Project Update: 48 hours until cards are charged for additional charges
Just a quick reminder that I will be charging cards for additional charges on July 28 (two days from now).
Additional charges might include:
- Add-ons
- Pledge level shipping (for pledges that don't include free shipping)
- Add-on shipping (for all pledges that added-on items)
- Taxes (in applicable regions)
- Post-campaign pledge upgrades
- Paying for pledges that failed during the campaign
Please note that if you added-on items to a pledge level with free shipping, you get free shipping on the base pledge but there will still be a small charge associated with the add-ons.
Also, for those of you who have left a comment about picking up your pledge at Gen Con (booth 1237), that has been noted!
Thanks so much!
Peter
Project Update: Samples + locking pledges + charging cards July 28 + backing card upgrade + Gen Con
I'm excited to share a run of milestones and announcements!
- Pin production is progressing nicely and I have samples incoming!
- I am locking pledges in 48 hours and will be charging for shipping, taxes, add-ons, and pledge upgrades on July 28
- I'm upgrading pins to come packaged on backing cards
- I'll have a sampling of pins to show at Gen Con Aug 1-4
I'll go into each headline in further detail below!
Pin production progressing well
Everything is looking beautiful, and there's only one design I'm making adjustments to. Otherwise, I think they knocked it out of the park! Here's a photo the producer sent me. I'll post some more detailed photos when I have them in hand!
Next steps will be to finish the remaining copies of each design, package the pins, and then have the shipment divided up into three fulfillment regions (USA/international, UK/EU, and Canada).
For the USA and Canada, any pledges that include my cross-collaborator David Malki's pins will ship together when David's pins are also ready. For UK/EU pledges, David and I are shipping separately. We'll be confirming our plan for shipping international parcels closer to our actual fulfillment date, which is scheduled for the fall.
Locking pledges in 48 hours + charging cards on July 28
After the 48 hours passes, you won't be able to change the contents of your pledge or the answers in your reward survey.
You will, however, still be able to update your address as long as your country stays the same. For support changing the country of your address, please get in touch through BackerKit support!
I will be charging cards for shipping, taxes, add-ons, and pledge upgrades on July 28. I'll post another update a few days before I do so to remind everyone.
Upgrading pins to come on backing cards
Here's a mock-up of what a mounted pin should look like!
Bringing pins to show at Gen Con Aug 1-4
If you're coming to Gen Con and would like to pick up your pledge early, please let me know in the comments below by July 24 and I will prepare your pledge for pickup. Please note that the pins available at Gen Con will NOT have the card back mounting.
That's all for now!
Project Update: The pins have been sent into production + 1 week left for survey + note about shipping costs
I'm excited to report that the pins have all been sent into production! Production will take place over the next 2 months and we should be ready to begin shipping in the fall. I'll follow up in a future update to explain the shipping timeline and methods.
I'm also happy to share that 93% of backers have completed the reward survey! Thank you!
If if you have not completed the survey yet, please fill it out by July 1. I will need to lock pledges in early July so I can commit the correct number of each pin design to each one of our shipping hubs.
If you have not received your survey link yet, you can get it by visiting https://dnd-pins.backerkit.com and entering your BackerKit email.
One last note about the surveys: there was a period of about 2 weeks during which BackerKit was incorrectly pulling add-on shipping estimates from an empty shipping table instead of the correct table.
For backer who completed their survey around the beginning of June with add-ons (e.g. who added additional pins or extras on top of their pledge) may have been shown $0 for their add-on shipping when the actual charge should have been what was advertised during the campaign:
- USA: US$1/add-on
- Canada: CA$1/add-on
- UK: £1/add-on
- EU: €2/add-on
- Int'l: US$3/add-on
I've fixed the error and the correct amount should now be showing. If you'd like to double-check your expected charges, just open your reward survey link and you'll be able to see everything line by line.
This shouldn't affect people who completed their surveys when they first opened in May, and this also won't affect anyone who did not add extra pins or items on top of their base pledge. If this does affect you, the difference will likely be a few dollars compared to the estimate you were shown.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!
Peter
Project Update: Surveys are sent + "Cat Lady Druid" pin update
I'm pleased to report that our smoke test was successful and we were able to send out the surveys ahead of schedule!
If you have not received your survey link yet, you can get it by visiting https://dnd-pins.backerkit.com and entering your BackerKit email. Please fill out your survey by July 1.
Also, a backer brought something to my attention: there was a pin missing from the survey!
There was a pin that wasn't included in the 25-pin lineup or the unlock list, but I forgot to remove from the pin design gallery when I cut it from the final lineup before launch. It's the pin that reads "I'm not a crazy cat lady / I'm a high-level druid."
This was my mistake, and I didn't intend to offer this design for this campaign, but I absolutely want to do right by everyone who pledged because they were interested in this design.
If you pledged because you wanted the "Cat Lady Druid" pin design instead of one of your existing pin selections, please fill out this Google form and I'll make sure to swap out one of your existing pin choices for it. You'll be able to specify which. The deadline to fill out the form is June 10th.
Thanks so much and sorry for the error and confusion!
Peter
Project Update: Reward surveys coming this week!
Hello backers!
I'm excited to announce I've finished setting up the reward surveys and the pledge manager, and I'm just waiting for BackerKit to review my set-up so I can send surveys to all of you!
Once BackerKit has confirmed the surveys look good, I'll begin the "smoke test." The smoke test involves sending the reward survey to a sample group (5% of backers) to see if there are any issues with the surveys before we proceed to send them to everyone. This helps us iron out issues on the admin side before we open the doors.
In terms of scheduling, this means I'll likely conduct the smoke test by Wednesday or Thursday, and send out the reward surveys by Friday or Saturday, but that schedule might shift depending on how quickly they review my setup, and how quickly I can resolve any issues they discover.
The reward survey will come via email. It will contain a link you can open to a quick survey that will collect your shipping details, confirm your choice of pins, invite you to add-on any extras you'd like, and summarize all the items you're receiving plus any shipping or taxes owing.
If you have any questions at all during this process, just leave a comment below or contact BackerKit support and we'll get you sorted.
In the meantime, I'll be formatting my pin design files for production.
Thanks so much for your support!

Project Update: Going 🔴LIVE🔴 soon at *3:15pm ET*
I realized just after posting the last update that I put the correct time in the update body the WRONG time in the title.
We're going live in 40 minutes at *3:15pm* ET! (I live in the Atlantic timezone and forgot to adjust!)
You can watch on YouTube, or Facebook, or the campaign page!
See you soon!

Project Update: Final 24 hours, final stretch goal, final pin, FINAL COUNTDOWN!
Whoo, what a whirlwind of a campaign it's been!
We're heading into the final 24 hours and we've unlocked all but the FINAL stretch goal: the Nat 1 Smackdown pin (by special guest Shen)!
I'm especially excited to unlock this design because Shen designed the shape to pair with the little 1 HP "Still Good" guy! In fact, all 3 of his pins tell a little story of a guy who calculated that he was going to get hit, and then did!
I would love to unlock this design before the campaign wraps up so we can produce all 25 designs!
There are a few things you can do help us get there:
- Share the campaign link on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, or wherever fine D&D memes are found: ttps://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/peter-chiykowski/tabletop-rpg-and-d-d-pins
- Check out the add-ons, which include collapsible dice towers and books.
- Increase your pledge. Now that we've unlocked so many pins, there's a TON OF VALUE in the $150 pledge level for 10 pins (which includes free US, UK, and Canadian shipping) and the $295 ALL THE PINS pledge level (which includes free worldwide shipping). See all pledge levels here!
It's a great way to pick up all the holiday gifts you'll ever need for your gaming group for a great price!
By the way, I just realized that there was a pricing error on the 3 pin add-on, which was was supposed to be priced at $45 like the 3-pin pledge level. That's now been updated!
Lastly, I wanted to share a few D&D-themed comics I worked on with my frequent webcomic collaborator Aaron Lenk! Back in 2021 we sketched out some ideas for a comic about dice playing D&D in their spare time, and I thought I'd share a few of the test strips we worked on!
Thanks so much for all your support heading into the final hours!
Project Update: 2 Weeks Left, 2 Stretch Goals Left + Highlighting Weird Works + D&D Comics
We're only one week into the campaign and we've already unlocked all but 2 pin designs. Amazing!
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm, and to everyone who has been helping spread the word!
If you'd like to help continue boosting the signal, you can share the launch announcements on Twitter and Facebook!
I'm particularly excited to reach the Nat 1 Luck Smash pin because it's designed to work on its own OR pair with the 1 HP "Still Good" pin Shen designed!
In other news, I wanted to highlight another pin project I thought you'd all like: Let's Get Weird Pins by Weird Works!
I've been browsing through Pintopia and discovering so many lovely projects, and I found these pins to be both UTTERLY DELIGHTFUL and also OF INTEREST TO TTRPG FANS! The designs are by Bee Ho of Weird Works, a tabletop games and accessories company based in Seattle and LA.
Please go check out their project! The Goblin Mode pin is especially wonderful because it has a built-in slider.
Also, please check out my pin cross-collab partner David Malki of Wondermark! If you pledge both our projects you'll get a freebie pin from each of us!
Lastly, I wanted to leave you with the finished version of the comics I drew during the launch livestream!
And then this little number, which began as a notebook concept so stupid I just had to draw it:
Thanks so much for following along, and thanks for helping me unlock 23 of 25 pins! ❤️❤️❤️
Project Update: Holy Smokes, One Heckuva First Day
Wow, thank you for an absolutely incredible first day on this project!
It's been 7 years since I launched an illustration-based project, and some of these pins have existed in notebooks for 5+ years, so it's been both a long time coming and incredible rush to share these designs with you all and see the response!
Speaking of which: we fully funded and smashed through 9 stretch goals!
And we're well on our way to the next stretch goal: unlocking a 2nd pin design by Shen at $10,000! The little 1 HP "Still Good" guy is such a delightful little hero to root for.
There are still over 24 hours for new backers to claim the early bird mimic pin, so if you know anyone who likes D&D humor, please consider sharing the campaign with them. I'd love to see this project continue to grow and for new designs to get unlocked over the next 3 weeks.
And if you haven't already checked it out, my cross-collaboration pin pal is David Malki! (Wondermark)! If you back both of our projects for any physical tier, you'll get a bonus pin from each of us, so please go check out his delightful designs!
Thanks again for all your support!
Peter
