, and keep the horror tension rising. After all, nothing kills tension like unrequested maths homework.

SHIVER is one simple system, with lots of modular expansions!
The SHIVER Core Rulebook is all you need to play any subgenre of horror you like, with any level of intensity for your players. If you want slashers, gothic monsters, or even corporate comedy-horror, you can do that all with just the Core Rulebook.

But if you want more, then each of our major expansion books (like SHIVER: Cryptids) come with a ton of adventure and new gameplay mechanics to settle you right into a unique and memorable game night experience.

SHIVER is endlessly adaptable, approachable, and affordable!
We want to make things fair and fun for our players and gamemasters, because we at Parable Games want to play the games we make.

We're a passionate group of TTRPG nerds making games for each other (and for you), and SHIVER: Cryptids is going to be no different!

Don't just take our word for it, take everyone else's! (Actual Plays and Reviews)
