Project Update: The Unstoppable Crawler vs The Nightmare Express

Heeeeelllloooooo Crawlers!
This is NOT your conductor speaking, it's just me, Zev!

For this morning's status update: all trains are running smoothly! We currently have 36,248 crawlers aboard and have passed by the stations to reach $8,582,215!

8.5 Million Dice Rolls
Yesterday afternoon we reached $8.5 Million and to celebrate we have a small surprise upgrade.

It's pretty small. About dice-sized.

I guess technically it's the size of a set of dice or two. The Smush dice and  Carl's Boxer's dice are now upgraded to resin! It's a small change but it makes a difference when it comes to capturing tiny details in numbers and logos.

We'll be releasing an update all about the dice and dice bags soon, so keep an eye out for that!
And yes, there will ALSO be another pre-gen poll up soon! I've got a lot of names to sort through.

Today's update is another fun ride, a tour of the Iron Tangle Expansion for Unstoppable! If you've been wondering HOW you kick mob butt and catch your train on time, then simply punch your ticket and read on!

All Aboard!  The Iron Tangle Awaits!

The core box for Dungeon Crawler Carl explores the first three floors of the world dungeon.  For those looking to go deeper, the Iron Tangle Expansion adds the next challenge: the fourth floor!

In the book, the fourth floor is a dangerous train-based maze filled with twists, turns, bosses, and even an Abyss!  The design team was excited to take on the challenge of representing this within the confines of a card game.

The Map

We identified early that our traditional setup of a Floor Mat would not be big enough to represent the feel of a convoluted train maze.  We’ve added not one, but two extra mats that sit side by side to represent the Iron Tangle map.  The same map is used for Arcade and Campaign mode.  Your party will be represented by a wooden train token that is moved around the map, starting in the top left corner and moving around until you reach the stairs.

There are several routes you can take!  Do you go the fastest route that’s more dangerous?  Do you take the slower route that allows you to pick up some nice bonuses along the way?  Do you ride the Nightmare Express?!?  Be careful, though, the routes are one-way, and some have restrictions.  We’ve color coded the stops so you can easily tell which ways are helpful (green name tags) or harmful (black name tags).
How do you move?

There are two main ways to move around this map.  One is through a new action provided by the floor mat. Players can spend action points and gold to move along the track.

The other way to gain movement is through defeating fourth floor threats.  Many of the threats that you will encounter on this floor have train movement as a “When defeated” reward.
New Bosses

There are 5 new bosses lurking on the fourth floor!  Three neighborhood bosses and the Krakaren Clone await your arrival at certain locations on the map.  If you make it to Terminus Station, you’ll encounter the first City Boss—Mimic Rex!  Overcoming this boss is a giant challenge, but well worth it if you can *hint hint the stairwell maybe*.
This floor is certain to have a much different feel than any previous floor or boss in Unstoppable.  We hope you enjoy the challenge that The Iron Tangle expansion brings to your table!
